Oh man, I've been seeing on these boards for months that NATM was going to fail and T4 was going to make over 300 million. That is hillarious that NATM is going to be the number one film over the weekend.

well I just got back from a near packed theater so...............
So...what? I read people say the exact same thing yesterday on the boxoffice mojo messageboards.

A theater report on the internet means nothing...call me when the movie goes up 35 to 50% tomorrow. Which it might for all I know but not because one theater was near packed.

Yep. You know, I'm not going to brag because boxoffice numbers aren't important and I'm wrong most of the time anyway(My Iron Man and TDK predictions were terrible) but it's funny to me how some people refused to even entertain the idea that NATM could be number one over the holiday weekend...even when TS was getting horrible reviews and overall bad buzz.

Although the numbers look close today NATM is going to win easily because it is a family film.

well, near packed means what? Large amount of tickets sold

just saying...........

and screw rotton tomatoes, tomortoes, tomeetees, whateverthehell

I've never been to the site and probably never will

I judge based on what I see

I really wish film reviewers would take a year off just so I can hear all the crap being said by all the people who wasted their money on movies they had no idea was bad because all they had to go by was studio propaganda.

We will see how well it does today. You are going to be disappointed if you are hoping for 25mil though.

That would be interesting.

you mean actually having to go and see a movie and judge for yourself whether or not it's worth a damn. Instead of relying on rotton tomatoes and the internet?

a concept so strange it just might work

oh wait, it did. In a time before the internet and rotton whogivesa****?

You are probably too young to remember a world without the internet but *gasp* people read reviews in the newspaper and magazines. And you're right, why reward a movie studio with our hard earned money for a good movie when we can just give our money away for having our time wasted. I don't know if you work or support yourself but I have better things to spend my money on then a 2 hour waste of time.

In 2002 my afternoon showing of Spider-Man wasn't even near packed and that movie opened with 114.8mil.

These theaters reports mean nothing and I think that was your point by posting this.

I also love how people criticise Rotten Tomatoes. God forbid someone makes a website that lets you see all the different reviews from all the different critics rather then going to a bunch of different websites. Damn you for convenience Rotten Tomatoes, damn you.

Exactly. When Rotten Tomatoes likes a movie that you like they are great when they don't it's a waste of time. Seriously most of the time IMHO RT is pretty reliable.

who bases what they see on what critics say?

if you do, that's just sad

i prefer to not waste my time or money. having said that i have never let critics or others make up my mind. but if im the fence a good or bad review might help make my decision a little more informed.

Mr. Brooks this isn't a thread about Rotten Tomatoes, this is a boxoffice thread. Love or hate T4, the fact is, so far, it's doing poorly.

be that as it may, I still enjoyed it. If I would have based my decision to see the movie on rotton tomatoes or what the critics are saying, I would have missed out on something I thoroughly enjoyed

bottom line, you don't listen to critics, you don't listen to rotton whatever. You go and see the movie (regardless how many bad reviews it gets) and judge for yourself

that's my point

that's how we did it in the 90's

that's how some of us still do it now

usually, the people who hate rottentomatoes and other websites like that are the ones who like crappy movies and have to defend them all the time...

But this was on a friday night. When everyone is off work and school and can come. ST was packed and I went to the same 7:45 show with TS as I did with ST.

It's called gathering opinions. You see, if you read reviews from any critic worth his title then that person will tell you what exactly they liked and didn't like about the film, so you read a few reviews and see what most people(cause that's what critics are, people) appreciated about the movie and what they didn't and what they took away from it. Then you decide for yourself if it's still worth seeing a movie and if what they didn't like you wouldn't see as such a big deal. Or you can just not read the reviews and sit there and say "critics suck, who cares what they have to say. I bet this movie rocks cause the commercials looked so cool" and you can bend over and take it from a bunch of studio heads who let a crappy movie be made knowing that there would be people who didn't care how much it sucked and would still pay money to see it cause "critics suck"

I'm not judging what my opinion of the flick is because I haven't seen it. I'm simply saying that it is having weak run so far. If I'm iffy on a movie you damn straight I'm going to look at reviews.

What's it at?
It made 13.4 mil on Thrusday and 14.8mil friday. So far thats a 28.4mil gross.

dude, that doesn't change the "fact" that the best critic is yourself

nothing else and nobody else matters, but YOU and YOUR OPINION

all the critics in the world can think a movie sucks, that doesn't mean you're going to think the same

unless you're some type of drone
I think you are just mad because a movie you liked isn't doing well at the boxoffice or with critics. Thats sad because as you say, you shouldn't care.
