The logic behind Task Force X is pretty nonsensical in this film.

"What if the next Superman (i.e. a godlike being) is a terrorist? Let's put together a group of people comprised of:

- a man who's very accurate with throwing boomerangs

Never underestimate the power of a boomerang....those things are spooky.

Some random thoughts of the film.

- Wasn't as bad as the reviews

- Will Smith did his thing. Enjoyed his character the most

- Harley was good and all but some of her lines were cringeworthy

- Also, when they characterized her as crazier than the Joker that made me roll my eyes.

- I saw some glimmer of hope with Leto's Joker, especially the Ace Chemical's scene but other than that I didn't like the way they made him. He seemed to be trying too hard to act "crazy"

- Since when does the Joker turn heaven and hell to rescue Harley? I'm no expert of their relationship but hasn't she been the one to go crawling back to him?

- I would have been perfectly fine with them leaving him out of this film except for the last scene he's in. That would have been a good holy **** moment.

- Please never cast Cara Delwhatever in a film. She's horrible.

- Waller was great and everyone else was forgettable.

- That last act was a mess

All these people... to take on "the next Superman." Not a great plan.

Honestly, El Mayimbe's rumors about Antiphon and Onslaught made so much more sense than these people taking on a six thousand-year-old witch. These people are not feasibly equipped to take on beings like this. Covert assignments against terrorist cells sounds more up their alley.

Exactly, they should be taking on the dirty assignments that the government don't want their fingerprints on should something go wrong. They shouldn't be around to take on someone like Superman.

Out of the cast, I enjoyed Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn. It makes me want more of her if they go ahead with her 'solo' rumored project and 'Birds of Prey'. Will Smith's Deadshot, I liked his backstory and how I felt more for his character, similar to Robbie's. I liked Flag who he was involved with June... Yeah...aside from Waller and Batfleck, that's about it. Now I did like June and while I liked some of the parts of Enchantress, the third act with her got a little silly...Oh and I really wanted to give Leto a chance as the Joker but given what little we saw of him, maybe next time...

So. Just got back. Love the movie. Pacing and editing are its biggest weaknesses. the Characterss were the best part. The villain was no worse than the average MCU offering.

If it were'nt for the god awful pacing, charactisation and the joker, this would have been worthy of a few of MCU's best. Instead of what should have been an 8 out of 10 (or even 9), I give it a 5 (glad I went to see it but could have found a lot of better ways to spend my time.)
On a high note; I see great progress here and see a glimmer of hope we may be seeing much better from DC offerings in the near future.
Ps: glad I'm seeing that a lot of people seem to be enjoying this. DC fans deserve it. Holding out great hope for Wonder Woman.

Agreed.

Me too.

Yes. They made a total balls up of the Joker/Harley dynamic there.

The "crazier than Joker" thing was a last minute addition as well. It doesn't bother me that much, though.

WB reacts to BoxOffice

Warner Bros. says it is more than happy with Suicide Squad's launch. And studio distribution executive Jeff Goldstein says the Friday-to-Saturday drop is due to the fact that the movie took in $20.5 million on Thursday night, which was folded into Friday's gross. "From my perspective, this was an awesome weekend," he says.

In terms of its CinemaScore, Suicide Squad earned an overall B+, beating the ho-hum B grade for Batman v. Superman. And Goldstein notes that moviegoers under the age of 35 gave Ayer's film an A-, a good sign.

Now where have I heard this before?

"There is no question this is an extraordinary achievement," said Warners domestic distribution chief Jeff Goldstein. "Clearly, audiences have embraced it and we are already seeing repeat business. It's just fun. Often, there's a disconnect between critics and audiences."

Oh yes, after the BvS opening weekend.

As if WB is ever going to admit to the DCUs box office failings. They even thought BvS did well at the BO, granted it was no flop, but the fact it didn't do over 1 billion is a total failure on their end, but no, they simply tell everyone how happy they are about it. Nonsense.

