I'm going to have to track those down. Still in excitable disbelief.

Go into the Ben Affleck thread. I'm not even sure if we're allowed to post them, so I'm not even going to quote 'em.

Yep! Caught it :D

It's really happening! Wonder if he will be involved to the same capacity that he was in Assault on Arkham, loved it.

Wonder why he isn't wearing the gloves though? Will probably put them on during the shoot I assume.

Because it's being brought up:

No, it's not Willow Smith that's playing Lawton's daughter in the movie.

and lawton looks cool as hell in his civvies imho. maybe if he was wearing a stoopid little fedora, a sport coat and tee, people would love it more :P

I'm a little bit surprised because I figured the cost/benefit analysis would rule against paying the ridiculous sum of cash Affleck demands just to show up for a cameo. Either they decided it's worth it or Affleck is being generous, or he's getting some other perk out of the deal.

It's all in the same universe it's being made by WB. They can afford to pay him whatever he want's.

Right, but the kind of contract they wrote up either mentioned every appearance he will have, or they renegotiated an SS appearance later on. If it was the former, then it's no big deal; an SS appearance would be just one of many demands from WB. But if it was the latter, it would probably be considerably more expensive.

It just makes me curious about where Affleck stands in all this. How much has he been offered and how much is he willing to put into it? I'm assuming that he's not willing to dedicate a decade to it like Robert Downey Jr. has. I was surprised that he's getting a solo movie and I still wonder if it will actually be Batman Beyond, Batman Incorporated, or a distant prequel that requires only minimal screen time for Affleck.

Affleck is one of WB's "sweetheart" directors. Their collaboration here isn't all that surprising. No doubt WB will make it worth his while.

Besides, Batman is a character that Affleck genuinely loves.

Affleck knew what he was getting into when he signed on. WB loves him and they'll let him do whatever he wants. Plus, Affleck really loves the character.

As far as I know, Affleck's career was leaving a lot to be desired before getting this opportunity.. he damn well better see the worth in it, lol.

Edit: it's nice to know he is truly into the character, I really didn't know too much regarding his attitude about it.

someone said he starts filming/directing his next project in september... does anyone know when justice league is supposed to commence filming?

huh? he's become quite a respected filmmaker in the past decade, just the opposite of what you suggest. he's got oskah gold, ya jokah

He started to turn his career around 2006 so....Yeah, he became a lot more respected before getting the Batman gig.

Justice League will start shooting next summer or around that time.

Leaving a lot to be desired before this opportunity? His career was doing just fine in recent years with Argo and The Town so not sure what you're talking about.

There were rumors when he first signed on that he would make appearances in many movies as part of the deal. Methinks those rumors, while never officially confirmed were pretty close to dead on.

And Affleck has been one of the biggest names in Hollywood for a while. The Town and Argo alone put him in the limelight but Gone Girl really changed things. WB holds him in high regard and he has carte blanche.

Filmmaking is separate from acting, I'm speaking about his acting career.

Admittedly I don't know a whole lot about Affleck's body of work outside of acting and am only casually aware of his presence on screen, so I could be talking out my arse, but he hasn't been very impressive in my opinion.

Thusly why I was not a supporter of him cast as Batman, until very recently.

Ditto that response to everyone else wondering what the heck I'm going on about ;) Some of us just never cared for Ben Affleck :p
It's only the role of Batman that is making me take a closer look at him, seriously.

well, you said his career was leaving a lot to be desired before getting batman. don't blame us for telling you how wrong you are, your personal prejudices against the guy aside. again, his career has not been leaving anything to be desired. in fact, im guessing wb are his beyotch at the moment

His acting career has left a lot to be desired, for me, as a casual viewer and keeper-upper with his movie appearances.

I don't think I blamed anyone for anything? Merely explained where my opinion came from :funny:

I'm surely not alone in being more familiar with his failures, there was a lot of backlash with him being cast as the Bat. I appreciate what he's doing right now more than anything else I'm aware he has done.
