Take for instance Avengers infinity War. It doesnt start shooting until December. Yet the writers are 3+ drafts in already, months before anything is actually shot. there are sooo many moving parts to making these movies you need time to iron out all the kinks that pop up along the way.
In May, Ayer's more somber version and a lighter, studio-favored version were tested with audiences in Northern California. "If there are multiple opinions that aren't in sync, you go down multiple tracks two tracks at least," says an insider. "That was the case here for a period of time, always trying to get to a place where you have consensus." Those associated with the film insist Ayer agreed to and participated in the process. Once feedback on the two versions was analyzed, it became clear it was possible to get to "a very common-ground place." (The studio-favored version with more characters introduced early in the film and jazzed-up graphics won.) Getting to that place of consensus, however, required millions of dollars worth of additional photography.

Multiple cuts of Suicide Squad were being developed simultaneously

So the studio version of BvS got a theatrical release and it was a mess. The studio version of Suicide Squad was released in theaters and it is apparently a mess. WB clearly doesnt know what the **** they are doing.
Have you ever watched Stuckmann? He is the least entitled person I can imagine. Oh, he shared an idea of something he thought would work better? The entitlement!!!!Stuckmann's script write up is the epitome of entitled fanboys who think they know better
This is so true.I'd like to see option #1 instead of #4 pls

Well the director's version of BvS didn't work out any better. I'd say it is worse. The problem here is in pre-production imo. And who they hire of course.Multiple cuts of Suicide Squad were being developed simultaneously

But I thought they were supporting unique director-driven filmmaker approaches for the DCEU?Multiple cuts of Suicide Squad were being developed simultaneously

Zack and [DC chief creative officer] Geoff Johns have outlined a timeline of where everybody is based off of, where our characters go in Justice League. So there's a framework. But it's filmmaker-driven, in that we want to hire direc*tors who still have a point of view and that have latitude because we don't want all the movies to feel the same. David Ayer has a certain tone and feel to what he brought to Suicide Squad, as does Patty [Jenkins] to Wonder Woman. They have freedom to tell their story in the way that it needs to be told.
ZACK Batman v. Superman was always a step*pingstone for Justice League, and it was a way to bring the worlds together without being too jarring. Once you say Batman and Superman exist in the same universe, you're also saying that Wonder Woman can exist in that world and Flash and Cyborg and Aquaman. Our philosophy, though, is it's filmmaker-driven. A lot of it comes from the idea of "do unto others." How would I feel if I was told, "Listen, this is your movie, but shoot it like we say"? It's not fun and cool, and I don't think you get the best work from everybody. To understand that, there is a bigger storyline, and let's all support that and not blow up the entire universe because you have an idea that you think is awesome but doesn't make sense with the bigger thing.
90's looking movie with a 90's gimmick.
But I thought they were supporting unique director-driven filmmaker approaches for the DCEU?
By the way, on the final color scheme for Suicide Squad marketing. They saw people liked Harley, so they just went all in on that.

It is almost like they don't have a plan...I dont know about it being a 90s looking movie, but the way WB is handling these films (trying to make multiple versions at once and releasing the ****** studio approved version) is straight out of the Tom Rothman playbook.

That is right everyone, even my beloved SPIDEY. I was right. I told you they didn't have a plan. I will now start accepting the apologies for all the, "He's crazy, he's a troll" post.
I never noticed that. That probably has more to do with the effects not being finished, but that is interesting.Color scheme is interesting. Look at the first official trailer, and the subway creature's really neony. Look at the TV Spots, and its got a darker, kinda ashy look to it.
@Marvolo: I think it was the green poster with the squad posed as the skull's mouth/nostrils that someone described as 90esque. And it seems like director's cuts were a thing in the 90's. In this case, I really do hope we get a DC. I'm checking my expectations for what I'll see in IMAX, but I'm hoping to come away with at least two movies from the DCEU that I've enjoyed.
