I like Davis' current wig in How To Get Away With Murder, but I'm fine with this hairstyle because it stays true to the character and she's a great actress so I look forward to her performance nonetheless.

I would have it that Waller is the Anti-Condi Rice. She hasn't garnered any spotlight. Waller is the type that has been given the opportunity to serve in much higher profile positions but has turned them down. Doing the work is what fuels her. She could have had the path Condi had, but chose to keep her anonymity and grind it out in the inner bowels of the U.S. National Security community. That would be my take on her. As such, she doesn't put much time into her look beyond looking professional. Amanda Waller doesn't appear on Sunday morning talk shows... And that's just how she likes it.

I agree with this. But that kind of lifestyle shouldn't have too much of an impact with her hairstyle. Maybe not.

Like I said, Condi Rice had public, high profile appointments that kept her in the spotlight in D.C. and the national media. Man, or woman, there's always a preoccupation with looks in those jobs. You are giving press conferences regularly or public briefings or going on the Sunday talk shows to sell policy. I don't see Amanda having that need to care about being in chic, stylish duds or having her hair and make up just so. When doing a live action adaptation those sort of characteristics are given in the short hand of the visual look that's been decided on. Viola's simple hair style is a statement about Waller, however small.
