I LOVED Harry's little addiction sPeech. Kids NEED to hear this kind of stuff and it was just so poignant and well done.

I gave the episode and 8. My biggest qualms were the aforementioned paradox regarding Peter & Mark's voice recognition and Gobby, who's a mixed bag. He comes off as the stereotypical "effeminate weirdo villain" (Scar, Xerxes, Riddler, "Him") mixed in with The Joker. It's a little hard to take him seriously as a mob boss when he's got "Please kick my ass!" just written all over him but he does have his moments. However, walking around in broad daylight in a trenchcoat and fedora are

As far as tragedy episodes go, this one may well be my favorite.

totally agree with you dude, the episode well written at some parts i just loved seeing Gobby back in a full episode again.

anyone know when we are supposed to get the last two episodes of the season?

Yeah, that deal with him wearing the trench coat and fedora over his costume bugged the heck out of me, too. Honestly, does any one really buy the idea that just because somebody can but on a trench coat and hat nobody would recognize them? Not to mention it's been overdone with folks like the Thing and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (as well as being another take of on Superman's glasses disguise as Clark Kent) but it still doesn't make it any less plausible.

As for Spidey and others being able to recognize Mark as the Molten Man due to his voice, while no one recognizes Spidey's voice as Peter's, I suppose one could argue that the mask somewhat muffles Peter's voice making it harder to recognize, not to mention he slightly changes it's pitch to some degree. Hmm, maybe the series should hand out no prizes? :woot:

What a fantastic episode! :wow::up:
Moleen Man was fantastic, and the Goblin was so badass! Loved the scene where the Goblin came into the bar and started beating everyone up. Also, Molten Man's look was great. Loved how it resembled the comics, but also had new stuff mixed in.
Overall, a fantastic episode, and I can't wait to see what happens next.

Thanks Ratcrawler. You saved me the bother of typing this out. My thoughts exactly

I also have never been a big fan of Molten Man. He's just a poor man's Human Torch, IMO. But I did enjoy seeing Mark's gambling addiction, and how it affected MJ and Liz.

I really love Blackie Gaxton. To think he only appeared in one Spider-Man comic. They've really made something good out of this character.

The constant flashbacks got a little annoying sometimes. Other than that, it was still an enjoyable episode.

8/10.

I agree to a point but there is a difference.

Peter, Liz and MJ are all actively looking for Mark so it would be more natural to think of Mark and after seeing Molten Man it's far easier to recognise him under the armour than Peter under the mask.
I would be 100% behind this explanation, if it wasn't for Identity Crisis. However I'm still tempted to go with this clarification.

I enjoyed this episode a lot with it being a reminiscent of season 1 episodes where the super villains were created but it had far more emotional impact due to the characters involved and the background players in the story. I really liked the use of the flashback device in the episode.
I totally agree with this. Mark reminded me so much of Max in Interactions.

A good episode but not as good as Gangland was. A good beginning to the Green Goblin arc. So many similarities with this GG and The Joker. I though the flashback used in The Catalyst was better but I guess it worked a bit for this episode.

Isn't the next new episode on tonight?

Great reviews from you guys who posted back in page 4 and this page. As for the episode i enjoyed it alot. Just finished watching it on yt myself. Thankfully didnt have my afternoon class today so had alot more free time to do what ever.

As for the episode great start to the final arc of the season Green goblin's return. It was sweet that they have him now trying to take over the city from tombstone's downfall as the big man and he is being the master manipulator he is. Also it was good to see him back in a full episode. Cant wait to episode 26 to find out if it has always been harry or if its always been Norman and he had tricked spidey into thinking it was harry and all that.

As for peter it was great he was trying to be a better boyfriend to liz and being more attentive to her and brought her a flower. It was also smart of him to not be seen hanging around gwen(which i love them now having her be more classic comics gwen looks, please Greg get that classic black headband on her pronto).

As for mark allan's downfall and gambling problem it was done very well. Like that they had it set up from his first appearance a couple episodes ago and lead up to today's episode. It was also good to see mj does/did really like mark but her stands on dating/non dating prevented her from helping him sooner. It was interesting to have miles be norman's new go to man for experimentations and all that. Loved that they modified molten man's origins and had it be nano tech that was remote controled. Nice twist on the molten man character since in the comics he was stuck like that form for good. But i bet we will see him revert back into molten man in the near future if we get more seasons.

As for molten man's looks i thought it looked well in motion and was great to finally see this classic character make it into animation form. Though like others have said he was pretty much a poor man's human torch. Though since we have molten man now and see how they can do a fire/lava character we can pretty much see how they could pull off one day if we ever got to see torch guest star in an episode.

The set up of the episode was pretty good loved the theater/flashback set ups. I dont really like this type of story telling always because some shows/movies dont use it correctly. But when its done well it works out good. Also i got to say the fights, and the quips were good.

I like that he is at least able to revert back to his human form.

norman's more intimidating than goblin. Don't know why tombstone doesn't beat him silly.

Because Tombstone knows that the Goblin is a superhumanly strong psychopath with an arsenal of high-tech weapons and a remote-controlled glider? Gobby may look silly, but he's an incredibly dangerous enemy- look at the way he takes apart the crooks at Gaxton's with minimal effort. Tombstone is not a stupid man, and knows to pick his battles. He may well have a scheme to take the Goblin down that we simply don't know about.

