Stupid People Doing Stupid Things Thread - Part 2

I really don't know how anyone can kill an elephant. When I see a picture or video of an elephant I want to pet one or feed it or make it happy not shoot it.

I'm a firm believer that if you kill an animal, it's either in defense, or to put food on your table. If people are killing an animal just because they can, or to put some stupid trophy head on their wall, they are lower than scum in my book.

Pennsylvania High School Students Organize “Anti-Gay Day”

The students coordinated wearing flannel shirts and wrote “anti-gay” on their hands after the school’s Gay-Straight Alliance held a “Day of Silence.”

Cops Seek Bunch of Jerks Driving Around With a Baby Sea Lion in the Car

poeaq3zkrskt6mdygg7l.png

Los Angeles police officers are reportedly searching for a quartet of Honda-driving California idiots who harassed a pair of baby sea lions before stealing one off the beach and throwing it in the trunk.

Rude, but why make a federal case out of it, you ask? Because as it turns out, taking cute baby sea lions isn’t just a dick move—it’s also literally a federal offense punishable by up to a year in jail (and a real bad look when potential dates google your name.) Via the Los Angeles Times:

The witness, described as a Los Angeles resident, said he saw two men and two women in their 20s throwing trash, and at one point a concrete cinder block, at two sea lion pups at around 3 a.m. Sunday morning, police said. The pups were not injured, he told police.

The witness, who was collecting containers for recycling at the time, saw one woman wrap one of the pups in a comforter and pack the animal in the trunk of a dark-colored Honda Civic, said Lt. Lydia Leos of the Los Angeles Police Department.

Still, an animal rescue spokesperson tells reporters the dumbasses might be in peril too—sea lions have notoriously strong bites and apparently carry more bacteria in their mouths than any other mammal.

Semi-Pro Soccer Player Fired for Humping in the Dugout While in Uniform

yqxm84u3mr0e2zfozze8.jpg

Jay Hart, a striker for semi-pro British soccer team Clitheroe, was cut from the squad after he was caught on video having sex with a fan in the dugout while still wearing his team warmups, the Mirror reports. The incident took place after an away game versus Mossley AFC. Every detail reported is more embarrassing than the last:

Clitheroe lost the game 4-1, making Hart a losing player banging a supporter in the opponent’s stadium. On Ladies Night, a promotion the home team had been running to encourage more female fans to attend.

Oh, and Hart is a relationship. His girlfriend, Bryony Hibbert, who is also the mother of his two children, is not especially happy that he was caught in flagrante with an apparent rando and is now out of a job.

“Have a bit of decency for the people it’s affected. Thank god my kids are too young to read,” Hibbert wrote on the team’s Facebook page, according to the Mirror.

Hope he’s got a great excuse. Maybe something about how he regrets getting caught and he’s sorry anyone could see him?

“I’m full of regret. I’d had a couple of drinks. I was away from everyone and thought I was hidden.”

Nailed it.

Mike Huckabee Tells Patriots: Don't Join Military Until Obama's Gone

ek6o2pjjp9bxsz48pxou.jpg

In 2007, folksy war addict Mike Huckabee told Meet the Press viewers that it’s dangerous “to oppose a sitting commander in chief while we’ve got people being shot at on the ground.” But it’s election time! So now, willing Americans, stay out of the military until you have a commander in chief that pleases Huck.

Speaking to conservative Iowa radio host Jan Mickelson late last week, the pork-fried former Arkansas governor (whose website teases a very important announcement in two weeks) said patriots who are willing to fight and die to support and defend the Constitution of the United States should, like, just hang out till 2017, because who wants to die for the bozo in the White House right now?

According to Right Wing Watch, Huckabee complained that President Obama’s “open hostility toward the Christian faith” made it impossible for truly god-fearing Americans to serve in uniform. Then came this fun exchange:

“Why would they want to be in a military that would be openly hostile and not just simply bring some scorn to their faith, but would punish them for it?” [Huckabee] asked.

This led Mickelson to ask Huckabee what he would tell parents whose children are considering joining the armed forces.

“There’s nothing more honorable than serving one’s country and there’s no greater heroes to our country than our military,” he responded, “but I might suggest to parents, I’d wait a couple of years until we get a new commander-in-chief that will once again believe ‘one nation under god’ and believe that people of faith should be a vital part of the process of not only governing this country, but defending this country.”

Sounds perfectly consistent with the purulent pundit’s political paradigm—except that it strikes a decidedly different tone than Huck was singing in 2007, at the height of disaffection with President Bush’s waging of the Iraq war. After telling MTP’s Tim Russert that Bush “did a great job of going in and toppling Saddam Hussein,” Huckabee was asked whether he would oppose sending more troops to war. He answered with a patriotic vow of loyalty to the White House:

GOV. HUCKABEE: I think that’s a dangerous position to take, to oppose a sitting commander in chief while we’ve got people being shot at on the ground. I think it’s one thing to have a debate and a discussion about this strategy, but to openly oppose, in essence, the strategy, I think that can be a very risky thing for our troops.

