One would assume but I can't even think what this zero tolerance would be about. Are they saying by being enrolled in their school a student forfeits their right to make jokes of a non-threatening manner on social media? Seems like a pretty cut and dry win for this kid, even more so with his stellar HS career they screwed up

Times Square Spider-Men Smell Awful, New York Post Reports

773448102586407969.jpg

Despite appearances, the costumed mascots of Times Square can be a sour bunch. Just last year, Cookie Monster pushed a baby, Elmo spewed anti-Semitic vitriol, and Super Mario got handsy with someone's thigh. But apparently the stinkiest of all is the Spider-Man who hit a woman in the face after quarreling about a tip.

Philip Williams is on trial facing 90 days in prison for the alleged February 2013 assault, and on Monday, the court used an unusual identification method on a key piece of evidence. From the New York Post:

"The smell is very distinctive?" Manhattan Criminal Court Judge Anthony Ferrara asked her after she was presented with an evidence bag containing the suspect's costume on Monday.

"Yes," she replied.

"You remember that smell?" the judge asked after she took a whiff during the pre-trial hearing.

"Yes," she said again.

Spider-Man's odor was allegedly so strong that the victim could confidently recognize it nearly a year and a half later. The Post, high-minded journalistic outfit that it is, sent reporters to Times Square to see whether other faux Peter Parkers could be identified by their spidey-scents. They found a veritable cornucopia of stenches:

One stinky Spidey lingered in a fog of his own musk at Broadway and 42nd Street — putting forth a distinct melange of cheap deodorant, body odor and stale musk. Despite this, he was demanding people pay for the privilege of standing next to him for photos.

A second web-slinger wannabe, standing in front of Toys "R" Us, had a slightly sweet and sweaty bouquet that also could have been as good as a DNA test if it were ever to be brought up in court. It was the type of smell that may have struck Goreaciuc's nose during her dust-up with Williams.

The second Spider-Man's aroma, in case you missed it, was as "good as a DNA test," according to the paper — finally, a way to take down these masked menaces once and for all! Somewhere, J. Jonah Jameson is smiling.

Well I think Tobey and ANdrew could have told anyone wearing those things all day that they get some funk. It is pretty darn funny that they went around smelling Spider-Men

It fits with this zero tolerance ideaology that if you allow any little thing (even kids using their fingers as guns) you are allowing a "culture" of that to exist.

In this line of thinking, letting a student sarcastically remark they had an inappropriate relationship with a teacher in response to an anonymous comment is the same as if he actually claimed to have done so and therefore did have an inappropriate relationship.

Schools aren't known for understanding sarcasm, satire, parody or anything that questions their authority.

Even when I was in school 15 years ago we were told multiple times that trying to harm the teachers physically, emotionally, or reputation wise would be given a suspension or even expulsion.

He should have known better then to joke around about doing sexual things with his teacher... in a public forum. True or not it could have caused just as much damage to his teacher as it could have him.

Well I understand your viewpoint but making jokes on social media is completely different than going around school and spreading false rumors even as a joke. The school has no jurisdiction on social media and he has rights as an American citizen regardless of what the school feels is a slight to one of their teachers. It would also be different if say this one done on the school's Facebook page or the school had also been tagged in the tweet but that is not the case. Bottom line is the school is out of line in this case and he will win IMO

Bobby Jindal Defies Legislature, Issues Order to Drop Common Core

773839549025235089.png

Louisiana Governor and 2016 presidential hopeful Bobby Jindal issued several executive orders this afternoon to drop Common Core in Louisiana altogether. Jindal once supported the education standards, but when the Tea Party changed its mind about them, so did he.

Jindal is going against his own state legislature and education superintendent, as well as Education Secretary Arne Duncan, with this move. Education Superintendent John White and President of the Board of Elementary and Secondary Education Chas Roemer say Jindal doesn't have the authority to drop the standards without their consent. White told the Times-Picayune that this issue will likely end up in court.

Jindal, clearly, is willing to take his chances. In addition to issuing executive orders to withdraw from the standards and the federally-funded Common Core testing group, he's instructed the state legislature to come up with new education standards specific to Louisiana. In a press conference this afternoon, he called Common Core a "federal takeover." In an April op-ed for USA Today, he compared the program to the Soviet Union's totalitarian regime.

Duncan and White both say Jindal is only dropping Common Core because of recent conservative backlash to the standards. Duncan said on CBS This Morning, "Gov. Jindal was a passionate supporter before he was against it. In that situation it's about politics. It's not about education."

