The Dark Knight TDK's Joker..too scary for kids?

i dont get why people always have problems with kids in the theater. am i so dumb that i go always in the theater at that hour where there are no kids younger then 20?

That's not because it was too mature for them, it's because it was too boring for them. Since there's no one hour origin and (hopefully) no Goyer speeches, I'm guessing kids will like it more.

You really really are a misguided tool. Kids have as much right to enjoy Batman as adults do. Batman '89 was a family friendly film, yet that got the character down pat. Hell Begins is family friendly, there's one liners, a giant fu cking tank and a guy who dresses up like a bat! Seriously get over yourself. Warner's want kids to watch their summer tent pole film, Nolan wants his movie to make money, kids = money!

I don't have anything against kids being in theaters, I just want a DARK JOKER!!! I want him to be as he is.....not lightened up any just to keep the rating down. So stop being such a panty waste, we want DARK JOKER!!!!!

The Joker is actually very colorful :wow:

blood is colorful- so this Joker should just kill alot to make it a colorful film... haha

there may be some kids who would find Nolan's Joker unbearable, he should be.

they'd be thankful Nolan didnt hold back when they grow up.

how about batman is looking for the joker

*Holds gang leader by the throat against the wall*

Batman: where is he (almost like a Clint Eastwoof type of voice)...

Leader: I...I, Dunno, I swear...I just...

Thug: we don't know

*SMASH* - not even looking at the thug...(still holding the leader with his right hand, by the throat)...(slams other guy into the wall, without even looking at him, still focused on the leader)

Batman: I wasn't talking to you (still kind of a Clint Eastwood snarl/whisper)

heyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy:csad:

...that was my post....

:oldrazz: but I guess it's fine if you use it

*sharpens knife*

:joker:hehe just joking

I would. Batman is for kids. :wow:

not always the case there friend. there are definitly comics, and Batman graphic novels that cater to adults(Arkham Asylum, Batman: Night Cries etc.) and versions that are more family oriented and meant to appeal to kids. I hope Nolans Joker is frightning as hell. the tone of the movie is clear from the get go-it's a serious take on the character that throws most of the kiddie appeal aside and brings dignity to the character.

Tho theres enough in there to appeal to your teenage fantasies. but at the same time it doesn't insult your intelligence as a adult. which Batman 89 did:) I wanna see scary joker cause the smaller kids to bury there faces deep in mammas breastusis and scream for seven minutes straight. when I get up from the movie I want to be walking in puddles of piss and look around only to see adults-real men and women. the kids having made mom take them to "Muhcdonnews" instead. so they can see a clown they can better understand.

The new Joker would scare the **** outta a little kid. That's why these movies are meant for an older audience.

If you think about it Batman doesn’t really NEED the toddler fan base for the numbers. Out of 300mill (domestic) that BB made, I'm guessing about 10% were kids, that’s neither much nor enough to compete with some of the biggest superhero blockbusters.
I'm pretty sure parents figured that the last one looked mature enough from the trailers, so there wasn’t that many youths under14 seeing this movie (just a hunch I have).
I don’t think Nolan is about to make this movie more suitable for kids because of the simple fact that the last movie didn’t make tremendous numbers. I'm sure every studio has it in mind that they want to make as much money as possible, but realistically if they wanted TDK to murder the box-office they would have spent more on it. Superman was there movie that they wanted to compete with spidey, thus they dropped a huge budget on it, and it failed.
If TDK isn’t going for the number one spot, I'm sure Nolan is not going to dim down any characters to bring in children, to bring in more money.
Obviously it would be the smart thing to do; financially however with the amount of money they are making on this movie the difference won’t be so catastrophic.
Therefore keep the Joker as mature and violent as possible without breaking the PG-13 barrier, best example of this is the movie Minority Report.

In addition, I don't think parents should bring kids to TDK just cause it's a Batman movie, and then get mad when it's dark and creepy. Ratings are there for a reason. I mean, like I said before, people should know by now that these films are more for adults, and after seeing the new teaser trailor, I mean, seriously, that was kind of a dark teaser.....it's not one that I'd see and say, "Gee, that looks like a good G-rated movie to take the whole family to." If I were a parent, I probably wouldn't take any kid under 12 or 13 to see TDK quite honestly.

Exactly. If you want your kids to watch a kid friendly Batman film that is meant for under 10 year olds....then I suggest you go rent a copy Batman Forever or Batman and Robin. Also go rent some of the animated features as well. Those are meant for under 10 year olds.

TDK will be darker then BB....expect it.

To be honest, in the last few decades there really hasn't been many if any at all bright and little kid friendly Batman comics/TPBs. Since the 70's he's matured and isn't for the young ones anymore. I said it in a post some pages back, the kiddies have their animated shows and the original with Adam West. Like someone else mentioned, when they grow up, they'll be thankful. Unless they grow up to be a pantywaist.

I've been waiting for Joker to be done right on screen that scares the kiddies for a long time. From what I've seen I love where Nolan is taking him. I hope that rumour is true, where
after the semi gets knocked over, Joker starts shooting up people as he's leaving the scene
. I think we have finally got a truly evil psycho Joker like the comics.

Fixed it.

i think it would be great if the joker scares kids. I mean plenty of adults have fond memories of characters that scared the life out of them as kids. You always remember those villians more when they have a lasting effect on you.

In most fairy tales, the villains are really scary, witches, ogres, wolves etc... It is supposed to actually be good and cathartic for kids. I say let the Joker be the biggest and baddest bogeyman of them all !

Since this movie will be pg-13 . I don't think he will be that scary . The Scarecrow was not Scary when he used his fear gas

...................**** the kids!:csad:

Nolans new Batman trilogy is not meant for kids so I wouldnt really care how scary the Joker looks...

Absolutely, let kids scream, it will really only lead to them wanting more.