This, what studio is going to talk about the negatives while their movie is still running?

The logic behind Task Force X is pretty nonsensical in this film.

"What if the next Superman (i.e. a godlike being) is a terrorist? Let's put together a group of people comprised of:

- the most accurate sharpshooter in the world, but otherwise a normal man shooting normal bullets
- a crazy clown girl who's good with a baseball bat and a gun, but otherwise a normal woman
- a man who's very accurate with throwing boomerangs
- an alligator man with considerable (but not impossible) strength
- a woman who's very skilled with a sword
- an expert escape artist
- a man who can produce and manipulate fire

All these people... to take on "the next Superman." Not a great plan.

Yeah....it was kind of weird watching Harley take on a supernatural being with a bat. And Deadshots bullets were useless. Would have been better off taking on dangerous terrorists organizations with high tech weaponry. Helping to keep the film some what grounded. An evil superman wouldn't flinch against these guys.

None. Look at how long Fox tried to spin Fant4stic as a success and that was one of the biggest financial and critical flops ever made.

A witch. Superman is just as vulnerable to magic as anyone else is. Enchantress was part of the team, initially.

Got out of my showing a few hours ago and gotta say...I genuinely really, really enjoyed this movie. Had tons of fun with it, as did the fam. Most of the cast killed it, especially Margot Robbie and Will Smith. Batman scenes were sweet. The editing was weird and disjointed in some parts, but I actually dug the way they introed all the characters through flashbacks and gaiety, colorful descriptions and whatnot. It was different in a good way. Soundtrack was okay, didn't mind the music like some others did. I actually quite liked it, especially during the scene where they're all gearing up, I thought it fit perfectly there. The interactions between the Squad was awesome to see as well. Loved Harley Quinn, although Deadshot was my fave. That whole relationship he had with his daughter was cute and believable. El Diablo was the heart of the movie imo, I honestly felt for him and bought his tragic backstory. Killer Croc, while barely in this, was a joy in his little humorous moments. [blackout]"I'm beautiful"[/blackout]. Lol :lmao:. Jared Leto's Joker was.....meh. I still don't know if I outright hate his interpretation or just don't really care for it. I guess the latter. Things I didn't like aside from that was the terrible, lame ass villain and I felt the movie could've been paced better. It was either moving too fast or too slow the whole way through. Also, the third act was a bit of mess. Oh, and Amanda Waller = absolute badass.

All that said, this movie was fun, it was funny, it was weird, and it's characters and their interactions are the MVPs that manage to keep it afloat. For the most part.

I would definitely recommend to go see it for yourself.

SCORE: 7.25/10

Doesn't explain away the comparable worthlessness of the rest of the team.

Well Josh Trank talked bad about FF, and he dropped off into the abyss after that movie. Dude had a Star Wars movie spinoff at one point.

ayer is doing the right thing by calling this his cut. while we all know this wasn't his cut of the movie, no point in comiting carrier suicide, especially after trank.

Doesnt matter. Not every potential threat is going to be Superman level. But Waller had that possibility covered with Enchantress.

Who knows...WB probably told him to lie...

*sighs* I wanna watch it again but again, still torn about the whole ordeal.

Next year, when Hot Toys releases the 12 inch figure of Harley Quinn, I am so getting her. :)

Going all mopey isn't going to change anything either. There are people who happen to love BvS, what does that say about them if the studio itself goes all doom and gloom about the product they are selling.? It doesn't make any sense from a marketing standpoint. You stand with your product, thru good or thru ill.

They even started trying to sell the whole "F4 part 2 is definitely in the works!"........not sure who they were trying to fool with that garbage.

I do think Waller was exaggerating, or it was done to please women. Didn't see the need for it.

So why did they need the others if they had the Enchantress? She could have handled pretty much any situation on her own.

a contingency, for what eventually happens in the movie - her going rogue ?
