The Dark Knight TDK Locations: Baltimore, Hong Kong, L.A. and London!

The cityscape shots of Gotham were largely CG. If I remember correctly there were shots of real blocks and buildings from different cities that were composited together along with completely CG elements.... Gotham will look the same. The other locations will probably used for the outsides of close-up buildings or alleys/docks things like that.

Exactly - they'll be using Baltimore for more exterior waterfront shots more than likely, as well as Hong Kong for bigger shots of The Narrows........

it seems too early for something like that. and i don't think nolan will ever want to expand batman's world to the rest of DC because realism would be out the window instantly.

Baltimore??? ... Shieet looks like batmans going to be goin up against Avon Barksdale and Marlo stanfield instead of falconi and maroni. LOL :woot:

Baltimore fits with the scouting they were doing earlier in places like Liverpool (they looked at the waterfront in particular.) They were very specific about it. Wonder what could be going on in the story to require it.

To be honest, the WTF one for me was L.A. - then again, Angel proved it could look pretty gothic-ish at night, so maybe I'm just being picky, but nothing really screams Gotham to me about that local.

Baltimore could be the location of harveys and gildas house

Hahaha, The Wire. :woot:

yeah i could see hong kong as the narrows. CGI? hey its nolan. if you can film it real than no CGI.

they have the narrows already built at the hanger. why would they go half way around the world for it?

Nice find but why do we hear this from Caine? Why not Nolan?

Living in Baltimore, there are a couple of places that came to mind when I saw this - mostly the factories and industrial buildings along the harbor - down from the Inner Harbor pics you see in this thread. They definitely give a vibe of "Nolan-ified" version of Axis Chemicals from B89.

Because you can only do some much with inside sets - I'm sure Nolan wants to expand that section of Gotham City by shooting it on location outside.

It also might require bigger area's for stunts and action sequences which couldn't be pulled off inside.

I know this might sound stupid, but couldn't shooting in L.A just be on another soundstage instead of actually using the city itself?

More than likely, that's what it means - using the Warner Bros. or Universal stages.....

::facepalm:: You're absolutely right. I need to start thinking before I type! :woot:

Baltimore+Hong Kong+LA+London+Chicago=The best location for shooting

Right and there are some really nice gothic buildings as well. I hope to make it up there. :yay:

Baltimore has some great waterfront locations - other than that, I'll have to dig deeper.......

Hola Milkman. What's up?

Baltimore is about an hour and a half from here. I go up there to watch baseball games every summer. I can tell you what's in Balt'mor. Aside from the gorgeous Inner Harbor, there is only one thing you need to know about Baltimore:

IT'S A GARBAGE PILE.

Seriously. It is the most disgusting city I've ever been in. It's dirty, there is an enormous homeless population, which tells you about the job situation... and it's heavily crime-ridden. The Block, AKA the Red Light district, is RIGHT IN FRONT OF CITY HALL. And the last time I was there, there was a homeless guy standing in the bushes in front of city hall.

I think that tells you everything you need to know about Baltimore. It's a great location for shooting the ugly side of urban life.

They gotta say when filming happens there -- I'm going in!

Baltimore, Hong Kong, L.A., London.

You know what this means?

Roadtrip.

BATBOAT, anyone?

I hope so, a boat makes sense in Nolan's world - especially with all the canals weaving within the city as well as The Narrows being an island.

That picture actually looks like Gotham - think of the way it looked when Bruce was looking out the plane window in BB........

Yeah, good call. Or out around Edgemere and the Key Bridge, there's some foundries and shipyards, if they're still going with the arms deal / smugglers storyline.

sounds good if you're right.
