I'm digging the new Joker approach like many of you but I have been wondering if this new "punk rock junkie" Joker will be too scary for children. He looks creepy and should act like the Joker we all know and love.As much as we all loved BB, lets face it, Batman is marketable to kids and all ages but has society matured to the point where we won't have parents complaining ala Batman Returns? I myself would like to see Nolan take it to the extreme , we'd ALL love to see another straight mature Batman movie but WB has made bad decisions before and I hope this new Joker doesn't shed a bad light on TDK in the sensitive publics eyes. In a way, Nolan and mainly us, are having a total fanboy wet dream knowing that TDK seems to be taking itself dead serious, but how long before WB starts wanting to lighten it up for the kids?

Hopefully he will be ,
I want to hear little kids scream when they see the joker.

I don´t want to hear little kids crying to their parents cause they´re scared, hate it when you hear little kids talking to their parents during a movie

Hearing these two lil redheaded bastards ruined half of SM3, so i hope the kids just stay away.

Oh I hope so. I want the little brats to run screaming out of the cinema! :joker:

I just hope this doesn't turn into a horror movie. BB struck a nice chord with adults and kids, I hope TDK can do the same.

He'd better be. His face only should cause miscarriages.

Yeah me too, that would be pretty awesome though, if this Joker made kids cry, lol.

I think TDK is clearly aimed at an older audience, but I don't think this is going to be anything too awful. People expecting Hannibal Lecter with make-up will be disappointed.

Let's hope he is. He's obviously not the "Clown Prince of Crime" this time around.

I read an interview with Cillian Murphy, where he said that there have been times when children have seen him coming, and ran across the street screaming "SCARECROW!" in terror. :oldrazz:

I've been waiting for Joker to be done right on screen that scares the kiddies for a long time. From what I've seen I love where Nolan is taking him. I hope that rumour is true, where after the semi gets knocked over, Joker starts shooting up people as he's leaving the scene. I think we have finally got a truly evil psycho Joker like the comics.

I grew up with the Burton movies... sure the Joker and Penguin gave me knightmares, but a decent movie with villains should do that. If he doesn't have any impact it'll be disappointing. I sure as hell don't want TDK to be aimed at children, but I understand they can't make it too mature.

yeah, but look at Batman Returns, I thought that was marketed towardss an older audience, that movie is very creepy, dark, gruesome and for the most part alot of kids liked that too.

Cillian already looks like a creepy bastard though IMO.

Man oh man, I just got the image of that in my head. A part of me wants to say "no think of the children!" and another part wants to say "**** yeah, kill these ****ers Mr. J":hyper:

if kids will be scared then you can forget about big BO and you can forget the big budget for the second sequel.

Nolan in the past said his Batman movie/s would be geared towards adults and not the kiddies.

SO I think the Joker will be too scary for the kids. ;)

You had to be 15 to watch it in the UK... I was 7 when I saw it (and 5 when I saw B89). I loved them because they were 'grown up movies' and scary for my age.

:wow: , when did you read that??? link please!

Sorry, I've been gone for a little while and I havent been able to keep up with news.

I'm sick of the whole argument that Batman is for all ages. Yeah, maybe he was decades ago. The last few decades the comics have been borderline rated R with violence and whatnot. I don't want a full on rated R Batman, but I do want them to push the PG-13 just alittle. Besides if parents want their kids to be able to watch Batman they have the Adam West show/movie as well as BTAS and other animated shows after that. Does anyone honestly think the young ones enjoyed seeing all his backstory in Begins. I bet most were bored out of thier minds.

The film'll just be watched by a different audience initially. Firstly, the people who loved Begins will watch (and it got a larger fanbase via DVD), people who love scary movies will watch and then people who love the Joker will watch.

The average person didn't know who Ra's or the Scarecrow was, and feared Begins could have been like B&R, but TDK won't have this problem.