Do the troops currently on the ground in Afghanistan, Iraq, Africa and elsewhere deserve the same blanket “consideration” Huck extended the grunts eight years ago? Well, that was a different commander in chief. Clearly, anyone fighting for this president is a godless automaton. Things will be different under Huck’s new model army. Man, I can’t wait for ’17!

Sony Demands Censorship in the Name of Free Speech

etrxeoyrnf6qbdee4ynm.png

When hackers first released buckets of internal data out of Sony Pictures late last year, the company’s legal wing tried to scare both journalists and normal people away from the story. It didn’t work (unless you were an employee of the New York Times). Now Sony’s at it again, this time with the insane claim that looking at WikiLeaks threatens the First Amendment.

The Hollywood Reporter says that they, along with several other outlets, received a letter from Sony counsel David Boies the day after WikiLeaks opened its searchable Sony portal. In the letter, Sony makes an insanely convoluted and warped moral argument:

“Despite its purported commitment to free expression, WikiLeaks’ conduct rewards a totalitarian regime seeking to silence dissident speech, and imposes disincentives on entities such as SPE who depend on trade secrets, confidential information, and protection of intellectual property to exercise their First Amendment rights every day.”

The regime in question is North Korea which, as you may remember, was blamed for the hack despite the absence of any evidence. What I think Sony is trying to say here is that spreading or talking about the hacked material is somehow undermining our First Amendment rights, rather than exercising them. Which is very wrong and so dumb.

“SPE therefore again asks for your help in protecting the First Amendment and declining to exploit the Stolen Information,” the letter continues, hilariously. What better way to protect free speech than by shutting up? Sony concludes by demanding that everyone “take all reasonable actions to prevent your company and any of your employees, contractors, agents, consultants, or anyone who may have access to your files from examining, copying, disseminating, distributing, publishing, downloading, uploading, or making any other use of” its leaked data. What is this, North Korea?

Prosecutors Say Pennsylvania Teen Convinced a Soldier to Murder Her Mom

jfawfph5ovufqqnswhem.jpg

An eighth-grade Pennsylvania girl accused of having her mother killed over her dumb dating rules will reportedly be housed in an adult prison until her trial.

Jamie Silvonek, 14, and her alleged boyfriend, Caleb Barnes, a 20-year-old soldier stationed at Fort Meade, were arrested in March after Silvonek’s mother was found stabbed to death in a shallow grave outside of Philadelphia.

Prosecutors say Silvonek was upset her mother, Cheryl Silvonek, disapproved of the relationship. Via the AP:

Authorities said Barnes and the teenager met in October, when she was 13, but she told him she was 17. The teen’s mother found out about their relationship in early March and ordered them to end it. A day later, the teen told Barnes in a text, “I want her gone,” police said.

Even so, the Morning Call reports Cheryl “took her daughter and Barnes to a concert in Scranton and a diner near their home just before she was killed.”

Barnes, who was subsequently charged with murder, eventually admitted to stabbing Cheryl in his car, claiming Silvonek was sitting in the backseat during the attack.

On Saturday, a judge reportedly rejected Silvonek’s motion requesting transfer to a juvenile facility. The AP reports that prison authorities will keep the teen—who has been charged as an adult—housed “away from older inmates.”

I wasnt aware that Obama was going to every boot camp in america to *****slap christians. Obama really amazes me. He's gets so much done. What with running the country, plotting its demise, persecuting Christians, praying to Allah five times a day, and chatting it up with his terrorist buddies in Iran its amazing he has time to sleep.

That's what the robot lizard clones are for. Jeez Marv pay attention.

Politicians will say anything to get elected, stay elected or be seen in the news (to hopefully get/stay elected).

The dumbassery of conservatives is still astounding in it's boldface lying though.

Michele Bachmann: The Rapture Is Coming And It's Obama's Fault

Michele Bachmann says the rapture is coming, thanks to President Barack Obama’s policies on Iran’s nuclear program and marriage equality.

In a radio interview last week, Bachmann, the former Minnesota Republican congresswoman, told "End Times" host Jan Markell, “We need to realize how close this clock is getting to the midnight hour.”

“We in our lifetimes potentially could see Jesus Christ returning to earth and the rapture of the church,” Bachmann said. “We see the destruction, but this was a destruction that was foretold.”

Bachmann cited the Obama administration’s nuclear negotiations with Iran as a cause. The U.S. and five partner nations are discussing a deal with Iran that would prevent the country from developing or obtaining nuclear weapons.

“We are literally watching, month by month, the speed move up to a level we’ve never seen before with these events," Bachmann said. "Barack Obama is intent. It is his number one goal to ensure that Iran has a nuclear weapon.”

