This is great. Finally a trident with three prongs instead of five.

Thought the trailer was decent, CGI in some places was a little iffy & I'm not too sure how I feel about the talking in the open water.. I mean I knew this was going to come up but I hope they add some sort of effect over the voices that then disappears when they're on the surface.. and no not a bubble, gargling or muffled type effect just make it less clear.

Cheers.. just made me spit out some of my tea with that comment. :argh: :woot:

No worries

... you’re allowed to do whatever you want. You think the WB gestapo are gonna come into your house at night or something? Now... if this were actually a legitimate question... then yes... I’m sure it’d be a nice gesture to not use a plastic straw during the movie... or here on out. If helping our oceans and our pollution problem is important to you, than avoiding excessive plastic can’t hurt.

Why do I suspect this was a dig more than a legitimate question though?

Geez jokes has to end with a :o these days to not offend anyone eh

Shazam was the standout for me, but the Aquaman trailer was also a lot better than I was expecting. To have three DC films that I'm actually anticipating is something I wasnt expecting going into SDCC

So it looks like from the article that Arthur and Mera set out on a quest to find Atlan's trident. To find it they must go to each of the 7 kingdoms and get a clue which will send them to the next one.

that doesn't look like Arthur or Orm. Is it Atlan?

I think it's a king from Atlantis ancient past. Could be Atlan, could be the Atlantean King from Justice League, they might be the same person.

I think That's King Nereus

Gonna disagree with ya there. I think it's Atlan. Nereus in the books has a Glaive not a trident. Could be wrong and that could be Dolph there but I don't think so.

I am excited as hell now for this movie.

This visual alone got me hyped. Looks like Guardian's of the Galaxy look meets underwater look.

I would love be to see some less futuristic areas underwater too, with ruins, pillars, broken stairs, statues etc.

I need a comic to read about Brine King but I guess they made him up for the movie. I don't know why I like his design a lot. He's like a crab hulkbuster. I dig it

I got a huge Avatar vibe from it. Need to see it on IMAX 3D screen

It does resemble Avatar a bit.

Interesting article here on how Aquaman's story may well mirror Black Panther's, but from the opposite perspective:

https://screenrant.com/aquaman-movie-black-panther-comparison-killmonger/?utm_content=buffer9adba&utm_medium=Social-Distribution&utm_source=SR-TW&utm_campaign=SR-TW

Obviously, they're making some assumptions based on what's in the trailer, but from a story-telling point of view, I find the similarities around that one major difference to be fascinating. It's a classic story of course - shunned outsider comes into community to change it and reclaim his birth right, but for two superhero movies to do it so close together, but from opposite viewpoints, proves it's still a very strong narrative idea even now.

In here: https://youtu.be/-mbwC6W2Qq4 James Wan says that we see Atlantis for the first time with Arthur. But, in Justice League Arthur has already been to Atlantis, right? So are they retconning or does this take place before JL?

Or it might be a flashback.

We saw like one place in JL. I think it's obvious what Wan means.

It'll likely be a Flashback; Arthur seemingly knows where Atlantis (and by extension that Motherbox) is during the events of JL, that wouldn't be information he'd have if he didn't get to visit Atlantis until after JL had occurred.

Aquaman is (in part) an origin story, so expect a few flashbacks; they've got to do a couple with his mother anyway.

Wan prob means don't do the Atlantis Atlantis.

So Zack did the peripheral or the rural region of Atlantis with only a few guards and Mera herself.

I just think of it like that.

The 5 pointed "trident" always bothered me. Like it was change for the sake of change because I guess 5 is cooler than 3?

That makes sense to me.
I think there's a difference between the city of Atlantis, and the nation of Atlantis.
He's spoken to Atalanteans and been to a few outposts, but never to the capital.
Like having visited a farm in New York State, but never having been to New York City.

There was an interview around the time of JL where Momoa talked about it (and the backstory that was left out in the TC), he basically said that Vulko has been teaching and training Arthur since he was a kid (as we can see in the AM trailer) and that Vulko took him to the "peripheries" of Atlantis, or something like that in the past; now that would align with, for example, getting a lot more info on Atlantis, its story and see some of its ruins in Snyder's original cut, but maybe there was never any intention of showing Atlantis in its full glory as it is right now, which would also line up with Zack's comments about not wanting to step on other directors' shoes (as in his decision of not giving a new suit to The Flash at the end of the movie).

Yea, that makes sense. Hopefully we get a flashback to how Arthur met Mera.
