Steven Spielberg's West Side Story adaptation

Can’t wait. Spielberg is obviously one of the best. One of my favorite directors of all time as he is for many people. I love the original film, very excited to see the trailer tonight.

Yeah, it's a pity Spielbergs next film wont have vials of poison and white water rafting.

Yup, looks like another great Spielberg film. The guy is at the point where he can direct great movies in his sleep.

This was the kind of thing where I asked myself, "Is this really necessary? I guess that the main benefit is that there'll be more than one actor of Puerto Rican descent in this but I don't know why Spielberg is remaking it instead of trying his hand at a musical that hasn't been adapted for film yet" but after seeing the trailer I was pretty impressed at how visually striking it looks.

I think it's his love of the stage musical, which apparently has quite a few differences with the 1961 film.

I wonder how the iconic songs will come into that.Will it be just the actors singing the original songs or will it be modernised with Hip Hop and such things (which I hope not)

In The Heights may have the edge simply because West Side Story is a remake, but that doesn't rule out a Best Picture nomination for WSS either.
