DC Extended Universe indeed. Just didn't realize they were referring to multiple cuts. :o

I'm split on this. On one hand I ultimately want the "better" movie out there, but at the same time WB can't keep getting away with butchering the theater cut and waiting for home media to sort things out.

Wait for it: coming to home release Fall 2017- Wonder Woman: The Wonderful Edition.

It was a no brainer really, I do think maybe they should have done it differently and called it a Joker cut or something.

Suicide Squad: Extended Cut features more action and more Squad with 13 more minutes of footage not previously seen in theaters. The Ultra HD Blu-ray, Blu-ray 3D Combo Pack and Blu-ray Combo Pack will include the extended version of the film on the Blu-ray disc. The extended version will also be available to own on Digital HD.

I think and hope this will be the last time we run into this issue due to the editing of SS being a knee jerk reaction to BVS before the film was complete and before they started shaking up their approach to these movies as well as the brain trust responsible for spearheading them.

Excited as I am, I hope this isn't the same version we got in theaters but with extra few minutes. I hope for much better editing and less songs in it, especially during the "chemical wedding" scene.

13 minutes is less than I was expecting, but I'll take it.

I hope this is David Ayer's cut of the movie, instead of the same movie featuring new scenes here and there.

Agreed. This is my thinking as well.

I doubt that we'll get restructured scenes. Much like BvS UE, it'll have scenes we didn't get to see in theaters that allows the movie to flow better.

I actually think restructuring is inevitable with the flashback set-up they've chosen. Judging from the teaser trailer, we're getting the Harleen/Joker scene where he *****slaps her. They're gonna have to fit it in logically.

Kind of a strange response. Extended cut doesn't mean better cut it means extended cut.

WB didn't go out and say let's release this short ****** version in theaters so we can release this longer obviously better version on DVD.

This will simply be a version that some people will like more, some people will like less, and some people will be indifferent on. I don't see why people are getting mad about it.

Fingers crossed we're getting this version right here :

And we don't even have to wait long for this. Digital HD is next month, Blu-ray in December.

I wouldn't get your hopes up, BUT... an extended cut can definitely alter the tone of a movie. I just don't think they're gonna go 180 on their original approach because it would make them seem weak.

13 minutes, eh? I wonder if there's some restructuring as well. They changed the order of some scenes in the first act for BvS.

I don't think it's going to be the "original" version, in the way that the BvS Ultimate Edition was. It seems this will be an extended version of the theatrical cut, with a few deleted scenes added back in.

I hope you're right plus it's always better to know what the director originally intended for us to see. I honestly think the deleted scenes will address some of it's balancing issues. I just want the proper Joker that was promised in the trailers. :)

Yeah, I got really excited when I first read about it, but then realized it might just be the same movie - same tone, same "trailer" editing - but slightly longer. Eh, we'll find out soon enough.

Unfortunately, that's what I'm thinking, as well. If they had said that this was 13 minutes longer, there would've been a good possibility that this was Ayer's original cut. But the text clearly says that there's going to be 13 minutes of new footage, which I don't think is enough for a proper restructuring of the plot (and to let the June Moon scenes in the cave, Rick Flagg/June Moon romance and the entire Harley/Joker backstory play out as it should).

Looking forward to the extended cut...admittedly I am hoping there's a bit of restructuring, at least for the sake of making it all fit together as Greens already explained.

All in all, though, I'm just glad the rest of those Joker scenes are actually going to see the light of day.

As I just mentioned, I think some restructuring is necessary for the new cut to work. If those 13 minutes include extensions of Joker scenes we already got, it would mess with the ****** snapshot purple filter bullcrap. It's going to be interesting.

At any rate, if the extra material we get is good the film will be marginally better than it was before.

Hashtag cautious optimism?

Yup. Let's hope not. The Ultimate Cut of Batman V Superman had some restructuring in the first half of the movie. This would've needed more changes (considering that the theatrical cut was basically put together by a trailer company), which I hope is the case with the Extended Cut. But which I, unfortunately, doubt.

I don't think they've dropped the 'flashy dossier' in favor of Ayer's more traditional cut, which opens which June Moon in the cave.
