So, just to be clear, before this hits stores... the deleted/extended scenes on this release are the ones that would constitute an extended cut later on, right? Like the Pennywise flashback and whatnot?

Because I'm really not up for a wait if the scenes are still on the disc. I don't need a whole new cut that bad.

My nephew, who’s turning 10 next week, just saw the movie with his best friend, it scared the bejesus out of both of them but they loved it (and their parents watched it with them and at one point took video of them watching it because they were hilarious). :funny:

Anyway, we’re watching the Golden Globes tonight, and when Alexander Skaarsgard won, we told my nephew that was Pennywise’s older brother.

He said, “So then he’s Nickelwise?” :funny:

A 9 year old watched this!?

Yep, along with his best friend. They watched The Conjuring a few weeks ago, and thought it was awesome, and since every other kid they know is obsessed with Pennywise at the moment, all of the parents decided to let them watch It over Christmas vacation.

All parents involved had already seen the movie and read the book, and knew their kids well enough to trust they could handle it, and they watched it with them in case they got too scared. They jumped out of their seats a bunch of times, but they loved it, and they keep doing that Pennywise dance now.

The viewing came with strict warnings not to repeat the language (my nephew told me he hopes they swear less in Part 2), and the seedier moments went right over their heads.

A whole generation of us saw Poltergeist under 9 years of age, and that movie is way scarier than It.

Good! Didnt they want to see it when it first came out?

Preach!

Same here!! Actually, now that they’re into scary movies, we can’t wait to show them Poltergeist.

They did, but we thought it was too intense for the movie theater. I babysat both of my nephews when their folks saw it back in September.

No movie gave me more nightmares as a child than the rated PG film with a guy ripping his own face off.

Is the extended cut coming out today, or is that a future release?

Future release

Hmmmm...I was going to pick this up today, but I don't want to double dip if the theatrical version ends up on the DC release as well. I may skip this initial release then.

I’m debating myself what to do. It’s tough.

I hadn't checked the thread in a while, so I assumed the DC would come same time. I just don't want this to end up like the Rogue Cut, where it included both versions of the film and I end up with a release of the movie I won't use since I bought the day 1 release of that as well.

Saves me money for a few months I guess :oldrazz:

I'm waiting impatiently for the mail to get my 4K copy. I pre-ordered on Amazon forever ago. Tonight I'm going to devour every second of this movie and the special features.

The deleted scenes don’t sound like anything I will miss terribly, so the DC doesn’t appeal to me at the moment. If I feel differently when it comes out, I will sell the TC on EBay.

I think I’m gonna grab this blu ray for now because I loved the film so much, I need it ASAP.

I just decided to get it now. If it had been completely bare bones, maybe I would've waited, but I think there's some pretty decent-sounding stuff in this release.

Yeah, I picked this up in 4K. Pretty solid release in terms of bonus materials and features.

I was going to initially wait but got a Target gift card for Christmas so I got the 4K version.

Just watched the 4K. This movie is still one of my favorites of the year. Everything about it works for me. I love it all. I wish there was a tad more in the special features, and a lack of any commentary track bugs me, but visually the 4K disc rocks. If they do an extended cut in the future I'll probably double dip and buy it.

I had no idea an extended cut was planned. I guess Ill be waiting as well.

Count me in on that. Until now I was absolutely clueless as to there being an extended cut but I shall patiently wait to obtain it.

This release doesn't include the Pennywise flshback. These are the deleted scenes in this release:

Deleted Scenes (1080p; 2.40:1; 15:18): The scenes are not separately listed or selectable. A title card precedes each one.
Sc. 10: Georgie catches boat (a/k/a Opening Gag Scene)
Sc. 25: Stanley's Dad corrects him (extended scene)
Sc. 64: Denbrough family dinner
Sc. 74-77: Bill's Dad looks in the basement, et al.
Sc. 98: Outside the Neibolt house
Sc. 104: Evacuating the Neibolt house (extended scene)
Sc. 108: Stanley's Bar Mitzvah speech
Sc. 115: Eddie at Keene's pharmacy (extended scene)
Sc. 132: Henry and Bullies wait outside (extended scene)
Sc. 137: The Losers find Georgie's wallet
Sc. 160: Denbrough family vacation

Sounds like mundane stuff. They probably wanted to include some but wanted to save the best deleted scenes for the extended cut.
