The 79th Annual Academy Awards

How classy was it for the academy to have Jack present his movie as the winner? I gotta give it to them for that on the other had i have had it with individual groups getting lost of political attention at the oscars, did they have to have the mexican flag? Plus were those enviromental speeches needed? In anycase im glad The Departed won and Marty i feel somewhat fulfilled now.

WTF?
Sorry but how the heck did Eddie Murphy loose the supporting actor award to Alan Arkin??!?!?:( :down

Wow. I was going through wikipedia and I didn't know about that whole Mark Wahlberg, Flight 93 thing. Wild! :wow:

That was the downer of the night for me. But I'll get over it...eventually.

If Eddie lost the Oscar because he stars in movies like Norbit or that he tends to be arrogant on set or his personal situation with Scary Spice - Who the **** cares??!! It's his performance in Dreamgirls that counts and i think most people agree that he was great in that.:cmad: *sigh*

How many people win a Golden Globe and the SAG Award but loose at the Oscars? I can't think of any.:csad:

do you guys think 300 might be upfor anoscar next year?

Yeah, no offense to Alan Arkin, but he plays the same damn character in every movie.

Sad part is, both Eddie, & O'toole will never get an oscar now. The thought that O'toole is going to die not getting the golden nugget saddens me.

Jackie deserved it. Haley did the best work of the year from any actor, even Whittaker, in Little Children. He carried that film with that role.

Other than Jackie's loss, and Dreamgirls' loss to Etheridge, the night rolled along rather smoothly.

Ellen was a really, really funny host, making most of her "awkwardness" that drives most of her comedy. She was very natural, very.

Marty's year. We all knew it. I loved how even though he is a living legend, he still got nervous up there and started going wild with his words.

I wanted Babel to win, but The Departed deserved it all. Hands down. Just because of history. Marty won for The Departed and for every other great film he did or did not get nominated for.

lol. Yeah, Marty is great! And, I'm glad he actually won for something he deserved. The Departed was the best of `06. I always hate it when they give someone an overdue Oscar for something they didn't really deserve.

anyone got a video of marty winning? i wasnt able to catch the show.

Well said...well said.

3 nominations for Original Song and they still ended up loosing. And why didn't it get a Best Picture nomination?*shakes head*

the biggest bull**** is PAN's LABYRINTH NOT WINNING for Foreign film... WHAT GARBAGE!!!!

Clerk thoughts
- Ellen was a horrid host, I'm sorry. Maybe its because the last two years we were treated to Rock and Stewart.... I dunno why she wasn't on top of her game tonight.

I heard that the producers behind the Oscars were really careful to not offend anyone so they censored a lot of material.

Sacha Cohen wanted to appear as Borat during the Oscars, but the producers told him no.

I think the most shocking out of the lot was Pan's Labrirnyth not winning the best foreign movie
