Very predictable year this year. The Academy needs to stop making their picks for most of their nominees from whatever bull**** they see at Cannes and nominate movies people actually saw and will remember. Anora winning? Fine. The Substance? Good way to finally give attention to horror movies for a change for the first time since 1991. But Emilia Perez being nominated for anything was despicable and transphobic and, I’m sorry, but Adrien Brody should have been disqualified due to the AI use. And the Best Songs category was a joke. No wonder none of them were performed!
Overall, the awards groups need to do better, be more open-minded to genre stuff, and actually MAKE their voters watch the stuff that gets nominated.
