The Dark Knight TDK UK Thread

I think it's probably because DVD piracy is so high, they have to get the real thing on the market much quicker to make a profit. I remember when the first X Files film was released, it was in cinema july and August but it didn't come out on DVD until March the following year. These days films in the cinemas in July are released in October or November. Mind you less waiting is a good thing for us fans.

Hey guys :) I'm hoping this is the right thread to ask this in; to those of you who've been to a recent Imax showing in the UK, I'm interested to know, how have you found the audiences there? Do people react to the screen (laugh in the right places, clap at the end of the film), dress up/wear TDK shirts, etc?
I'm really excited about seeing it in Imax :yay:

On-topic...I didn't particulary like the first story in Gotham Knight either. Actually, I didn't really like a lot of them, but that one in particular irked me as I found the art terrible and the story not very interesting. I enjoyed 'Field Test' and 'DeadShot' though

I went to an imax screening a week ago, people seemed to clap and you would here like gasping and like wow in parts

Hey never been a dc comic fan, but is the dark knight comic saga smilar to the film or not?

Only read marvel really so wouldn't know.

When I went to the preview screening on 24th of July, alot of people gave a round of applause when the end credits came up. It wasn't on IMAX though.

yea the art is pretty shoddy in that one, i liked the artwork in the killer croc one.

yeah I liked the killer croc/scarecrow one as well. I thought it was kinda funny as that one (I think its called "In Darkness Dwells") was written by David S. Goyer who co-wrote Begins and they both end the exact same way, with Batman opening up his cape and gliding into the camera. I really liked that story though.

Thanks for the input everyone; Imax was amazing ...I'll have to work to convince someone else to go with me again :oldrazz: (I went to London's, loved the decoration around the place )

Haha, I noticed that too in "In Darkness Dwells"... I felt that was one of the better ones :yay:

What is the soundtrack of Gotham Knight like?

if you've been to the cinema lately has anyone seen that really f'n annoying radio 1 advert that lasts about 5 minutes? It is possibly the thing that makes me want to gauge me own eyes out.

Sadly yes. It goes on forever doesn't it? At one point I thought it was the movie I'd paid to watch and walked out of the cinema when it finished:woot:

and there's that guy I think he's called Westwood and he's in his 50s but he acts as though he's 20 or something and he thinks he's black. He's really annoying.

Yeah, its pretty faithful to the material. Not in the way that direct scenes or dialogue are lifted from the comics like alot of Batman Begins, its mostly original, but there are moments that come from the material. Stuff like Joker having multiple origins comes from Alan Moore's Killing Joke, and the pact that Batman, Gordon and Dent make to bring down crime that ends in tragedy comes from The Long Halloween by Jeph Loeb. And the relationship between Batman and Joker is very faithful.

Oh my god! I hate Zane Lowe! He's so shallow "Whats popular right now? Because I like that." "WESTWOOOD!" Prick.

And i don't even think Conroy was at his best
He was a little off, I agree. The first time I saw BGK I was like "It was okay", and now I'm like "It kind of sucks".

Tonight on uk tv on ITV1 at 8pm are the National Movie Awards 2008. The Dark Knight is up for best superhero movie and Bale is nominated for best male performance. Really surprised not to see Ledger's name there. At least if TDK wins best superhero movie hopefully Bale will be there to collect and give one of his legendary speeches.

Bale will be in attendance there, hopefully Hellboy II or Iron Man will win best superhero movie :cwink: j/k

...though it would be kinda cool if something did win other than the obvious

TDK won best super-hero movie, and johnny depp won best actor. i just read it on teletext.

:wow: :whatever: We never do anything right:cmad:

I would be a bit surprised if Bale wins 'best male performance' with the amount of stick people give him for his portrayal and in particular his batman voice (which is great in my opinion) and the fact that he wasn't the main man in the Dark Knight as the majority of us would agree. Here's a list of who he's up against. Does stand of pretty good chance though:

Best Male Performance
Christian Bale: The Dark Knight
Ben Barnes: The Chronicles Of Narnia: Prince Caspian
Pierce Brosnan: Mamma Mia!
Patrick Dempsey: Enchanted
Johnny Depp: Sweeney Todd: The Demon Of Fleet Street
Robert Downey Jr : Iron Man
Rupert Everett: St Trinian’s
Colin Firth: St Trinian’s / Mamma Mia!
Harrison Ford: Indiana Jones And The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull
Brendan Fraser: The Mummy: Tomb Of The Dragon Emperor
James McAvoy: Wanted
Mike Myers: The Love Guru
Edward Norton: The Incredible Hulk
Will Smith: I Am Legend / Hancock

Double Post, Sorry.