In addition to fighting against Common Core, Jindal remains a staunch advocate for Louisiana's private school voucher program, which the Department of Justice says may violate desegregation efforts.

Who could have seen a politician flip-flopping on an issue and not caring about the children he governs? :o I know common core isn't perfect but I guarantee it's a hell of a lot better than whatever crazy nonsense this guy wants to implement

Ex-CBS Anchor Arrested for Calling His Wife 121 Times in Three Days

773715768425531566.jpg

Rob Morrison, the former CBS News anchor who was arrested last year for choking and threatening his wife, has run afoul of the law again — this time for harassing her by telephone.

Morrison allegedly made 121 calls to his wife over three days last month, the vast majority of which happened during a 14-hour period on May 25. Ashley Morrison — also a former CBS anchor — reported her husband to the Darien, Conn. police the day the day the harassment began, and he was arrested for violating a protecting order this week, the Connecticut Post reports.

Ashley Morrison told Darien Police Sgt. Keri Isaac she was scared and "she thinks Rob Morrison could kill her if she has him arrested." She said Rob Morrison told her that "she will never get rid of him," and she had fled to a friend's house with her son because she was afraid that he would show up at her home.

Rob Morrison alleges he made the calls not to harass his wife, but to speak to their son about a previous fight that ended with Ashley Morrison kicking Rob out of the family's house.

"There was no response and I became concerned," he said. "I don't want to talk to Ashley. I need to know my son is OK; what he witnessed, if it troubled him. We had long-term plans to go golfing the next day being broken. All he may be thinking is, 'Daddy's gone and he isn't coming back.' "

Over the course of the next couple days Morrison admitted, "I tried like hell to get in touch with her."

Police said Ashley Morrison was "irate" when she found out her husband was being arrested, and told an officer "things are fine and she does not want to pursue any charges."

After the arrest Monday, she picked up their son and flew to Florida. The Connecticut Post asked Rob why she might feel threatened:

"You are going to have to ask her that. I can't explain why someone who acts impulsively does or says the things they do," Morrison said.

I'm not buying this concerned daddy act from a wife beater. Guy is a psycho and should seek mental help

If you get called 121 times in three days by one person I think it's a reasonable response to book it put of state after notifying the cops.

He was on Duck Dynasty not too long ago as well. His politics and the fact he wants to be President, willing to bend to the will of the Tea Party is disconcerting.

Teen Loses Finger During Rave, Keeps Going Because "Bass Was Hard"

As they are wont to do, teens went wild at a rave in an abandoned Royal Mail sorting facility in Croydon, London this past weekend. But one teen raver, "Josh," really knows what it means to just be there for the music, man: Even after he lost a finger ripping off a screaming fire alarm, he went on dancing, because he figured, "**** it, let's skank on and enjoy it." He contends that he was completely sober the entire time.

Josh, or so he's called, regaled the night of finger-loss to that magazine, Vice:

Well, at about 1AM we were up in the house room, but I don't really like house so I was waiting for the drum 'n' bass to kick in. As soon as I heard it, me and my mate went down there. Five minutes in, the fire alarm starting going off and everyone was like, "Rip it off! Rip it off!" So I thought I'd give it a go. I was completely sober at the time. I jumped up, grabbed it and my little finger got caught in the case because it was all broken, and as I came to rip it back down, my little finger got ripped off completely.

Not one to dwell on damaged phalanges, Josh wrapped his finger up with his shirt and went on dancing.

I was in so much pain and shock that the first thing that hit my head was the beat and the bass. The bass was hard, so I just ripped off my top, wrapped it around my finger and tied it up as tight as I could and skanked it out for half an hour. My mentality was, 'I've only been here for an hour, I've paid £10 for this night, I've lost my little finger – am I seriously going to go? Nah, I'm going to skank until I can't skank any more.' After that, my mate dragged me down to the paramedics.

The rave wasn't all fun and games, though. Police were reportedly aggressive in their attempt to break up the rave, eventually consigning themselves to guarding the outside of the venue after it became clear that there were just too many people.

"Police were everywhere, to be honest, and they were quite violent at times—I saw one raver being jumped on and kneed in the chest when he was detained," Josh told Vice.

And 15-year-old Rio Andrew died the Monday after the rave. Police suspect his death might be drug-related.

