The Dark Knight TDK Locations: Baltimore, Hong Kong, L.A. and London!

Hola Milkman. What's up?

Baltimore is about an hour and a half from here. I go up there to watch baseball games every summer. I can tell you what's in Balt'mor. Aside from the gorgeous Inner Harbor, there is only one thing you need to know about Baltimore:

IT'S A GARBAGE PILE.

Seriously. It is the most disgusting city I've ever been in. It's dirty, there is an enormous homeless population, which tells you about the job situation... and it's heavily crime-ridden. The Block, AKA the Red Light district, is RIGHT IN FRONT OF CITY HALL. And the last time I was there, there was a homeless guy standing in the bushes in front of city hall.

I think that tells you everything you need to know about Baltimore. It's a great location for shooting the ugly side of urban life.

They gotta say when filming happens there -- I'm going in!

Damn, I have a friend that lives in Baltimore and he likes it - he must be near the harbor......nice description though, sounds great for shooting Gotham City exterior shots.......

i hope they use the crappy areas of baltimore- i'd love to see batman in a rundown harbor area/dock and warehouse, with fog, the whole nine yards. i know we got the waterfront scene in begins but as for the setting itself- i'd rather it be all run down.

Looks like we´ll have a pretty interesting landscape for Gotham in the next movie.

If they're shooting in Baltimore its GOTTA be on the waterfront in the harbor.

Anyone else thinking we may see an adaptation of Laughing Fish? :D

Well London location is obvious cos Caine said that WB still have Gotham City sets but this was months ago.

You want a sense of it, put some "Homicide: Life on the Street" in your Netflix queue.

That would be sweet! That's one of my favourite stories.

Okay I know this is COMPLETELY off topic but this is probably the most active thread at the moment so I'm posting it here...

I just now realised(lol) that Bruce Wayne's line from the first teaser trailer we got for BB, "And there is something out there in the darkness. Something terrifying. Something that will not stop until it gets revenge.
Me." was not in the film. WTF?

There were no deleted scenes on the 2 disc special edition DVD. Yet they had to have shot him saying that for it to be in the teaser. Anyone know the skinny on this?

Woah! Aren't you bit late? I believe it was made for the teaser trailer and this was discussed long ago.

I think those lines were recorded just the trailer, but I'm not certain.

Yeah I'm sure it was just for the teaser. I'm sure it took Bale all of 30 seconds to record it.

Has anyone considered that Hong Kong might also be a place to shoot more flashback sequences for TDK (perhaps expanding on what Bruce did while he was in Asia before going to jail), and not just shoot exterior shots for Gotham? I think they might do that, but you never know.

Many praises to Michael Caine for giving us some new information about the production, limited it may be. He should've given us a teeny bit of information about the plot (not enough to be spoilerish but something to get the fans excited), but I suppose the WB and Nolan threatened him by pain of death if he did do such a thing. ;)

And at least we know the script is finalized and done -- I hope all this secrecy will pay off when the actual film is released next July.

I take what Caine says at times with a grain of salt; Pothead.

Exactly - they'll be using Baltimore for more exterior waterfront shots more than likely, as well as Hong Kong for bigger shots of The Narrows........

My thoughts exactly. Seems logical.
Hong Kong is a great location.

This is already shaping up to be a brilliant film - do they start filming in Feb.? I've also heard that the script is done...

Baltimore huh? I live just outside the city, it's definitely one of the grittiest places you could film. It has a lot of areas that would lend itself well to a Batman movie as far as architecture is concerned. Parts of the city can have a very old feel.

PS. Hopefully Nolan doesn't get himself or any of his crew shot.

Slightly OT but:

After Caine reminisces about the original Sleuth, made back in 1972, which he also co-starred in with Laurence Olivier, Caine revels a bit about The Dark Knight. The secrecy involved with the script to keep our of El Mayimbe's brown paws and shooting locations. Read the highlight below and click on the link above for the whole story.

So...they never had a damn script then.

good catch. I guess they never did. So either they were completely lying, or it might be possible that they have an agreement with WB that they will be allowed to read and review the script at a certain point in time.

It's possible. In fact, I'd rather hope that IS the case because if they just lied, well, that's a crappy thing to do IMO.

YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!! BALTIMORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! FINALLY!!! SOMETHING EXCITING!!!! I wonder if they'll be filming at the Inner Harbor or in the other parts of the city? THIS IS AWESOME!!! I'll be there!!

Right and there are some really nice gothic buildings as well. I hope to make it up there. :yay:

Yeah, Baltimore is pretty Gotham like, Right up to the part where you don't want to walk through an alley at night!
