Superhero Cinematic Civil War - Part 57

I just wish we got a proper Symbiote/Alien Suit/Secret Wars storyline for Spidey. That would’ve been fun.
The thing with these DC and Marvel characters is they originate from a shared universe. So much of what the ORIGINAL stories were by design is synergistic. It's why in hindsight there's even more shame in SONY and Marvel not working out a more expansive deal before SONY went hog wild with productions. There's no reason you couldn't have Peter in Infinity War pick up the symbiote, or at least bring it back to Earth at the end of Endgame. But... Alas.

Honestly, you think of everything. That would’ve been so cool.

But no, let’s give him another suit created by Tony Stark so he can continue being his Robin.

Venom should have been a horror/thriller. It would have fit the character as he was intended and would have made it uniquely different from the rest of the CBMs. Instead it was another run-of-the-mill CBM that felt straight out of the 00's.

The writing all around is awful with phoned in performances. The comedy bits were flat to me. Even the action was mostly unsatisfying.

I know some people can enjoy it in a "So bad it's good" kind of way thanks to Hardy hamming it up. I guess I can see some of it being amusing.

I maintain that Venom could still have a decent movie even without Spider-Man, but they missed the boat on it.

Hopefully Serkis made the next one interesting.

Pleas indulge me...

Finds a symbiote on board in a lab somewhere that Thanos' henchman was experimenting with:

Symbiote escapes or Peter releases it and it immediately sees him as a way to freedom:

Before Peter can process what has happened the ship crashes on Titan. In the middle of the fight with Thanos his aggression goes through the roof, and good thing too because you get the feeling he wouldn't survive the battle otherwise:

Things still play out as they do though. Peter gets dusted only to be revived and returned to Earth. Then during the battle we see him starting to enjoy how the sybiote is making him feel:

Thus setting the stage for his next solo outing which would have explored the symbiote storyline, had Hardy as Eddie as part of it and then in MCU Spidey 3 we get Hardy as the newly bonded Venom out to get Peter:

I never thought before today that Dave Chappelle would make a proper Spider-Man.

Oh $#%^, he's choking a guy in a Spider-Man jacket in one of these gifs.

Legendary Challenges WarnerMedia Over ‘Dune’ & Godzilla Vs. Kong’? – Deadline

Disney on December 10 will announce its upcoming slate. While the studio will solidify what Deadline revealed recently — that the Tom Hanks-starrer Pinocchio, Peter Pan and the Emma Stone-starrer Cruella will bypass movie theaters to become Disney+ releases— the studio will also announce new projects from Marvel, Lucasfilm and Pixar that will encompass TV as well as theatrical. It will be a gesture toward not abandoning the exhibitors.

I’m not naive enough to expect a Fantastic Four announcement, but I’m not pessimistic enough to not hope for something, even a tiny bit.

Yeah the previews made Venom look like trash but when I finally sat down and watched it, I enjoyed it. No excuse for Michelle Williams’ wig in that movie though. That was the worst acting by a hairpiece since Tim McGraw in The Blind Side.
I take it you didn't stick around for the end credits to see this beautiful abomination?

LOL. Stars are really angry about not getting their box office bonuses because of this. Also the article claims it's unlikely Disney will do the same, though we'll have to wait to see how that conference call goes.

Sources say WarnerMedia insiders have been hoping that Disney will follow its lead and shift its slate to streaming. But Disney, which had seven billion-dollar grossing movies last year, isn’t about to do that. Instead, it is moving some films to streaming as it did with Hamilton and Artemis Fowl — likely Cruella and more — but an agent notes that the way Disney has handled the shift stands in stark contrast to what Warners has done. “They didn’t do a unilateral thing,” he says, adding that studio executives made pre-emptive calls to talent and their reps that helped smooth the process.

It’s also worth noting that Disney+, which has dwarfed HBO Max in terms of subscribers, has gotten a lot of mileage out of one original hit, The Mandalorian, which is based on an iconic movie property. “There’s never been a full-fledged franchise blockbuster launched on a streaming service,” observes an executive at a Warners competitor. “It starts with theaters and it starts with opening weekend.” And so far, those blockbusters have been the ones that generated merchandise sales and theme-park attractions.

Unlike us regular folk, their persona is a huge part of their product/careers and their worth to the public and the studios. One wrong tweet could cost them a job or even get them blacklisted in the industry. Social media inevitably isn’t “social” for them, it’s part of their business.
Usually it is more like some football player saying something that burns all of his bridges and then he complains for the next five years about how no team will sign him.
Society could not judge people and treat people (including celebrities) in the right way, like that.

If Woody had used that wig, Michelle's would have been totally overshadowed and she'd have to give up any shot of defending her razzie next time out. This probably caused a lot of friction behind the scenes. :cwink:

Alright, this will be spoiler for Insomniac's Spider-Man and three dlc episodes under 'City That Never Sleeps' title.
So I have two more episodes to go of Daredevil, and I think it's a shame that this show was cancelled, but at least we've got something glorious.

Kingpin finally using the title, manipulating and controlling the FBI the way he did, killing the agent who was with Nadeem at the time Karen Page was taken into NYPD custody, and Nadeem knowing the face of the man who protected him... there is a lot of awesomeness to swallow. And the stuff with Benjamin "Dex" Poindexter (Bullseye) is extra greatness.

Spider-Man PS4 opens with a couple of missions that pushed Kingpin to prison, and there he still managed to control his operations and command his enforcers to do his dirty work, it even extends to two or three side missions, and some of Kingpin's agents try to assassinate you on the streets in free roam mode.

How Fisk was put to prison was in a sting led by a police captain with psychological trauma that had a personal stake against the Maggia and started killing criminals on the street, and she was abetted by a masked vigilante who was at one point wanted by the city's former mayor for a prison breakout and riot.

Expectations I have right now are that Wilson Fisk will probably be released in the second or third Peter Parker game given circumstances of previous events. My question is; can they do Kingpin's story as good as.. or possibly better than... Willie's story that was presented on Netflix?
lol in my review of Venom I said Williams' performance was as distractingly bad as her wig and "in a movie not distinguished for its special effects, Harrelson's wig is the worst of all".
Her wig seemed fine to me all three times I watched that movie.

LOL, maybe Nolan will direct a Marvel movie now just to troll WB.

Next level spoiler marking.

Like I said in the Spider-Man forum a few weeks ago. I would prefer he get the JK Simmons treatment. Same actor, new character. I think SM2 Ock being evil undermines his arc in the movie. Only thing I could see MAYBE working is if Otto in sacrificing himself in SM2 effectively went brain dead and now the arms are in control now completely without Otto's influence to keep them in check.
