A theatrical redo of Stephen King's "It" has been on the table for years. Now Warner Bros. is partnering with Lin Pictures and Vertigo Entertainment to get it on the screen.
They've enlisted Dave Kajganich (The Invasion) to pen the script and already talks of story changes are underway. According to THR, Kajganich tale is set in present day and will ignore the fact that King's narrative bounces between '58 and '85. The core of the story will still follow a group of youngsters who once took on a creature and are called back together in their adult years to battle "it" one more time.
"It," first published in 1986, was adapted into an ABC mini-series in 1990.
Kajganich has reportedly penned a Pet Sematary remake as well and he's at work on Escape from New York.
take out the shadows?
I love the scene in the book where . . .
Ben is walking home in the snow storm and Pennywise is on the side of the road. Thw wind is blowing hard one direction but his balloons fly the opposite direction of the strong gust of wind
So creepy
So, they're throwing away all of the kids storyline? I think that's the best part!
Innocent kids having to face all of their fears and fight against this seemingly immortal monster, without knowing what's real and what is not... Having only the adults part of the story will take away a lot of the strength of it.
That article is from 2009...
This surely has been going on for a long time now...![]()
Reminds me of this:

The scariest scene in the book is where Pennywise first appears in his leper form. ****ing disgusting.
In the novel, one of the things that tips the kids off that Pennywise isn't a normal clown is the fact that he doesn't cast a shadow.
It's the small details like this, that make me happy. It's too bad they will probably not bother with it.
Is that the scene where the bum/leper is under the house? Or am I misremembering?
Hey I know he is probably too old but how about this for out there casting of Pennywise, Mark Hamill, think about it, Tim Curry was supposed to be Joker but the powers that be decided he was not right for the role, so it went to Hamill. So, why not have Hamill play a role Curry did?
*leaves thread*
So... Are they gonna announce who's playing Pennywise or......
Have an easier job picturing sinister vibes coming off him than Poulter. Also helps that he doesn't look 15.
