My point is that taking Spidey out of New York clearly had zero impact. Audiences don’t care.

I bet online Superman’s digital box office will be studied and dissected as much as its daily movie box office by social media.

Curious to see the theater count over the next two weeks. It already lost over 600 screens last weekend due to the sheer amount of August movies and yet still managed a good hold including a Sunday per theater average higher than Naked Gun and Bad Guys 2. In fact, it hopped over Naked Gun yesterday.

Apparently digital VOD sales are good business for studios. It basically replaces the physical media market sales at this point. Didn’t one movie make like $100 M on VOD alone? Could’ve sworn I saw it somewhere

Releasing this on digital while the film is still making $1MIL per day in theaters is crazy behavior.

I am sure the studios have enough data by now to show that a digital release doesn't affect theatrical box office much.

It's probably much more lucrative getting films on digital sooner rather than later while they're still running on any steam they've had from their theatrical run.
Not only does it cost more to 'rent' or buy these digital films in most cases than it is to see them in the cinema (at least if you rent/buy as soon as they are released), but they likely also see a bigger percentage of that money because they don't have theatres & whoever else that takes a slice eating into those earnings just as much, similar story with the physical copies.

Wicked earned $70m just in it's first week of digital sales, I'm sure it's probably well past $100m in revenue earned by now even though I can't find any articles that say as much.

Definitely waiting on 4K. Although I did hear the physical media of Superman will not include some of the bonus features that digital has, which if true... That's a real slap in the face.
