Supergirl returns?

Supergirl seems to me like a concept that sho uld be introduced in the context of the Superman film franchise. Possibly in a third new Superman film. The exhile/Argo City storyline would be fantastic. Pretty much any villain would be all right for Supergirl. It's her ideals and experience/growth factor that make her an interesting character, not neccessarily her villains.

Which raises another question, Who could be the villain? Supergirl doesn't really have her own rogues gallery. What's a villain she could face that would allow her to shine as a hero different from Superman? :supes:

Bizzaro maybe?

people weren't so thrilled about supermans return, what makes them think people will give a damn about supergirl?

people werent thrilled because it was a continuation of the first pair of movies. This isnt a continuation of the original SG movie or the original movie.s

Hmm...

Bizarro would be cool, actually, though there is some credence to perhaps Parasite, albeit he's a hard swing story-wise. Even Maxima could be entertaining...

I'd rather have Superman incapacitated and in need of saving rather than conveniently off-world... that really weakens the movie if it's just a side-story to Superman's much cooler, all around more important life.

The Cadmus Project could make for a set of compelling villains, too.

Unlike Batman (for better or worse), Superman's rogues gallery has been largely ignored in the movies. A Supergirl movie would be a great chance to showcase some other baddies whose names aren't Lex or Zod.

I can see using Cadmus, and having The Parasite being one of their creations. There are a lot of Superman villains who would fit into a Cadmus storyline.

Anyone but Livewire.

i doubt they will find anyone as good as helen slater was,
she was awesome as Supergirl and had the perfect look for the role.

its a shame the script wasnt so good, but ah well, it had a kick ass score by jerry goldsmith, probably one of the most underrated scores ever,

I'm sure there is someone out there. I thought helen slater looked great in the part but the character she played wasn't the kara i loved. I hope they can get a smart kick ass character in the mould of buffy perhaps

no we dont a buffy type

we need the same innocent girl like Helen slater was.
she WAS supergirl

if they can find someone better, it will be a miracle.

not to mention, the flying scenes with slater were a million times better than in superman returns even.

very graceful flying scenes in supergirl

I'd rather DC get something fresh out there (i.e. not "Super___" or "Bat___") first

Helen Slater was Supergirl for that period of time, no denying that but I don't know that I'd want her ed after Buffy *gag*....I have no problems seeing either Eliza Cuthbert or Kayley Cuoco wearing Kara's "s" shield. Let the agnst begin! LOL

my god no we don't need supergirl asking 'whats a tree?':csad: :o I think the JLU version was great because she was savvy about the world around her. Supergirl isn't niave and innocent anymore and if they made her that way their target audience of teen girls would not be interested.

helen slater played kara as she was at the time, times have changed I mention buffy because its a show teen girls loved because there was a strong heroine thats what supergirl needs to be. I have to say though i would hate kaley cuoco in the part. All she has in common with supergirl is blonde hair. I'm warming to the idea of Hayden Patenaire(i know thats spelt wrong)

While Buffy was a strong e, she was lackluster in other areas. The Kristy Swansen-Buffy would have been better(almost). Cuoco has played a headstrong and strong e in Charmed and has a good look for Kara. Alyson Michalka, Hayden P. and Ashley Tisdale would fit the age for Kara better but only Hayden has played a role close to what Kara is, so she would work IMO. And Slater played the director's Kara, not the comic book Kara.

i'm not saying there can't be improvements but its a better place to start than kara from 50's/60's comics. They just aren't that relevant to a modern audience. They've tried to modernize her with mixed results in the comics and thats something they should learn from. I really didn't like kaley cuoco in charmed or that john ritter show but that may be because both characters were written to be unlikable most of the time.

That's what I was thinking as well...introduce her in a 3rd Superman movie. By that time, the Superman franchise will be full re-established and therefore spinoffs would be more successful. I believe the smart choice for WB would be to concentrate on Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Flash, & Green Lantern. Introduce Supergirl in S3, or even mention the possibility of her in S2.

I don't think anyone has said that they should use the original Kara , if they did I missed it. The current Kara seems to be one that can stick around a while without having to do any major monkeying with later on down the line, though we all know someone will. I think it's interesting that the current writing team has Zor-El hating Jor-El(and most Kryptonians) enough to want to genetically modify his own daughter! Do I think that will crossover into a Hollywood version? Doubtful, but not out of the question. Whoever takes on Kara's next big screen appearance will have to stay closer to the comic version than the last one did because of the fan base. The studios know that the comic fan reaction could have negative effects on the bottom line and they don't want that.

I don't like this.
We don't need WB to waste their time on Supergirl, when we still have The Flash, Green Lantern, Aquaman, Captain Marvel, Doctor Fate, as well as many Vertigo comics (Sandman, Doom Patrol, Y, 100 Bullets, etc.) to adapt.

all aimed at the young male audience, supergirl is a different audience demographic.

No you said that the last supergirl movie wasn't the comic kara which was pre-crisis at the time- i agree with all you're points. The new issue solves most of the issues resolving kara's backstory and the genetic enhancement with the sunstones sprouting out of her. Very good

I'm still waiting on Wonder Woman for that. But I hadn't thought of that.

Since when is WW aimed at girls? HAhaha... that's hilarious. And we surely wouldn't want TWO movies aimed at girls... that'd be... uniconic!