Besides, the scene cuts out right after Gobby finishes gloating- for all we know, Tombstone immediately lunges at him and Goblin calls in his glider, making a quick getaway. In either event, Tombstone's good, but even he couldn't defeat the Goblin easily.

Great episode, not as good as the previous one but still great. Warren, what a jerk. I digged Gobby's glasses, very intellectual. Is that the end of Moltan man or what? I think he will proberbly appear next episode. I liked the way this episode was done. Nice to see Pete and Liz made up. This reminded me of ASM 11 where (as mentioned) the brother paid a price but Gobby replaced Ock instead and obviously there are other notable changes. Gwen is huggable now...and before^^
Moltan Man had a nice tragic origin, loved his eye change. Wonder if he will turn back into him. Gobby ruled taking those thugs down.

Hmmm...well, with the Gang War episodes being meh for me, and then this episode being very meh...the next two (ie: final two) episodes need to be on the ball. Of course, I won't hold this season's flaws too heavily against this season.

The Master Planner and Venom arcs were just pure perfection. If anything, season two will go down in the anals of animated awesomeness just for those arcs alone.

I loved Goblin in this (as I always have in this series) with him being so Joker esque (DCAU Joker to be exact) it will deliver a great contrast with the personality of Hobgoblin...who is supposed to be "sane". Speaking of Hobgoblin, I wonder if Kingsley will show up once this arc.

Sure this episode cements my belief that the Goblin is Norman and only Norman even more than normal, but Harry's little drug speech was an interesting touch. There's no way those thugs could have survived that explosion, despite us seeing their bodies as Goblin flies by (whith the smoke coving thier faces [good touch]). Norman has really gone off the deep end as Goblin wearing his costume and a trenchcoat making him blend in with the crowd in some odd way. I kinda liked it because Norman and Goblin are similar to Batman and Bruce Wayne. The costumed version is the true version...just manifested into extremes.

It is nice to know that Peter learned from his Lizard mistake a few months back and doesn't take pictures of EVERY Spidey battle.

Speaking of lizards, Miles Warren is the [beep]. Knowing that he doesn't have to hide his experimentation because Curt Connors will be exposed if he doesn't keep his mouth shut. There is nothing the Connors can do about Warren...Also, can we get Debra to speak and appear one time[more than 2 seconds]? (I kind of want to see if it is someone BESIDES Cree Summer, like the Kingsleys weren't voiced by Phil Lamarr, Kevin M. Richardson, or Keith David) Atleast we see Hobbie, we barely see the gal....

Everytime I see Gobby in that coat & hat getup, I imagine him selling drugs to school kids in an ally...

Mark must be pretty terrified though, knowing there's a psychopath out their with his finger on a button that could change him back into Molten Man.

Also, "hottie" Gwen is gonna take some getting used to. I could've sworn it was Sally sneaking up behind Pete with a great big smile. I kind of loved how Harry told her to give him and Pete a minute alone, like a very polite "Get lost, Dollface, the men are talking."

After seeing this episode, I've got to say Hammerhead is the biggest idiot for not realizing he got played. Seriously he did majority of the Green Goblin's dirty work without knowing he's not gonna get anything out of it.

What a tool.

Well...that was kinda the point. Even Silvermane and Doc O ck agreed that he was too much of a chump to even think up those his plans himself.

Kinda feel bad for the guy.

Also, HOORAY FOR THE RETURN OF PANTS-LESS LIZ lol

Is Molten Man a product of the "Super Rhino" process that Norman "sold" but didn't sell?

could any mods fix the title of this thread to match the other episode threads?

It was an enjoyable episode at best, on the same par as Col. Jupiter's episode, but a tad more interesting in this case. I'm glad Pete and Liz are still together, Liz is just getting more likable by the passing of each episode, good change from the likes of your usual heroines who always whine about things. Some nice quips here and there. But for me Green Goblin was the main highlight of the show, and I'm glad he's back. However, I still can't take him seriously with that costume design unless he does something extremely horrifying, he looks funny in that suit :yay:. I would rate it 7/10.

That's one of my gripes from most super-hero movies or cartoons. How is that they were able to recognize Mark when they can't even recognize one person they have known for so long now? It just annoys me really. Also, Oddie or whatever that kid's name is, that character is really bugging me now. Either make him talk and don't make him appear at all, it's gotten old and it isn't funny anymore.

Hobie probably doesn't talk because a Prowler rarely speaks

Green Goblin is such a cool villain! He's so manipulative, a great fighter, menacing, and just plain evil! He's also funny. I know some people may think he's like the Joker, but no matter. I still think he's the best Green Goblin in an animated cartoon. He beat up the thugs in the bar with ease. Hardly worked out a sweat! When he stalked Mark, it was really creepy and in a way, scary. That grin on his face... [[weird]] .

I felt very sorry for Mark when he turned into the Molten Man. I hope he returns and goes back normal. But I doubt he will be normal again. Unless, Mark can get that remote from Green Goblin.

Nice to see Peter making up to Liz. Now, that's what I like to see! So does Liz hate Spider-Man? I don't think so, because, well, Spider-Man saved her and Liz saw the whole thing, so she shouldn't blame Spider-Man for what happened.

10/10! Till tomorrow!