Any rational person would find the finger and put it on ice and try and get to the hospital with hopes of not having to live the rest of their life without a finger. I have been to many an illegal rave here in FL and all I can say is kids these days really need to chill out. Also no way this kid wasn't on something

Mom Accused of Slowly Poisoning Her Son to Death to Spice Up Her Blog

773914955904486799.jpg

A mother who blogged about her 5-year-old son's chronic illness is accused of murdering the child with a fatal dose of sodium, delivered while he was in the hospital.

Lacey Spears, 26, originally from Decatur, Ala., but currently living in Chestnut Ridge, N.Y., was charged Tuesday with depraved murder and manslaughter. Police say her alleged poisoning of her son, Garnett-Paul Spears, was a ploy for attention.

She had been documenting his persistent health problems—including ear infections, unexplained fevers, seizures and digestive ailments—on social media, and brought him to a Rockland County hospital with seizures.

There, doctors noticed that sodium levels in the boy's body were far higher than what he could produce on his own. Prosecutors said Tuesday that Spears injected high doses of sodium into Garnett's stomach tube while hospital staff were out of the room.

A neighbor also told police that on the day of Garnett's death from a sodium overdose, Lacey Spears asked her to help hide a fluid bag like the one attached to the child's tube. Police recovered the bag, which contained high amounts of sodium.

Garnett's health problems started when he was 5 days old. Notably, there was an incident at 10 weeks where he stopped breathing and his sodium levels shot up unexpectedly. Doctors couldn't explain it at the time.

Spears concocted an elaborate framework of lies online, according to the Daily Mail. She wrote of Garnett's hero father, a policeman named Blake who died in a car accident. But Garnett's real father, Chris Hill, is still alive—he says she texted him, confessing to making up stories on her blog.

Spears's former best friend also says that when she let Spears babysit her son, the mommyblogger started telling people online that the boy was Garnett's brother.

Authorities believe Spears suffers from Münchausen syndrome by proxy, an illness characterized by injuring a child or making him sick to bring attention and sympathy to the parent.

Spears claims she only used salt as a seasoning for Garnett's food, and that he sometimes played with his feeding syringe in the hospital, so he may have put something into the feeding bag himself.

It's really a shame they couldn't figure out she was poisoning him before he lost his life, sadly I doubt many doctors jump to the conclusion that the mother is doing it. She is sick and disturbed and hopefully gets put away for a while and on the right kind of meds. Hopefully she never has another child to be responsible for

Hotel Cancels Reservation Because of Epileptic Son's Service Dog

774288903771876904.jpg

A North Carolina family's reservation at a Best Western in Baton Rouge, La. was canceled after the they informed the hotel that they would be bringing their epileptic son's service dog, a golden retriever named Chip, with them.

Karen Vaughn's son, Beau, has a rare form of epilepsy called Landau-Kleffner Syndrome, which requires that he have Chip, who is trained to alert the family when Beau has a seizure.

The Americans with Disabilities Acts covers service dogs like Chip, so while the Vaughns are not required to give notice when they bring the dog, they often do anyway as a courtesy. When they told the Best Western, the hotel responded by canceling their reservation.

"We got an email saying due to unforeseen circumstances, they will not be able to honor our reservations," Karen Vaughn told WAFB. Working through that they said, 'Oh you're bringing a pet and Best Western isn't pet friendly.'"

An employee at the hotel told WAFB that they are aware of the law that allows for Chip to be there, but also said "workers can't go against what the owner says."

Karen Vaughn, an attorney who specializes in the rights for children with special needs, was contacted a week later by Best Western corporate to apologize, and to tell her that they would honor their reservation.

"I've already booked with another hotel that's understanding and happy to follow the law," she told WAFB. "I don't want to go to a hotel where I have to force them to follow the law."

I would sue the pants off of them just on the principle alone. If you live in this area tell your friends and family to boycott this establishment

Business owner/manager should be more aware that in today world with the social networks stuff like that goes viral faster than a leak pic of the a nude actress.

I wouldn't call this "stupid". I would call it homicidal. A mother murdering her son in the hope that her blog gets more hits? When did she lose touch with reality?

When she came down with Munchausen-by-Proxy.

Thieves Caught on Video Stealing 6-Year-Old Burn Victim's Beloved Pug

[YT]BcDS4MNASQI#t[/YT]

Ellis Barrett is a 6-year-old boy who had multiple surgeries earlier this year after a terrible accident with scalding water. Peaches is the treasured pug puppy who comforted him when he came home from the hospital in February. This is a video of some jackholes in pink tracksuits chasing down and stealing Peaches.

