Something is going on in the reviewer business and I don't like it
They have opposing tastes compared to yours. That's all there is. No need to make something more out of it.

I honestly, truly believe that the people who hate this movie only hate it because the critics told them to. If the reviews were good and the film was exactly the same, people in this thread would be raving about how great it was. Critics have way too much influence on people who can't form their own opinions. It's sad. The critics, I feel, are hating it for a couple of reasons, 1) They're out of touch with comic books, and 2) They're trying to be edgy. The guy who writes the scathing review on the summer's biggest movie will get more views and clicks and reads; there's an attention-seeking aspect to being a hater. There's no "conspiracy" or "bias", it's just people who either have no clue what they're talking about, or they're being internet trolls.

Adorable. :o

Another example of them changing the Joker/Harley relationship. Originally, Joker and Harley didn't kiss after his save with the chopper. He's very stand-offish.

I'm not sure why it can't be that simple for people. Everything's got to be a conspiracy or have an ulterior motive.

You liked the movie. Great. Most critics didn't. That's fine. Takes nothing away from your enjoyment.

Well for shallow reasons I liked the kiss :funny:

This entire thread is one big Batman v Superman rerun, ain't it?

God, DC seriously needs to make a movie that resonates with critics so this nonsense finally stops. I feel like every time a movie comes out, the boards turn into InfoWars with all the absurd conspiracy theories. I wonder if some people here think the moon landing was faked too.

The whole forum is. Denial about the critics, denial about impending box office drops, claims the movie is loved just because their audience laughed and clapped etc.

BvS deja vu to the extreme. All we're missing is the accusations that the haters didn't 'get' the movie.

OR......they simply have a different opinion about it. I'm quite sure that some people only listen to critics and like or dislike a movie simply because some critic said they should....but saying or implying that everyone is totally swayed by the critics is way out of bounds. Try to except one simple universal truism......not everyone in the world shares the same opinion about everything.

To be fair, most people here are critical of what happened with this movie to some degree.

If these were original movies not using DC characters, I fully believe we wouldn't have people jumping through hoop after hoop to justify their critical reception. It's only because of the cultural juggernaut DC comics is that we have people seriously saying everyone is collaborating together to criticize these movies. Same thing with the Star Wars prequels.

Yeah the difference is that people can have fun with this movie. BvS was basically a flawed somber movie featuring Batman and Superman. Not much fun there a lot of flaws
A lot of fun with suicide squad combined with many story issues.

The third act of this movie, to me, is just as bad as the third act of Fant4stic. It's complete bewildering nonsense with nothing particularly exciting going on, topped off with truly horrific special effects work.

Whatever good will the rest of the movie had built up was effectively thrown out the window by the time the final confrontation gets underway. Just couldn't believe it.

Knowing that Joker was originally involved in the third act, I guess that explains why one of the tracks on the score is titled "I Thought I’d Killed You".

I was in more disbelief they set up the main villain and dove into the city streets (which ultimately would make up the rest of the film) after a 25 minute intro. I was half tempted to check under my seat to make sure the second act wasn't misplaced there. :o

Agreed. Basically the end game of this whole fiasco was a laser light show with slo-mo and bad hackneyed dialogue. I seriously can't believe DC fans are defending this tripe.

This movie had about 30 good minutes where things were kinda sorta interesting. After that, it became meh, and ended with ugh.

Surprisingly, there is no deleted scene that shows why Boomer came back to the Squad. He just fell back in line. lol

Right.

It actually surprised me how quickly into the movie Enchantress freed her brother and got started on her " machine." And then we're left with watching the squad wandering around a completely deserted city (except for a handful of monsters ) for the rest of the movie before launching into that abysmal third act. And save for Deadshot mowing all those monsters down, I didn't find ANY of the action in this movie particularly exciting. Boomerang, Croc, and Katana were pretty much completely pointless. Omit them and not much changes. There's just a whole lot of emptiness in this movie.

So much about this felt like a TV movie to me. Just a complete misfire. For the life of me, I have no idea where the budget went to.

Suicide Squad could have been 10x better if they had...

1. Shortened the running time.
2. Used 4 main characters in the Squad. Ditch Flag, Katana, Killer Croc. Katana and Killer Croc were useless characters and Flag's whole story was just boring and uninteresting.
3. Taken out the Joker/Harley subplot and used that time to build up other characters. This is my biggest complaint. The Joker should not have appeared in this film at all and I truly believe the only reason he was here is to sell tickets.
4. Focused on Deadshot and Waller more, maybe giving them a shared history that goes deeper. That is where you could have built up some interesting history. Waller is a much more fascinating character than what was portrayed here.
5. Written a stronger role for El Diablo. He was literally just there until needed, much like Killer Croc, but at least he had something interesting in his past.

I'm sorry, but Flag was not useless. He was one of the main characters and serves as the straight man to the Squad. Katana could have been removed, I agree. Even in the novelization (the original script, supposedly) she doesn't do much until the third act.

They should have doubled down on the Joker or not have used him at all.

This thing was missing a standout action set piece. Something that made you go "oh **** thats badass!" MoS had the Smallville fight, BvS had the warehouse sequence, this was missing something like those. It was just too much beating CGI putties.

They sort of subtly hinted at it, a little earlier. When Katana has him pinned against the wall, he catches a boomerang he threw moments before. Without pause, he says, "it's what I do". One of the rare moments of cleverness.

No, they should have put the orignal cut, with more scenes for everyone, not cut the Joker's scenes and not censor the Joker and Harley relationship.
Still liked the movie though.

don't forget the constant deconstruction of deep religious undertones as well as numerous nods to greek mythology!
