I'm rooting for Demi/Angelina!
Even though we haven't seen the Oscar nominations yet, I have a feeling that it'll be either The Brutalist, Anora or Wicked taking Best Picture, with the first two being more likely since Wicked Part 2 will be in the running next year. Until recently I would have included Dune: Part Two in there but it seems to have lost some momentum. Still expecting it to be nominated though.I wouldn't be mad if Demi got the Oscar because she emoted her ass off in The Substance. Literally.
But my head tells me that Anora is gonna sweep this whole awards season.

I can't make heads or tails of too much just yet. It doesn't look like there's a clear frontrunner right now like Oppenheimer was last year.
Oh, Dune ain't everyone's cup of tea, lol. Frankly I'm actually surprised that these new movies have caught as much as they have because the source material isn't as widely accessible to audiences as something like Star Wars. You're probably right.
Wicked will definitely be included, not just because of the stellar performances, but they need the fans for viewership numbers for these awards shows also.
Please don't slap me, and I get that they are visually beautiful movies and made by an auteur, but the Dune movies are another phenomena that I just don't get. I was so bored watching the first one.![]()
Sure, but at least with Dune, they’re able to do interesting things without a fandom deciding to drive those responsible into hiding.Oh, Dune ain't everyone's cup of tea, lol. Yeah, the Chalamet lookalike contest really was a breath of fresh air if that even counts as fan behavior.Sure, but at least with Dune, they’re able to do interesting things without a fandom deciding to drive those responsible into hiding.![]()
It's funny people love to talk about how there aren't any new bonafide movie stars, but between the lookalike contest and his appearance on College Gameday, Chalamet is the guy.
I haven't even seen more than clips of Anora and I still think Mikey Madison deserves it.
I adored The Substance and Demi in it, but if she wins, it truly will be another Jamie Lee Curtis situation of "we've always been fans, so congrats for ACTING in a cool movie!"
Of the movies that are running in the awards race that I haven't seen yet:
The Brutalist
Nickel Boys
Baby Girl (seeing it tomorrow)
Flow
Hard Truths
The Seed of the Sacred Fig
All We Imagine as Light
No Other Land
September 5
Queer
The Room Next Door
The Last Showgirl
Night B**ch was one of those movies I forget exists until I see its title popping up. I need to see the reception for it.Have you seen that Amy Adams movie that has an expletive in the title? It's up for a Globe. I think I might check it out in a bit.

Amy needs to fire her agent. *Cough*I saw it, It's not the movie you think it should be.
It's got a gimmick that doesn't really work and what the movie is really about also doesn't really work. Amy Adams is still pretty good in it but that's about it.
It's just a lot of squandered potential.
Haven’t watched it yet, but give it Best Pic. Gotta see this ***** have a real meltdown.
