Maybe this was actually what Malick did before and we just didn't realize it. He actually films all his movies really close together but then waits 10 years or so to release them. The Tree of Life was actually filmed in 1998.

I actually considered this as a possibility for a moment. That's how mysterious Malick is to me.

It's a bit of a disjointed trailer, but I love all of Malick's work. A few years ago, I felt differently about him.
