Studios hunting for the next big property franchise

Well-constructed movies based on the Douglas Preston/Lincoln Child novels, primarily those with Agent Pendergast. (Though Riptide and Ice Limit would make neat movies as well)

Directed by Christopher Nolan, no less.

Then maybe "The Relic" will get the movie treatment it TRULY deserves.:o

Please I am begging any good Director Out there and I am also telling you the Next Big Franchise is Stephen King's Dark Tower Now get it done.

LOL Like any Directors would actually come on here.

The studios are currently buying up any fantasy children's books they can find right now, hoping to get the next Harry Potter franchise started up. So many of these things are the same though...innocent everyman kid is normal, then suddenly discovers a secret world of nymphs and centaurs, and a villain that he/she is destined to defeat.

And they still don't look as great as Harry Potter.

Transformers will start the 80s Saturday morning cartoon adaptation franchises.

I think Reboot has potential for a trilogy.

Well if Golden Compass becomes a success then maybe they will do the other two books as well.

agreeeeeeeeeeeeeeed!

Each season could be adapted into a movie.

You've got the characters and events in Mainframe and then suddenly a Game Cube! Cue your whatever your imagination can think off action sequence, Michael Bay.

2. the united states is destroyed by an unseen enemy and the few remanants of our shattered society have to band together to survive the nations that come to pick up the pieces

seems very similar to a Kim Stanely Robinson book. (I think its one of the 3 california's trilogy), in which the rest of the world gets highly narked by the USA and they bomb it back to a pre-industrial era, so US society is pre-industrial, and spread across a a series of unconnected villages. as soon as any village shows a sign of communicating with the rest, they bomb it. No rods, no weapons, no nothing.

you'd be fine i think, especially if they turned him into moreso samurai skilled etc.

Sorry, but I can't see Mr Joe Public saying, "Damn, Hugh Jackman is no longer playing Wolverine, but hey - the fact that Wolvie is more of a samurai in the new film makes up for it!"

As Hollywood is blowing the dust off old franchises (Die Hard, Terminator, Rambo), it's time they went back to the Holy Grail.....

I want to see two Suburban Commando sequels, shot back-to-back. Written by Robert Towne and David Mamet. Directed by Brian De Palma. SFX by Weta and ILM. $300m budget for both, each running to three hours plus, with extended DVD versions, brother.

Now I've re-read that, I realise if it was made, I would actually watch that.

Seiously, I think Metal Gear is just begging to destroy Hollywood.

That cartoon always seemed to have that epic quality that is made for the big screen.

I wonder when we'll ever get that next big unexpected blockbuster series. Star Wars/Matrix/Pirates style.
