Supergirl,... Just Because [merged]

Does Kryptonite make her horny or something? That's what that pic says to me.

I joined just to post in this thread. My favorite iteration of the Maid of Might was Cir-El. While I know she'll never be well known especially in comparison to Kara Zor-El I still love the character all the same. Here are some pieces of her I've gotten over the years in my collection.

Thanks. I've collected them here and there. I just found it so fascinating that she debuted rather quietly and was erased so very quickly. And yet when the new iteration of Kara Zor-El showed up it was treated like the second coming of Jesus or somesuch and had Cir-El shoved aside despite people thinking the new version of Kara was similarly odd.

Plus I liked the idea of DC starting fresh with Supergirl in Cir-El. They tried the cousin angle and had that character run her course before she died. Then they tried making a character who looked like her but wasn't (Matrix) then the Earth Angel Human Linda Danvers. I liked that with Cir-El DC was trying to create a wholly new character who seemed interesting but who's story was fraught with odd editorial.

And of course I've thought of a few ways they could use her again even if not using the name Supergirl. Largely because I think a Kryptonian who can use red sun bursts (and is thus immune to red sun radiation) is an interesting idea.

And I think there's room for every Maid of Might iteration out there if DC would give it a try.

There isnt even room for Donna Troy or Wally West. DC most def. wouldnt make room for another Supergirl.

Now? Definitely. DC kinda ruined the idea of legacy at all with this whole start fresh reboot.

I like the fanboy imagination. Why not have sexual freedom? And using a comic book character who is a strong female is a great fantasy. I just wish the comics they stemmed from would be a little more tame.

Nice pics. I'm reminded of Ursa as played by Sarah Douglas in the Superman films.

Anyone been reading the New 52 Supergirl?? If so, did you read this week's book?

Not quite understanding how she got her powers back.....can someone explain??

Im guessing they hadnt fully ran out like she thought and her parents reminded her that they are still there and she..idk.

LOL!!

I understand!! Made no sense to me either!

And how did she get back to earth without the sunstone to open that worm hole???

I'm loving the book. I've not been to the comic shop this week coz I'm too busy moving house, I plan on buying it next Wednesday with next week's comics.

Welll...What does everyone think about the whole Powergirl was formerly Supergirl on E-2 that's going on now?

I thought it was kind of an odd thing to do. What was always fun about Powergirl was that she was basically Supergirl but from the start decided she wanted to do her own thing.

Not a lot of activity on this thread.......Is the book doing well??

Anyway........I know it's PC down play males for the sake of females in our society today....But I guess I'm just a little peeved that for some reason they felt they had to make Supergirl more powerful than SUPERMAN...you know....Superman, the character that every superhero in comics spawned from??? Not saying that
supes should be the strongest hero in comics. But to make him second fiddle to a charcater in his family that wasn't created until the 50's?? No.........

And what is her problem?? Kal has been nothing but nice to her......and yet because of some prejudice again how he was raised on earth, she just keeps being a.....jerk. And acted like he (Superman)was scared of her...... ...What is this??

Then this creepy dude named H'el shows up outta know where claiming to be Kryptonian and she believes him right off the bat??

This characterization of Kara is somewhat troubling.

They just make her powerful for a short time to make her look more exciting but then they always tone her down and go with "well Supes has been holding back so jokes on you!"

But at the beginning of this reboot I was really enjoying this book but now it just keeps losing its interest to me. Which is a shame since they had just started making SG good again pre52. It also doesnt help that this book always ends up getting off track because they have to make way for some Superman/Superfamily cross over storyline.

Yeah that sounds about right. It feels like the typical "trying too hard to make her look cool instead of just letting her be cool naturally" maneuver that usually doesn't last.

I have a strange feeling this might last this time.

But maybe being at the sea bottom for so long toned her down??

What is making you turn off?

actually, the Supergirl 52 book is the only title I've read consistently since the launch. The other Super-related 52 books I've either dropped entirely ( like Action Comics ) or picked up but haven't had the motivation to go read them.........lol

I'm interested to see where they take this whole H'El on Earth story.....

I dont know, after the banshee storyline I just started losing interest. And it doesnt help that I am not even remotely interested in this whole H'el storyline.
