Horror Stephen King's "IT" Part I and Part II

I felt like it's purpose was to show why Richie has been insecure to come out

Yeah this and the bullying scene were clearly there to show WHY Richie didn't live his life openly. But none of that was written well and if it wasn't for Hader's excellent acting right after the flashback ends and you see the heartbreak all over his face, none of that would be evident

Muschietti lucked out so much with him and Ransone here, everyone was very good but these two really added things to that mediocre script

That grandma scene though. Lawd that def got me good. Lol

I seriously loved this film. I feel like the RT is score if far too low for this. I felt like Chapter 2 stuck the landing very well, and all of the characters were absolutely fantastic. The chemistry between everybody is so damn good and I'd also like to add that bill skarsgard has cemented himself even more as the best pennywise, and it's not even close.

I don’t understand why they didn’t film the kids flashback scenes when they made Chapter 1 if they knew it was going to be a two parter.

Couple of points.

People complained in advance that the film would not be as good because the kids would be missed and also "the point of the book" was the switching timelines. Now people seem to be saying we didn't need to see the kids again.

People say that Adrian Mellon didn't need to be there but let's face it, if he wasn't people would have complained. Heck people complained that Hockstetter didn't have his backstory with the fridge in the first movie. I can't help feel now that if it had been, people would have complained it didnt need to be there.

The repetitiveness. Had to be done imo. The story of the adults is they spend time revisiting old haunts (so to speak) and reconnecting with their childhood. That said, Ben's scene seemed pretty pointless to me though on the plus side it gave us more Pennywise. Anyway it's no less repetitive than part one of the miniseries which was "adult gets phonecall, flashback to childhood, Pennywise taunts kid, transition back to adult leaving for Derry.

Just like any movie there was no guarantee it would be a success. Much less the huge success Part 1 turned out to be. Stephen King adaptations have VERRRRYY shoddy track records so the first one couldve been a flop for whatever reason.

On the front of Rotten Tomatoes, The tomatometer is never wrong. It's not gauging an average score for a movie. It's just pulling the percentage of critics who liked or hated a movie. So the tomatometer can never be wrong for that reason.

I feel like they were gonna do a part two regardless of how well the first did because it's just that kind of story. I know Bill takes a jab at that with his "real life doesn't have closure" line, but they probably did have the framework set up. It was also an excuse to use de-aging tech which is the current pumpkin spice of CG technology nowadays.

I really enjoyed the film. Yes, its not as effective as the first film, but Chapter One was permitted a smoother narrative and a more primal kids vs. evil scenario. Chapter Two loses that romantic, bittersweet Stand By Me vibe.

However, unlike most horror movies, I was still invested in the adult characters and enjoyed the movie a great deal. There was enough scares and laughs throughout to keep you engaged, but they definitely could have shaved AT LEAST 20 minutes off the runtime.

Overall, Muschietti should be very proud of both films. IT: Chapter Two gets a solid 7/10.

So if this really happens as WB wants, can Muschietti direct a decent Flash film ?

I’m sure they had plans, but how many times have we heard a part 2 or trilogy planned that never happened.

The great thing about the first IT film is that it actually works as just a stand alone, and they probably made it like that in case they wouldn’t have the opportunity to make the second half.

I have a feeling Dune will be crafted the same way.

What’s nice that the first film did so well is they were able to double their budget for the second.

Whats the box office looking like for this so far?

I'll have to watch it again to solidify my feelings toward it. There's more things I loved than ones I felt indifferent for.

Adrian Mellon sequence and Pennywise under the bleachers really stayed with me. I wish the aftermath of Pennywise's actions lingered a bit more rather than quickly jumping onto the next scene, losing any sense of dread and danger.

I have a question. I understand that certain events took place during the periods the losers were not together for weeks or however long it was. That makes sense but when was the clubhouse meant to have been built. I know they say in the movie when it was built but looking at chapter one, the introduction of Mike into the losers club and the point they split up and go separate ways seemed to happen in the same day so I really can't see where there was any time for them get the clubhouse and establish their clubhouse rules etc.

I was pretty disappointed. Not only do the flashbacks felt unnecessary and drawn out, but they cut into certain arcs with the adults. Didn't scare me at all. There are a lot of times there was a weird tone shift in the middle of a scene that left me scratching my head.

Overall I enjoyed it. Pt.1 was A LOT stronger though..this one being 3hrs long probably wasn't needed. I love the kids but we didn't need as many flashbacks as we got, it was a whole mini movie within the movie and it took away from the present day. I feel like the OG probably dealt with the adult aspect of the film a lot better.

While I liked most of the comedy they did go a bit overboard at times with it. Something that should be frightening and serious and they took me out of it by making it funny. So much so to the point where I wasn't sure if it was real or fake.

The movie as a very explicit "The Thing" reference which I thought was kind of weird.

I think the new Pennywise actor is honestly not great and not scary at all. I far prefer Tim Curry’s version.

This movie wasn’t satisfying for me, the first was way better.

My ranking:

1. The book (obviously)
2. 1990 movie
3. It Chapter One
4. It Chapter Two
