Aquaman set rises from rocky headland at whale-watching hotspot Hastings Point

Crew working on Gold Coast-based Warner Bros. blockbuster Aquaman have begun building an elaborate lighthouse set at the northern NSW holiday hotspot.

Director James Wan will spend three days capturing footage at the lighthouse set next month after Tweed Shire Council gave Warner Bros permission to film at the popular whale-watching spot.

The location shoot will feature Kiwi actor Temuera Morrison, who plays Aquaman’s lighthouse keeper father Tom Curry. It is not yet known if Aquaman stars Jason Momoa, Amber Heard, Patrick Wilson or Nicole Kidman will join him.

Can't wait to see what that lighthouse looks like.

I do find it a bit strange that they don't use an existing lighthouse. I'm sure there's plenty of abandoned ones.
Not saying this for sure the case of why they aren't using an existing one, but with abandoned ones, you have questions raised as to what has to be done to ensure it's structurally sound and able to handle their equipment (any lighting rigs, etc...)? If it's an existing *not* abandoned one, they can be restricted by what changes they're allowed to make.

Building their own likely gives them more control/flexibility in being able to set it up the way they need it (instead of trying to alter an existing structure to conform to any specific needs)

Just my personal guess.

Yeah, you make a good point. And it should make the camera work easier if they construct it with planned angles in mind.

Plus we don't know what may happen to the building in terms of story. If Arthur has a knock down drag out fight against Orm or Manta there and it gets wrecked then it makes sense to have a structure you can blow up or smash characters through walls etc. The THRONE DTV had the lighthouse trashed by Orm's men and Mera came to Arthur's aid if I am remembering right. I would be down with a similar scene here.

This as well.

And yeah, I wouldn't mind something like that at all.

Aquaman/Orm fight scene I just hope it is epic like think Thor/Loki in Thor (2011)

I hope we get an Aquaman movie poster too. Like something that shows us what Aquaman's suit looks like along with others.

I think his suit will be the same as his Justice League suit but with a few differences like think BP suit in Civil War and then BP's new suit in his solo film more or less being the same but with a few differences that is what I think will happen with Arthur/Aquaman in the sense that he will have the same suit but with some improvements

Looking forward to seeing what Aquaman goodies they might drop this weekend

Black Manta reveal.

Please.

Honestly I hope it's a bit better. I was a little dissapointed with how quickly it was over and how Loki didn't really show any viciousness at the time. At least Arthur and Orm are evenly matched

I think because they're a bit tight to get around in especially with a huge crew like this movie has. Not like the old round the twist days!

Geoff Johns on Arthur/Aquaman at SDCC '17:

He thinks he's a half-breed. His is brother Orm is full Atlantean & its Arthur's job to bring the worlds together.

He considers himself a man of no world. And its not until he's with Mera that he finds a place in life.

Cool. I'm looking forward to seeing what Orm looks like.

Well now I hope there's some adequate build up for Mera's character and the relationship between her and AM in JL.

I hope so too. Mera is my favorite female character so I want justice done for her, obviously. But Johns has been saying that her role in JL is important so we'll see what they do.

Question for people who know the Aquaman lore a little deeper :rimshot:

What do you think they will do with Mera? Will she be from Xebel with ties to Nereus (Dolph Lundgren)?

In the recent animated movie, Throne of Atlantis, they made her a guard for queen Atlanna. But if they're adding Nereus, they should follow her roots and she should be from Xebel.

Yes and in flashbacks her previous mission to assassinate Arthur should definitely be explored.

Yeah I'm really looking forward to that bit too. Mera the assassin

I can't wait to see what they're going to tease for Aquaman tomorrow. What do you guys think we'll get?!

Thanks for the info re: Mera! That should be cool. Can't wait to see all the intrigue in the movie.

Tomorrow I hope we get maybe a bit of a behind the scenes video, a mixture of the cast and crew talking about Aquaman, some concept art and a little of what they''ve been filming....(?)
