so do movies based on books. they actually have a whole category for movies with blueprints to follow, it's called "ADAPTED screenplay"

Scorcese filmed some scenes shot-for-shot with Infernal Affairs man, same camera angles and everything. That's what I call having a blueprint. Having a screenplay is a hell of a lot less than actually having a completed film to go by.
