Suicide Squad: General Discussion and Speculation - - - Part 12

I generally don't like the idea that you're not allowed to change your opinion. "Oh you loved the Nolan movies but with this fresh new product you're hating on them!"

The new material that we have (BvS, SS) did alter how I look at the Nolan movies. I still love them, but the bad fight scenes only become worse when you see Batman kicking ass in the BvS trailer. The Batman lore that is incorporated into the new DC universe (the Robin suit, all the villains) really puts a spotlight on how empty the Nolan movies were in terms of lore. That is NOT necessarily a bad thing, but it shows how new movies can change your view on old movies.

No one ****ing said you weren't allowed to change your opinion.

Geez, who pissed in your cereal?

Nope, that's not him. It's Raymond Obuwale. I think those people are just visitors for the actors.

I'm thinking now that we'll get the King Shark scene from AoA... to show why the villains tow-the-line.

What a treat that the SS "first look" has more views than BvS. I remember friends saying this wouldn't be appealing and how the aesthetics of the film looked cheap and it would not generate hype.

:funny: Wow.

I think most of us on here are of like mind in wanting both films to succeed, but it's fun to observe what makes them distinctive from each other, beyond the obvious. Suicide Squad, in particular, isn't a widely known product. So, how the general audience responds to it for whatever reason (e.g., Joker's cult status, Harley's novelty) makes for somewhat interesting discussion.

Who wouldn't want both films to succeed.

And are my eyes deceiving me or is there is new "vs" war brewing? DC vs DC?! :o

Both of these films are really different while still existing in the same universe. I love that and I am looking forward to them both. Comparing them is a waste of time. And I love how this DCEU so far feels interconnected and tonally the same but at the same time it's not so uniform.

It's cool the SS has surpassed BvS. It being a different type of film seems to be help selling it. Funny how WB didn't want to release the trailer before.

Could be wrong, but didnt that guy on the left play Rick Flag on Smallville?

Maybe Ayer did a slight nod to that show and made him Rick Flag SR. in Suicide Squad?

or maybe not.

ETA: Guy on the right is actor David Harbour.

Pretty sure it's him.

I think like MOS, it's mostly just a case of Canadian actors popping up in various films and shows all the time.

I don't know how I missed those GIFS. They are gorgeous!!

I see Scott Eastwood in the background during the final group shot. Any idea who he's playing yet or is he just a random solider?

He was rumored to be Steve Trevor, but he's probably just a new character for the movie.

I feel like El Diablo's sole role in the squad is to be used as an example of what happens when one tries to cross The Wall. He's definitely not sticking around.

Great gifs btw.

Nah I feel Slipknot's more expendable.

I notice this alot actually.
The old "I'm looking forward to this more than BvS..or vice versa". I really don't see this sort of thing all that much with the distinguished comp, all their entries are treated as one front and if one is 'poor' the other one picks up the reigns if you will. Meh, as long as people are supporting cbms in some fashion I suppose.

I think DC fans just feel they have more to prove on a cinematic front and are rallying behind their favorite characters to prove that the DCEU will be a real force. Not to mention the characters in BvS fight the characters is SS historically. It's easy to find yourself choosing a side.

Once both release, we'll probably see a more united front. Fans will feel less like they have something to prove and more just excited to see new movies.
