Scorcese filmed some scenes shot-for-shot with Infernal Affairs man, same camera angles and everything. That's what I call having a blueprint. Having a screenplay is a hell of a lot less than actually having a completed film to go by.

it may have borrowed from the original, but it ended up improving on it. either way, it's still a f***in great movie that deserves recognition and awards.

Unimportant? Dude, editing is certainly not an award that should be ignored. An editor can make or break the movie. Like, i said before editing award=best picture award. So if the departed wins tonight, editing will have played a huge part.

It didn't. I've seen the film. And I really liked it. But it wasn't as well written as Little Miss Sunshine. It's a nice, gorgeous fantasy film. Amazingly well written? Meh.
