I'd take him out of the movie. Have Harley tell stories about her "puddin'" throughout the film, then as a post credits scene show him break her out of jail. Let the Joker reveal be the last thing people see.
There's my two cents.
That would have been perfect to be honest. Leave the audience starving for the Joker's next appearance with the end credit cameo. Sort of reminds me of the joker card at the end of Batman Begins. It got people hyped for the next film. They gave us to much Joker in this film with so little relevance. Now audiences have made up their mind whether they like him or not from these scenes. They won't care to see him again.
