The drop hasn't happened. We don't know yet.

Stop declaring victory or defeat beforehand. It's way too soon to know if this movie has legs.

I'm not declaring anything. I was responding to a hypothetical scenario in which another poster brought up WB potentially saying, "Well, they liked it. No need to improve." My response to that being, if that were the case then WB shouldn't be too quick to make such comments as there is precedent for things to turn sour quickly.

Which makes all the budget talk and supposed $800million to breakeven all the more alarming. China could have brought in, at the vey minimum, between $70 to $100million.

Highly doubt that it's 800M, especially with THR reporting 175M was the budget. Reshoots and marketing probably equals 300M-350M so around 600M-650M to break even

By this logic, how come Marvel animation doesn't work as well as Marvel movies? They're different mediums; what works on one does not mean it will work on the other.

Because Marvels animation team is sub-par compared to the DC animation team and those in charge of the MCU. It has nothing to do with the characters and everything to do with the creative teams.

Yeah, something like that but we're talking surface figures, which everyone sees and uses to brag or ridicule that so and so movie made this and that much.

... and I was referring to the known fact that the studio gets to keep a much less percentage of the international gross, making discussions such as "this needs a $800 million total gross" pretty much pointless. The game isn't "total gross", it's revenue, and all those numbers are kept obscure for a reason.

Say what you will about the quality DC films but they know how to market the crap out of them 3 films into the DCEU and all 3 have had a 100 million+ Opening Weekend for example only 4 of the 13 MCU films have done that.

MOS - 116 Million Opening Weekend
BVS - 166 Million Opening Weekend
Suicide Squad - Projecting 144 -150 Million Opening Weekend

I'd say BVS was assured an over 100 million debut based on novelty alone

But MOS trailers made it seem like a worthy Nolan successor. I still watch trailer 3 time to time.

And SS Bohemian Raphsody trailer and Blitz trailer where both phenomenal. But the people who cut those two trailers should probably stick to trailers and not edit entire movies

And Iron Man came pretty damn close. If midnight gross was included in iron man's opening weekend it would be 102M.

What they fight is no different than Doomdsay. Obviously much worse, but still..

Thor 2's "villain" is awful as well, but the movie is still enjoyable enough to not be rotten.

The Dark World's villain is terrible but he's barely in the movie so it doesn't really matter.

Suicide Squad gives the villain a lot of cringe-worthy scenes.
