I still think I'll like SS, but if the box office isn't great they really need to put a hold on Flash and Aquaman.

I just think DC needs to take a breather and plan better instead of just barreling through things

also, with all the piracy, profitability is even more in question. i mean look at the problems x men and CW had because those movies premiered in Europe and the far East a week or so before US. cam and TS copies of the movies were already online by that time.

So let me get this right.....fanboys (including myself) of this genre don't understand why the general audience won't want to go see this movie due to the RT score? Hypocrisy is a horrible thing.
Let's say that you somewhat like the horror genre. A movie is coming out that has piqued your interest. The RT score is horrible....are you going to go to the theater and pay all that money hoping the critics are wrong? I don't know about you but I'm not spending my hard earned money on crap that I may be disappointed in. I'm pretty sure I'd be waiting for it to hit Redbox.
The problem is not the regular joe making the choice not to see this and forming their own opinion....the problem is the crappy movies that WB spits out.
I say this as a huge fan of these movies....so disappointed with WB

ha
it reminded me of Superman project Kevin Smith worked on.
Can't post here obviously, and we've probably all seen it anyway, but Smith's story about the Superman project and Jon Peters is one of my favorite things ever.

Why did they think they'll get 800mill? GotG which had like the perfect storm earned 773!
the **** with critics. I understand they have a job to do. I believe after seeing guardians and deadpool that greatness isn't always obvious. I'm going
to take a deep breath; buy some popcorn and watch this with the same boyish enthusiasm as I have every awesome "looking" movie since star wars. I may end up coming out scratching my head and wondering what they were thinking but I will let the movie speak for itself. Forget Marvel. Forget critics. Watch
it and come back here and discuss it. I value the opinions I read here far more than those in professional reviews.

If that THR story is true, it really helps me focus my frustration on the studio.
I liked BvS and chances are I'll like SS. But, WB brought in too many directors that I like to be meddling.
Since way before BvS when WB was talking about their director driven approach, I was excited that there'd be these varying styles of DC movies. Snyder, Ayer, Wan...for me the potential of that approach was amazing.
But if WB starts worrying and getting involved, then they were just pandering.

I hope that bringing in Geoff Johns means these issues will be ironed out but for all I know that was a superficial decision. We can only see how the movies after that decision pan out.

Putting aside the actual quality of the film for a second, the creative process by WB reported in the article is seemingly problematic.

Boy: Why're they hating on the DCEU, Dad?

DC Fan: Because they have to hate on it.

Boy: They didn't do anything wrong.

DC Fan: Because they're the heroes DC deserves, but not the one Hollywood needs right now. So they'll hunt them because they can take it. Because they're not our heroes. They're silent guardians, watchful protectors. Unfairly criticized knights.

It seems that whereas Marvel tells their directors what they want from a film upfront then WB lets their directors do their thing and then start panicking and changing things up after the fact.

the moment the acrticle mentions two working versions of the movie you know that isn't going to end well.

Hell if The Avengers was never made, we wouldn't even have a DCEU to begin with..

This whole thing reminds me of BvS. Generally poor reviews, too many passionate fans who've already invested in it emotionally going into denial kidding themselves the early reviews probably don't mean anything and generally getting angry and frustrated.

I get that these reviews don't necessarily mean we won't like it as individuals, but it does indicate a certain lack of quality that will probably be important in hooking the general public and when you're universe building these things are very important

It really makes me question just how much things will change with Johns running the films. This is where the problem lies, the WB system, whatever it is, is ****ed.

Johns wrote reshoots / additional photography for Skwad...

And quite funny that Faraci and McWeeny were correct with their DC scoops.

Exactly. Marvel sets parameters, and let's directors work in them. DC sets no parameters, then back pedals.

Unfortunately true. Let's hope Wan can pull off Aquaman and Rick isn't thrown into a pressure cooker of a film production.
I'm worried about Famuyiwa. At least Wan has blockbuster experience, so he know his way around big studio and its people.
Famuyiwa need assistance, not pressure that now apparent in WB.
