Complaining about an excess of product would make sense if you were forced to purchase it.

I didn't even notice at first who the Joker was torturing at the end.

The trailer just got officially way more creepy and disturbing. But, in a good way. It feels like a horror thriller.

I wasn't expecting to like the trailer that much, but I do! The tone and the direction remind me of Michael Mann and most of the scenes feel genuinely intense, not just for the sake of it.

It's not DC's fault that the only characters that the general public and casual fans are interested in when it comes to their roster are Superman and Batman.

They're just giving consumers what they ask for.

I'm one of the few people here who has always bought a lot of the more niche DC books growing up in addition to the more mainstream and still do. However when I go to the comic shop and see the pile of Batman issues on the shelf almost empty while stuff like Omega Men and Starfire (both which I love) are overstocked by comparison what do you expect them to do?

They always try to expose their other characters be it through media or comic books but most people just don't care.

This looks really, really bad. Like a Christopher Nolan version of a spoof movie.

    Also, green-haired Li'l Wayne sucks.

This is true but I'm thrilled that the DCU is branching out of Batman and Superman. It's about time other characters get exposure.

At what point did I say he was my favorite character?.......

Ever hear of "to much of a good thing".....

as for the Marvel thing......sensitive much?

Batman isn't the only character in DC's stable. We get it he's popular but they don't have to beat us over the head with the character. There are plenty of other characters within the DC Universe that can be mined for film success and they all don't have to ride on Batman's coat tails.

As for the trailer...it was meh. I've always liked the whole dirty dozens theme and having it applied to super villains is cool. As others have pointed out the weaknesses I've seen (yes, it's just a trailer) are Will Smith playing himself, Joker being....I don't know what he's supposed to be honestly. Harley looks like a scene stealer, but then Harley always is - which isn't really a weakness I guess.

But this movie has Killer Croc, Harley Quinn, Deadshot and Joker. Is Batman really out of place in this movie? Do you want Batman to just stay home when the Joker breaks out?

Point taken....but is that an indictment against the characters or the writers.

First they complain that Batman is retired for too long, now they complain there's too much Batman. And Marvel as an example... Since 2008 we had 5 movies about Iron Man. We had 3 movies about Captain America since 2011. Means almost one each year.

They always did though. That's my point.

Neither. It's against a lot of the "fans".

For example right before Flashpoint even happened Secret Six, Xombi, Jonah Hex, Zatanna and Booster Gold were some of the best written books on the market. With some of the most interesting characters in the medium. Yet their sales figures were pretty horrendous while the bat books soared.

A couple of years before that titles like Manhunter and Simon Dark were also kicking all kinds of ass from a quality standpoint with some really pathetic sales figures. Then with the New 52 you had some titles like Demon Knights, I Vampire, Resurrection Man, OMAC and Voodoo which were different and incredibly interesting but again not enough people bought them.

End of the day numbers don't lie in the business world and any business will cater to the market where the numbers are the highest.

A lot of the same people who complain about "Always Batman and Superman" are some of the same ones who passed by these books at their LCS and gave them the cold shoulder. Don't complain about a so called problem if you're not even trying to be part of the solution is what I say.

Oh ok but even then...Green Lantern, Jonah Hex, Watchmen etc.

As a matter of fact when you factor everything that DC Comics has published outside of Bats and Supes and been turned into movie adaptations they probably have the most variety and have done more than their competition on that front

    RED
    Stardust
    Constantine
    The Losers
    A History of Violence
    Road to Perdition
    V For Vendetta

None of those is anything like the other, but point taken.

Fans are to blame for the oversaturation of "popular characters". A lot of people go on about wanting something new etc... but in the end they will always stick to their comfort zone and follow like sheep, buying the "important" books with the "important" characters with the "important" storylines.

It's why great little comics bomb and the terrible event/crossover comics always sell well.

Anyway... awesome trailer. Love the atmosphere and the way it builds towards that awesome reveal at the end. Best trailer from Comic-Con by far for me.

Earlier in the trailer, you see Harleen bound to a table with the Joker standing over her. You can tell it's her because of the blond hair and glasses.

I think it's Enchantress. There is a quick shot in the trailer with her strapped down and him leaning over her rubbing her hair.

It's obviously how The Joker breaks Harleen through electro shock therapy and the birth of Harley Quinn.

Seems like the scene with Harley sitting down fetally is also related to this section.
