Actually, that's what will happen with SOME people. Others will hate the look no matter how good the performance, simply because it's more fun to b***h about something on the internet than it is to actually enjoy it.

But you can't change people's aesthetic taste all the time. I don't know why it's an all or nothing position to have on this interpretation? If someone likes the performance, but hates the look, I don't see what's wrong with that? Now, if someone hates the design so much, that it overshadows their ability to enjoy the performance in any capacity whatsoever, then sure, I can see how it would be troubling.

I mean, you hear about it all the time with Bale's Batman. They like his performance, but don't like the Batsuit. I see people say that a lot. It's nothing new.

Oh, I agree with you there. I can see people loving the performance but still not liking the look; it doesn't have to be all or nothing. However, I'm also pretty confident that there will be a few people who will deem it an absolute failure regardless of the performance, and they'll spend their "in-depth reviews" just going on and on about his tattoos and teeth.

It worked with Ledgers Joker because they were scars and he could keep telling different lies about it. So it was cool that it was mysterious.

However, I really want to know the reason for the tats and really hope the grill is because Batman knocked his teeth out. If he's just wearing the grill just because

They need to explain themselves. If you like it you like if you don't then too bad. An explanation isn't going to make it any better. I think jokers teeth got knocked out, but if its a grill then so what, what makes the difference? Is teeth are still going to be shiny. Its just the design.

This movie really feels like something from the 90s so far. Really has that Shane Black/Scott Rosenberg/Quentin Tarantino vibe for me with a touch from 90s Besson and Fincher.

I really don't get that at all. It looks thoroughly like a modern film, especially a David Ayer one, though there's a smidge of Tarantino in there for sure. A little bit.

Maybe not 90s, though the trailer could get recut to 90sify it, maybe I'll do that if I find time.

But its mostly using practical effects, which adds to that feel. The little dialogue we've heard does seem sharp witted like a Tarantino film.

Even to here him talk about it you see a lot of contemporary descriptions

I think the world-building of this film is going to make me appreciate the Squad more. What, with the Superman mention, Batman cameo, Joker appearance, Midway City, and maybe Luthor. Also Slipknot might bluff that he tied up Wonder Woman (I think this was an interview with the actor??)

And Katana being the only voluntary Squad member is obviously setup. She might be part of The Outsiders.
