Suicide Squad: General Discussion and Speculation - Part 18

I don't think Batman is involved with the main action going on.

Which is another curious thing about it. At what point does he notice? Of all people who would intervene it would be him. Isn't there a rumor that his role is larger than what people realize?

Why would WW help Batman take down criminals in Gotham? She has other things to do like find the Metahumans or whatever she's been doing after she left the island. She didn't even care about what was happening in Metropolis until Doomsday showed up.

Apparently you watched some other film. Do you not remember her pontificating about how she stopped caring for mankind until the events of Doomsday? That was the whole point of showing her - that she's back to fight the good fight leading into the Justice League.

So now they've got part of team, what would be more important? Stopping some mass chaos in Midway or the search for other meta's before a definitive cosmic threat has even shown itself?

Greg Miller loved the trailer. But says WB is getting dangerously close to revealing a lot like Batman v Superman. Going over the last 3 trailers he's sort of got the structure for the movie.

We saw in the other trailer that Midway has been quarantined. Maybe that's why Batman isn't there before the Squad is.

Any time you have a film where a team is formed you can generally figure out the structure of the film.

Why would WW slap Bruce? Now if Lois slapped Bruce I would have probably nodded my head in agreement.
Indeed. What am I thinking? :loco: She didn't know Bruce kicked Superman's ass in a major way.

But it's not like WW and Superman were friends. She had no emotional ties to him.
But she saw his sacrifice. She came to his funeral. Not like it was a diplomatic routine. I'm pretty sure she was genuinely sad.

The question posed about what IF Superman does this or that doesn't really get answered (or really has a place in this movie) because these yahoos stand less than zero chance against dead Superman let alone alive one so that was odd. The rest of the trailer seemed like they are throwing everything at you.
I find this new popular HQ aggravating. Btas HQ will always be the one and only.

Because of Will Smith (and if it gets decent reviews), I might check out cam version.

Cool.

I'll just buy an extra ticket and yo ass won't matter.

WW is probably in Atlantis recruiting Aquaman.

He is lame. Nothing different about his voice, mannerisms, anything.

You can swing from his sack all you want but he seems out of place from all the trailers to me.

I loathe Jai Courtney, fallout from Terminator I guess, but even he looks to have come with something different in this.

Jai freakin Courtney looks more promising and believable in this setting than Will.

They probably picked him to draw in the non comic/comic movie audience.

I think BvS is the reason they released this trailer today. Help divert attention away from the fact that a Melissa McCarthy movie can over take BvS at the weekend box office in only it's 3rd week with no competition around :o

I don't know the validity to the reason behind the reshoots. Movies have done them, and they can and can't work. That being said, the bar scene could have easily been a reshoot since there were no FX there and it was just dialogue.

According to Jai, the reshoots are to add more action:

Jai Courtney, who plays Boomerang in the film, tells Entertainment Tonight that comedy had nothing to do with it.

“I wouldn’t say we’re going back to make it funnier,” he says of the newly shot sequences. “There’s some additional action stuff that we’ve been doing, which is pretty dope. Yeah, really, we’re just kind of adding in that sense.”

When the ET reporter reiterates that she’d read that the new scenes were designed to add more jokes that match the tone of the initial, well-received Suicide Squad trailer, Courtney simply says: “You can’t believe everything you read.”

The humour has been there from the first trailer, but the last two have more, that's all. With characters like Harley and the Joker, the humour was always going to be there no matter what. The three trailers have been good, I prefer the first two though.

What happened to the people whining about the tattoos? Nothing to say anymore? They love everything Ayer is doing now? :woot:

The movie should get decent reviews because it should be fun enough for shallow critics, but some of David Ayer's movies have bad reviews:

Sabotage RT 19%

Street Kings RT 36%

There are no guarantees, but if I like the movie, that's what matters to me, I don't care about critics that seem to think all these movies should have the same tone or forced, dumb juvenile humour to work. Nolan was lucky they didn't care back then, Tim Burton was not so lucky with Batman Returns:

Batman Returns received a lot of controversy for being too dark and received a PG-13 rating for brooding, dark violence by the MPAA.

The initially negative reaction to Batman Returns, however, prompted Warner Brothers to re-think their approach to the franchise, and the series was handed to director Joel Schumacher, who adopted a much more lighthearted and camp approach to the characters. However, the generally very negative critical and fan reaction to the Joel Schumacher films in the franchise, particularly 1997's Batman & Robin, sparked a critical re-evaluation of Tim Burton's dark, gloomy and expressionistic first sequel in the franchise.

So, now dark is out again and fun is in... till critics change their minds again!! That's how people work, they just get tired of one thing after a while, it doesn't matter how good or not the object actually is. People are fickle!

I thought the same thing.

I guess someone should make a terrible light-hearted comic book film for critics to switch their cans.

Ok? Good for him I guess?
