Suicide Squad: General Discussion and Speculation - - - - - Part 14

Kevin Smith is becoming quite the spokesman for DC now.

Looking forward to the new trailer tho.

Bout time he's involved, he did write the first film script for WB to feature batman and superman in the same movie. Then was rejected lol

Jon Peters was an executive producer on MOS who apparently wasn't actually very involved at all in the production. I believe he got paid 15 million in addition to the movie making all his dreams come true:

-Polar bears.
-Superman fighting a giant spider.
-Eyes of a f***ing killer, etc.

Jon Peters almost made George Miller quit directing after how he treated him during the making of The Witches of Eastwick.

Watch that Burton Superman doc and see how crazy Peters is. Lawd.

The incredible professional opportunities continued for Barinholtz after he returned to film the third season of The Mindy Project when he auditioned for a role in Suicide Squad, DC Comics’s big budget super villain team-up co-starring Will Smith, Margot Robbie, Jared Leto, and Viola Davis. The movie, once again, afforded him the chance to try something new. “Going to Suicide Squad was a very different experience. I don't want to say it was agro-male because Margot Robbie is tougher than any of the guys, but it was just a very raucous set,” he said of the gritty, action-heavy blockbuster. “[Director] David Ayer is very dark. He chases that real darkness and says crazy things to you before a take to get your head spinning. He likes to psychologically get in there. He would tell us, ‘You know on Fury, right before a scene, I almost got Shia [LaBeouf] and [Jon] Bernthal into a fistfight.’ And it's like, I don't want to do that!! But he gets great performances out of actors and the movie is so big in scope. When I think of some of those sets, it's like, This is the size of Universal Studios. It was very, very, very different.”

Keeping the details of a super high-profile movie secret has also been a new experience for Barinholtz, who wasn’t even able to speak in depth about the character he plays. “I have David Ayer in my head being like, ‘I'm going to kill you if you say anything,’” he said before thinking for a solid minute. “I can say it's probably not who you think it is. I can say that he's definitely someone that people will not like, and he is someone who likes to really mess with people — likes to really hurt people and **** them up.”

Off set, the cast of Suicide Squad bonded by getting matching tattoos and while Barinholtz didn’t get one (“My wife said, ‘If you come back with a tattoo from a movie you are in, I'll know what kind of man you are,’” he recalled), he did emerge from the experience with some new impressions to add to his repertoire. Robbie’s Australian accent was just one of the nearly dozen Barinholtz busted out during the course of our hourlong interview. They ranged from Arnold Schwarzenegger, Donald Trump, and Mindy Kaling to a used car salesman, a chain restaurant waiter, and an old-timey Hollywood agent.

Twitter is coming up with theories of who he is playing. I still think its just a Belle Reve guard.

On one hand the leak face us a super early look at the suicide squad which was pretty cool. On the other hand WB marketing was forced to wait a long time for the second trailer.

It's so strange to know Gosling was practically handed the part before utterly rejecting it due to the franchise deal. That would've been an intriguing choice, though ultimately I think we got the more appropriate actor.

Who knows, maybe if someone else took the part instead of Heath we'd be laughing at how we dodged the bullet from that "Brokeback" dude.

Whats even stranger :sly:is the other role he wanted first

Leto and his representatives had previously expressed interest in Marvel’s “Doctor Strange,” though the studio was seeking a more established star to help introduce one of its lesser-known characters to audiences. That led Leto to Warner Bros., which has been eager to work with the gifted actor and 30 Seconds to Mars frontman.

Ironically Leto is a way better actor than Cumberbatch
I can't really imagine gosling as Joker though

Well the SS trailer just passed 60 million views on Youtube.

The hype is insane.....

Happy New Year! So proud to be part of the DC family. 2016 will bring wonders! @DCComics @WarnerBrosEnt

Cumberbatch is a more established actor than Leto? I don't know how they are measuring establishment

No, but he won an Oscar and a Golden Globe the year they were casting Strange.

Being in a blockbuster doesn't mean you're established. Lots of new bloods are given a blockbuster to see if they can get established.

Hmm, Leto going after Dr. Strange kind of puts me at ease in regards to his openness for sequels.

Dr. Strange would have surely meant a multi-picture deal.

I know, but it probably helped Cumberbatch's chances having been the main villain in STID, the lead in Sherlock and the voice of Smaug. Marvel wanted the most popular "name" even though Cumbie isn't exactly A list either.

Probably more exhausting being the "Joker" instead of being Strange though.

I hope the guy relaxes for the next movie. :woot:

Can someone take an image request?

In the trailer, when the Joker says "I'm not gonna kill ya," right before the screen cuts to black he has this very demented smile on his face. Anyone able to get a screencap of it?
