First of all...Im not going to pay $15 bucks to see a movie that I dont think i'll like, just because I hope to eventually get another movie I might not like.

Second, this kind of sucks because at the end of T2 they could have just left us with happy thoughts...and now the franchise dies in the middle of a war for the future of the planet...kinda depressing to not see it actually come to an end in the story.

We could complete the arc with lego and hard work.

I'm seeing it today because I'm bored. I'll be sure to give all you my verdict.

And yes, the so-called franchise should have just stopped at number 2.

I think they might continue with T5 and T6 but maybe after a couple of years. It took about 7 years in between T1 and T2. Then it took about 12 years between T2 and T3. And it took about 6 years between T3 and T4. I think we might see T5 in another 7-10 years or so with a different John Connor (if Bale "bails" out of his contract...pun!)

Eh, I wouldn't be surprised, Hollywood has done dumber things before. I seriously doubt that Bale will be doing another one though. Still I don't see another 200mil being spent on the flick like it was with Salvation and T3.

None of that had to do with negative reaction though. Originally there was never going to be a sequel to T2, then the studio almost convinced Cameron to do T3, he left the project at the beginning and they decided to keep going. And T3 didn't have a negative buzz about it like it does in the fan boy community. Most people liked it and it's purpose was to set up this movie cause otherwise they would've had to have some long back story about how judgement day happened anyway after T2. This one is getting a lot of backlash though considering it's only it's first week in theaters. 3-4 years from now this will probably be considered even worse then it is because fanboy hatred grows over time for movies. They might make the next movie in the series but if it doesn't get made within 3 years I would bet anything it won't ever get made.

so T3 didn't get any negative reviews? People here treat it like it was the worst movie of all time...

I don't know what your fanboy obsession is all about, it's like you are blaming fanboys for this movie's boxoffice. If you are I call malarkey because fanboys make up a very small portion of the audience. Star Trek isn't making over 200mil because of fanboy or Trekkie support.

If T3 was so well received why didn't this movie do better opening weekend atleast? I'm sure T3 wasn't hated because it honestly wasn't a bad movie but it damn sure was no T2 to the audience at large. It was a huge step down and I think it hurt this flick.

Stop looking at the boxoffice through your emotional goggles for a minute and realize that you can still love T3 and Terminator Salvation regardless of what others think.

It got some, but it was rated much higher then this movie is. And yes, I know people on here seem to hate it but this is a fanboy site, this doesn't reflect the general population. Most people liked it. I'm not saying anyone thought it was a 10 but most people in the general public that saw T3 would give it a 7 or 8............this movie has been getting 3's and 4's. And that's not just from the critics

What? I don't know what you are talking about with me blaming fanboys for the box office? And I was pointing out that fanboys make up a very small portion of the audience? I'm unsure what about my post had you question either of those things.

Also, T3 didn't hurt this flick, T3 set up this flick. And this is a futuristic war film not a present day Terminator vs. Terminator film like 2+3 were so they can't even be compared

maybe the general audience prefers a terminator vs. terminator movie over what TS delivered.

Maybe I misread your post. I disagree with you about T3 though.

I don't understand how this movie is not getting better reviews than T3, let alone significantly worse-- not to mention the box office, which I was hoping would be somewhere in the neighborhood of Star Trek and Wolverine (seriously, how did Wolverine get a better opening than this?). The only thing that T3 got right was that it did an adequate job of emulating T2's action scenes, but for a movie that came out 10 years later that's not exactly a bragworthy feat. The biggest complaint I had about TS is that there were some themes that I felt should have been explored more, but that's at least a better theme than T3, where the only theme it had was "All that "no fate" stuff from T2 was a bunch of BS."

T3 was just a dumb action movie riding on the coattails of a much better, more intelligent film. While TS is not on T2's level, obviously, it at least brings something new to the franchise, and is respectful of what made the first two movies good. If this movie was an apology for T3, then it's an apology that I happily accept.

Well this movie had a lot of things going against it. Bad critic reviews, opening on a thursday was a mistake because then word spread by friday that most people didn't like the movie, Bale's rant on the lighting guy was bad publicity, I don't think that the trailer with the Nine Inch Nails music playing was really something that appealed to the mainstream public. The harvester that they kept showing in the commercials looked ridiculous. Plus you gotta think of the environment we are living in right now, a lot of families want to see a more upbeat film to take their minds off how much the world sucks now so seeing a desolate dreary war movie might not be what people need right now. Plus something I mentioned before was that because it's memorial day weekend a lot of parents take their kids to the movies and they all went and saw NATM 2

Do you really think that the Bale rant had a hand in hurting this film? I just kinda doubt it. I do think that Cinderella Man was hurt by the phone throwing incident but the rant came out months before the movie. I could be wrong but I just don't see it hurting the flim.

Not to the 13-30 crowds, no I don't. But you'd be suprised how many people there are out there who are in there 30's and up that won't pay money for something because they find something offensive that was done by a person in a movie or a music artist on a cd. Some people remember that stuff and it rubs them the wrong way.

so $56 for first 4 days.
This movie is not going to its budget back.
So I dont think fifth movie will happen.

I'm still not sure but I understand what you are saying.

If the movie makes a over 250mil internationally I can see a Terminator movie being made but not a sequel and it will have a much lower budget.

Fast and the Furious made more in its first weekend. FAST AND FURIOUS...PART 4.

I dont think it will even surpass how much Terminator 3 made. (150mil)
I don't either. I'm seeing 135mil right now. And 220mil overseas. For a grand total of 355mil on a 200mil budget and what was sure to have been atleast 100mil in marketing. Not exactly a success.

Thats what I said to my sister yesterday...embarrassing.

Not to mention the geeky Star Trek that was staring a bunch of nobody's. this movie was staring a man who had just played in a billion dollar movie. It's just not good anyway you look at it.

Damn it sucks that TS didnt do that well, its one of those things where I am wondering why?
Was it because it was too intense I mean if I had kids and I had the choice to take them to TS or Night at the Museum then I would prob taking them to the latter

I SEE SPIDEY:

You cant do a Terminator film without it being a sequel...you just cant. The next film theoretically should be the end where we forever defeat the machines...you cant cut that off and start over or tell a side story.

Ha! So much for the PG-13 rating, if it does come in #2. Incredibly disappointing, but if it sends a message to the studios not to puss out on ratings to make it more open to a wider audience, the better.

It also sends a message not to make a mediocre movie.

I'm guessing there are more Wolverine/X-men/Jackman fans than there are Terminator/Bale fans. It's the only explanation I can think of.

I like Bale but I don't believe that he is as big as the fanboys make him out to be. This movie is his genre and it did not perform well enough, at all.

ROFL Watchmen made more opening weekend lol

and of course jackman and wolverine have more fans 1 is ranked sexist man alive while the other is seen as a dick who ranted on an employee

wolverine is as popular as spiderman with the kids also
