Let me start by saying that I believe this movie is going to rock hard core, just because Chris Nolan is back and I love his work. But, with that said, I can't help but worry that it is turning into more of a joker movie with Batman in it, rather than a Batman movie with the joker in it. Every piece of the viral marketing scheme has been about the joker thus far....nothing about Batman. The only thing so far, as far as I know, that we have been given regarding Batman is that one picture in the new suit. I guess you could throw in the "bat-pod" too, but that's it. I just don't want this to turn into one of those comic book movies where the villian overcasts the Hero...Afterall it is titled The Dark Knight!

I'm curious if anyone else is getting this same feeling...your thoughts?

They want to get the Joker hype started early. We've already been introduced to Batman, now they want to show off Joker, at least for the rest of this year.

Batman's time to shine will come, probably after whatever happens in December.

I think this is just the ads. The movie itself will have Batman as the star.

Just my opinion though.

joker is the new character to this franchise, so they are trying to expose it, and market it....i mean people already know who christian bale is ..and that he does a fine job at playing bats...

I think it is just a marketing thing.

You're b*****ing about nothing. Go to bed. Please.

I think for purely the hype and marketing reasons they are pushing Joker, but it IS the Nolan brothers behind the film itself, and they know that was what was wrong in the first series of movies--so I'm not at all worried for the movie itself.

Even with the lines in the teaser trailer, they're setting up a good plot, not just show-casing a new villian.

with every hyped movie, there is always something that has more interest than the movie itself. for spiderman 3 it was venom, for transformers it was optimus, for hulk it was...well the hulk, and for the dark knight its the joker. plus joker is one of the most recognizable villains in the batman series. bringing him into the new age imediately catches the eye of the fanboys, much like venom with spiderman. that hype started before he was even announced, similar to this. i do however agree, that people are focused more on joker than batman, but we know who batman is,we know what he looks like, and what he does, we've never seen joker before so people automatically pay attention to something new:joker:

the joker is just as big a draw as batman; except he has been seen far less as he didnt in a major blockbuster film 3 years ago ;)

I agree with whats been said already. We know who Batman is etc and what his character is like. Box office success will lie with the Joker and how good the buzz is about the character going into opening night. Which is why Begins had a slow start at the box office as well as some other issues like Batman and Robin. You never really knew who the bad guys where going into movie. It only makes sense to market the hell out of the joker.

Movie Title: The Dark Knight. Hero: Batman. Who's kicking ass: The Batman again. This whole movie is Batman. He is already known by the public. It's The Joker that is needing the new introduction. Thus why he's getting the attention right now. By next year things will even themselves out and Bale will be getting his fair share of the limelight. It will all come back to Batman. Until then, let Joker have his fun.

I'm excited to see the Joker because from the beginning they said this will be different. I am HOOKED on anything joker-esque mainly because of how much darker and sadistic the character seams, makes Charlie Manson look like Mother Theresa.

hahaha great analogy

This is something Joker would do. He's an urban terrorist, and he causes the general public(us) "havoc." Havoc implies that we don't enjoy this, but we very much do.

And I hate to say it, but regular people are much more excited to see Joker again on the big screen than they are Batman. Not by much, but they are.

Which may be one of the reasons(albeit a small one) they gave Batman a cool new, more flexible, suit. To give HIM a little more of that spotlight.

I think that WB and Nolan think that Begins really hit home (which it did), hence they named this one Dark Knight (it would be dangerous marketing to name the 1st Batman film Dark Knight, sine Batman hadn't been yet established). People know him now, so it is not a bad thing to market the other big attraction of the movie: The Joker. Since it's his first silver screen outing in many years, it's not a bad thing for him to be in the spotilight. And it's not asinine, since Bats has been solidly established.

They can market the Joker much better than Batman for this film so I guess that's their approach to this film.

Dude, the viral marketing is supposed to be about the Joker. There's not going to be any viral marketing about Batman.

There has been absolutely nothing to indicate that the movie will be more about the Joker than about Batman.

I remember an interview with Chris or Jonathan Nolan saying that it's called The Dark Knight for a reason.

We shouldn't worry, the movie's still going to be about Batman. :batty:

i think TDK will be a lot more about batman then joker.

i think it has something to do with hes new suit and the bat-pod.
imaybe some scared badguy will say that he saw the dark knight :woot:
cheesy? maybe but in the context it can work.

Well we've been asking for this a long time .....I finally doubt they'll get this to us !!!!:cwink: :cwink: I think that a shot of the Joker smiling/laughing will be kept locked until december or maybe even the first TV spots !
