Telltale-Guardians-Galaxy-Ep-One-Dated.jpg

The first episode of Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series, “Episode One: Tangled Up in Blue,” will launch for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, Mac, iOS, and Android on April 18 for $4.99, Telltale Games announced.

The series will also be available as a “Season Pass Disc” for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on May 2 for $29.99. The disc will grant access to download the subsequent fur episodes via online updates as they are released in the coming months of 2017. Additional platforms for release are yet to be announced.

Here’s an overview of the game, via Telltale:
Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series is a brand new story of the universe’s unlikeliest heroes: Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax, Rocket, and Groot. In the wake of an epic battle, the Guardians discover an artifact of unspeakable power. Each of them has a reason to desire this relic, as does a ruthless enemy who is the last of her kind, and who will stop at nothing to tear it from their hands.
From Earth to the Milano to Knowhere and beyond, and set to the beat of awesome music, you wear the rocket-powered boots of Star-Lord in an original Guardians adventure, where your decisions and actions drive the story you experience.

The series will feature a star-studded cast of voice talent, including Scott Porter (Friday Night Lights, The Walking Dead: The Telltale Series) as Star-Lord, Emily O’Brien (The Young and the Restless, Middle -earth: Shadow of Mordor) as Gamora, Nolan North (the Uncharted series, Pretty Little Liars) as Rocket, Brandon Paul Eells (Watch Dogs) as Drax, and Adam Harrington (The Wolf Among Us, League of Legends) as Groot.

Remember there another Guardians of the Galaxy that's more action based may be that'll be more to your liking

Remember there another Guardians of the Galaxy that's more action based may be that'll be more to your liking

I love Telltale's games. From Wolf Among Us and Tales From The Borderlands, to The Walking Dead.

I just think this looks very underwhelming. It looks more like them trying to copy the style and succes of the movie, than trying to make their own version.

Whether it's too similar to the movie or it's own thing doesn't really bother me and it could be good or bad either way.

When is the more action based game out? Telltale games just don't sound appealing to me.

marvel like the design form the movies and will push look to atrrct fanse tha know only the movies . then how ever thatb where it ends, those won't be the only costumes available to players and they made it very clear and i posted this alot already this will have it's own story to it's self. othewise the makers wouldn't be pushing that to the gamer out lets.

lol I don't think I'd waste my time ether. Just wait for reviews if you so unsure. but I have a feeling this will be true & that it has it's own story happening here.

So don't let the initial looks fool you. it's most likely to get people that see the movies interested. other wise I'd agree with you marvel is overly obsessed with pushing the movies too much, and other's on the hype have seen me say they shouldn't be doing that so heavy handedly and so often.

The new Telltale series follows Star-Lord, Gamora, Groot, Rocket, and Drax as they do their best to "be a hero" in the quest to save the galaxy. The game is already being recommended by various Steam Curators as well. One of them, Cancercaurus said the following:
"True to the Telltale formula, you have 4 choices to select from during conversations. 1. I am Groot. 2. I AM GROOT! 3. I am Groot? and finally, the patrician choice: 4. [Groot him]."
It sounds like Telltale's Guardians of the Galaxy is going to be a good time. Episode 1: Tangled Up in Blue releases tomorrow, April 18th, 2017 for PC, Xbox One, and PS4.

A CORRECTION AND TIMESTAMPS BELOW

On a breezy episode of Frame Trap, Kyle, Damiani, Huber, and Ben pick apart Outlast 2, Telltale games, Wonder Boy: The Dragon's Trap, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Prey, Dawn of War III, Dragon Quest Heroes II, and more. There's also a considerate discussion about the merit of giving games second chances. It may be our best smelling episode yet.

CORRECTION - We incorrectly state that Mario Kart 8 Deluxe does not have ad hoc multiplayer when it does.

TIMESTAMPS

07:59 - What has Huber been playing? (Outlast 2, The Walking Dead Season 3, Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3, Stories: The Path of Destinies, Bulletstorm: Full Clip Edition)
48:00 - A discussion about the Telltale Guardians of the Galaxy game.
01:27:06 - What has Kyle been playing? (Wonder Boy: The Dragon's Trap)
01:43:00 - What has Damiani been playing? (Final Fantasy X HD Remaster, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe)
02:24:10 - What has Ben been playing? (Dawn of War III, Prey (minor spoiler warning), Dragon Quest Heroes II)
03:07:16 - HOTTAKE: How willing are we to give games second chances?

Exploring TellTale’s Guardians of the Galaxy ‘crowd play’: A dual group dynamic

May 5, 2017 One comment

I have sort of an odd relationship with “story” in gaming. JRPGs really got me into gaming and inspired me to focus on my writing voice(s).

Though the quality of narration in MMOs are just bad, some of my early experiences with the genre (particularly Asheron’s Call‘s GM driven story arcs that gave players a way to interact with lore as a group) opened up the possibility of group narratives, especially for those who roleplayed.

In fact, as odd as it may sound, I think RP PvP in general showed me just how strong of a feature it can be for someone like me, from virtual Darkfall pirates trying to steal my boat to Star Wars: The Old Republic Jedi fighting for alignment while my bounty hunter simply struggles to make the most money while making the fewest enemies.

Still, sometimes we don’t want to go grind through 20 mobs to get to the next part of the story, or suffer through a raid dance to choose the fate of a character we’ve been interacting with solo. It’s one of the reasons I figure MJ and Larry’s Choose My Alignment is so popular: You still get that story vote without having to be a member of the actual group. It’s odd, being an older MMO player who still sometimes struggles with accepting solo play in MMOs, but the story aspect is the part I get. It’s actually the main thing that kept me in SWTOR.

But there are other options for this kind of play, primarily through TellTale Games and its Crowd Play feature and new game, Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series. Don’t worry story fans, as I’ll keep this article spoiler free!Read more

In a blog post, Telltale has revealed that the second episode of their Guardians of the Galaxy series is just around the corner following the success of Episode 1, Tangled Up in Blue. Episode 2, titled Under Pressure will release on Tuesday, June 6th on all platforms.
Here's the official description for Episode 2 provided by Telltale:
In "Under Pressure," the Guardians just can't seem to outrun the past (or their tab), but if they figure out how to control the untold power of their mysterious new relic, they might not have to. With help from dubious old friends and unwilling new allies, Star-Lord and company scour the galaxy for answers. But how long can they elude the genocidal maniac hunting them? And will simmering tensions finally tear the team apart?

And get ready to delve into a certain Rocket Raccoon's past...
Telltale's Guardians of the Galaxy is available on PC, PS4, Xbox One, iOS, and Android and episodes can be purchased all together as a Season Pass for $24.99 or individually for $5.

Anyone play chapter 3 yet? A great, quieter chapter that really amps up the character development, which builds to one of the most difficult choices I've ever made in a Telltale game.

Also, the Shambala montage is absolute perfection!