"He's devastated she's gone and all we want is to find her," Ellis's mom, Lucy Swift, told the Daily Mail.

775222922629883938.png

The family has started a Facebook page seeking any information about the 7-month-old pug, who was taken from their home in Batley, West Yorkshire. West Yorkshire police are also investigating.

Peaches was not yet microchipped—she was too small during her first vet visit—which may make the search more difficult.

"I'm so gutted that she isn't microchipped but when we took her to the vets for her injections the vet said she was too small at the time," Swift told the Yorkshire Post.

The puppy is described as a diva who likes to sit around in a pram, but she's also Ellis's best friend, even getting in the bath with him. Swift added that Peaches also has a medical condition, making it even more urgent that she be returned home.

Dog theft has been on the rise in the U.K.—and reportedly becoming more organized—over the past five years.

Man Arrested for Stealing Bras in Town Called Bra

775216546300139667.jpg

A 28-year-old man was arrested for theft in Bra, Italy this week. The targets of his crime? Men's boxers, undershirts and jockstraps. Just kidding — what kind of a viral news item would that be? He was stealing bras, dummy.

According to The Local, the unnamed suspect had "a house full" of women's undergarments — hundreds, says La Repubblica — which he stole from clotheslines in the area overnight. He's currently under house arrest, because, zany and fun as this news item may be, he was still a criminal taking and hoarding other people's underwear. Probably all sniffing it and stuff, too. Think of the victims!

Drunk Felon's Stray Bullet Kills Father Bringing Home His Newborn Baby

Justin Ayers, 33, had just made it home from the hospital with his wife, extended family, and 3-day-old child when a drunk felon next door with a 9mm pistol fired a shot that traveled more than half a football field away, tore through Ayers' house, and killed him.

Ayers was a well-known musician and guitar teacher in Panama City, Florida, whose first child was born on Father's Day, just days before the the slug killed him during the baby's homecoming, according to the Panama City News Herald.

After arriving at the house where Ayers died Tuesday, police located a bullet hole in the sliding-glass door at the back of the family's home. They followed the bullet's path 200 feet, through thick brush, to Charles Shisler, 62, who lived in a house nearby and reportedly decided it would be a good idea to pick up his illegally owned semiautomatic weapon by the trigger, Raw Story reports:

When sheriff's deputies arrived, they found Shisler standing on his porch, although he initially was "belligerent" and uncooperative.

"The damn gun doesn't usually shoot," said Shisler, according to his arrest report. "You have to squeeze the hell out of the trigger to shoot it."

A blood test taken more than four hours after the shooting found that Shisler had a blood alcohol level of .079. The legal limit for driving in Florida is .08.

Shisler reportedly hid his gun under a mattress after the shooting. Police, who arrested him on multiple charges including manslaughter, reportedly recovered the gun but not its magazine.

As a felon, Shisler is not legally authorized to own a firearm. His previous conviction, in 2006, was for illegally carrying a concealed weapon.

Even police said they couldn't believe what happened. "The odds, I'd guess, are 1 in infinity," sheriff's deputy Tommy Ford told the News Herald. "This was just tragic."

Horrible thing to happen to anyone, more so for a new dad. The fact that he is a felon and still was in possession of a gun just makes me mad. I'm not one to say ban all guns but something needs to be done so people like this have a very hard time getting access to one

Motorcycle Tough Guy Confronts Reporter, Should've Just Kept Riding

[YT]qiDXda1WjrA[/YT]

KRON 4's "People Behaving Badly" is a recurring segment that wags a finger at the Bay Area's rude *******s for their minor transgressions, uniting its audience through the power of mutual hatred. But it transcended its mission in a recent segment when one of those *******s tried to fight back.

This motorcycle rider could have been just one of the many people who hold up traffic at the Golden Gate Bridge—a minor, anonymous shaming. Instead, he'll forever be known as that guy.

The moral of the story? Don't mess with KRON 4 reporter/ethicist Stanley Roberts. He will tell on you so hard.

This is hilarious

No problem. It fits here but it was just so sad that a young boy lost his life because his Mom needed some attention.

Unfortunately nothing will ever happen because of the NRA and "GUNZ IS MUH RITESZZZ, MURICA!!!!" crowd.