Later in the interview, Bachmann again tied her rapture prediction to Obama’s foreign policy.

“If you look at the president’s rhetoric, and if you look at his actions, everything he has done has been to cut the legs out of Israel and lift up the agenda of radical Islam,” she said.

Obama has said repeatedly that the goal of the nuclear talks with Iran is to prevent the country from developing a nuclear weapon.

Bachmann also blamed abortion and gay marriage, arguing that God is punishing the United States for “embracing a pagan view.”

“Any nation that accepts God and his principles is blessed, and those who push away are cursed. That’s what we’re seeing happen to the United States,” she said. “We will suffer the consequences as a result.”

Despite massive racism, slavery and lots of other terrible things, gay marriage is what god is starting the rapture for. That's the deal breaker? What a bunch of morons.

If I went around saying gay marriage and abortion are going to bring about a Covenant Invasion, I would probably be committed to a mental hospital. But change the source material slightly and I get to be a Republican spokesperson. Go figure.

Hey man, I played Halo. They less chance we have of breeding more humans the more they're for it. If anything I think they'd try and help push that along. I'd lock you up for that crazy talk too.

Whoa, Huckabee's really putting that weight back on.

Conservative Lawyers to Court: Gay Marriage Will Cause 900,000 Abortions

tnrb3bjcd5w8umv3xfx3.jpg

With the Supreme Court gearing up to make an historic decision on same-sex marriage later this month, a group of 100 conservative “scholars” filed a last-ditch attempt to convince the Court to put a stop to all this sin once and for all. Their argument, in short: legalizing same-sex marriage would directly lead to 900,000 more abortions in 30 years.

The logic—to use the term loosely—goes as follows: Legalizing same-sex marriage “undermines” traditional marriage. If traditional marriage loses its value, men and women are going to have less incentive to get married in the first place. Once that happens, similarly traditional values (like monogamy and waiting until marriage to have children) “will likewise crumble.” And everyone knows how much unmarried women love their abortions.

Except, try as they might, correlation still doesn’t prove causality. Even Gene Schaerr, the former clerk of Justice Antonin Scalia who officially filed the brief, admitted to the Washington Post that “it is still too new to do a rigorous causation analysis using statistical methods.” And yet! Schaerr and co. trudge forth.

From the Post:

For instance, [Schaerr and his colleagues] say that declining marriage rates in a handful of states that have legalized same-sex marriage — Vermont, Massachusetts, Iowa — are proof of the harmful effects of gay marriage. That evidence seems to ignore the fact that marriage rates have declined in places like Texas and Utah as well, or that the overall U.S. marriage rate has been on the wane for decades

This false causality alone would be one thing, but the assertion that this would all result in the abortions of “nearly 900,000 more children of the next generation” is based on absurd and even (willfully?) incorrect assumptions. The brief argues that it “conservatively [assumes] that half of the decline in marriages over the next generation would come from women who permanently never marry as opposed to delaying marriage.” A statistic it cites as coming from this Pew study. Except that the study actually claims that only 25% (not half) of child-bearing-age adults will have never married by 2030—which is about as far as it’s comfortable going.

And that fake number continues to be extrapolated until Schaerr finally lands on his scandalous 900,000, entirely made-up abortions.

Allen West Thinks School-Sponsored Prayer Will Stop Football Injuries

[YT]fPVh7vkBuRw[/YT]

Disgraced Floridian and former congressman Allen West took some time recently to address a Texas conservative group about the dangers of separating church and state—dangers like grievous football injuries, specifically. But thankfully, that ain’t nothing a little prayer can’t fix.

So where does West get off making these claims? Allow him to explain:

Now see, I remember growing up in the inner city of Atlanta, Georgia. I went to Grady High School and I played football and we didn’t have all this high-speed gear and everything like that, there was no such thing about ‘targeting.’ I mean, you were not a tough football player unless you did try to hit someone head-on. And even in high school, before every game at Grady Stadium, the pastor would come down and pray before every football game. I don’t remember catastrophic injuries. I don’t remember anyone getting carted off that field paralyzed.

It appears West’s various head-on attacks did a little more damage than he realizes, because his claims of a lack of “catastrophic injuries” back in his day are demonstrably false. What’s more, the instance he was responding to didn’t even involve removing prayer from football entirely.

West was angry about a letter sent to the University of Tennessee from the Freedom of Religion Foundation, which had complained about explicitly Christian prayers held during practice. In response, the school conceded to hold “non-sectarian” prayers instead.

Prayers that, apparently, aren’t quite godly enough to stave off those annoying debilitating concussions.

Didn't you hear the new statistics? Anytime someone gay marries, a billion babies are never conceived! At this rate we'll be extinct in negative three thousand years! Doesn't that worry anyone?
