Character Application

Character you would like to play: Sharon Carter aka Director 13

Powers: Sharon is a trained athlete and highly martial artist, spending a year of intense training in Japan. She is highly trained in the ways of espionage, weapons and firearms, and computers. She is specifically skilled in wielding swords and hand-to-hand combat.

Basic history of the character (Up until this point):

Sharon was born in Richmond, Virginia, the daughter of two wealthy Virginians, Harrison and Amanda Carter. She grew up with the stories of her aunt (Margaret "Peggy" Carter) who was a freedom fighter with the French Resistance during World War II. During this time, Peggy worked alongside Steve Rogers, the patriotic hero known as Captain America, on several occasions. The two fell in love despite Rogers never finding out her name, but were separated in the closing weeks of the war. They did not find each other again before Rogers was thought dead.

Inspired by her aunt's adventures, Sharon decided to become a vigilante of her own, putting a stop to the criminals of the streets. Sharon went by the name '13' a play on the unlucky number, as she believed as soon as she saw a criminal; it would be their unlucky day. Sharon went under intense training by Ann Fraley, a good friend of her Aunt's, Marian Pouncy, a martial arts champion and her very own Aunt, in the techniques of Espionage. However these days were short lived when the death of Charles Xavier caused more upset than ever to the growing population of Mutants and Carter's dearest parents were shot during a street riot. This caused great trauma for Sharon and she retired.

Sharon than traveled to Japan and spent a year learning every single type of martial arts, as well as super stealth and weaponry use. She then traveled back to Russia, where she learnt expertise Espionage, computer hacking and leadership skills. Finally traveling back to America, Sharon had decided it was time to put an end to the mess left by the former agency SHIELD and start up her own organization, to keep every hero in check, as well as the Mutants. Starting up HAMMER, Sharon made her main goal to retrieve the world's once greatest hero Captain America.

Why Have You Chosen That Character?: I liked her in the comics, but she was just kind of just used as a love interest for Captain America, but here I can expand her.

What Do You Plan On Doing With This Character (IE: How are you changing him or her?): I plan on making her more of an independent character instead of just being Captain America's fling on the side and more skilled in the heroics department.

Two Complete Sentences Explaining What You Can Bring To This RPG (As A Player): I think I can bring a stronger look on poorly portrayed character's in the 616 continuity. I can also alter characters well to fit the current universe.

Please provide a small sample post in the format you wish to portray your character in (Minimum three paragraphs/one line of dialogue, maximum six paragraphs):

A kick in the neck, an elbow in the stomach, then finish off with a fist up the chin. You can do this Sharon, come on. I've already taken down the dark haired biker babe, the pink haired diamond freak, now I just need to get this Viking type female to the floor. Our eyes meet for a split second; I can see her fists tightening up and her neck muscles tensing. My mouth flinches a quick smirk, before I take a leap forwards, my body now fully tensed.

"Foolish woman!" The Viking type woman roars. The end of my boot sharply meets the side of the woman's neck. She lets out another roar, this time in agouny. I take this oppurtunity and swoop low, my elbow plunging straight into her steel stomach.

"I'm not going to ask you again,"

I manage to spit out a few words as the woman clutches her stomach, swining her bulldozer of a fist towards my face. I quickly wrap my delicate hands around the large fists. I then slightly bend my knees, launching myself over the large Viking woman, landing perfectly still behind her. The woman seems confused, but waists no time into prepelling her next attack. I quickly see her spinning round, her fist heading straight towards me once again. This time I'm not quick enough to dodge it. "This is from Sinthia!"

Those words rang in my ears as her fist catches the edge of my hip, causing me to hurl back to the floor, unleashing a grunt of pain. I don't waste any time to jump onto my feet and pull out my gun, firing straight away. The bullets soared straight out of the gun and towards the large, enraged woman. The two bullets quickly pierced it's way into her arm. I think now, I've got the upper hand. Finally, the last one is down, falling back, laying with great pain, next to her unconcious buddies. My moment of glory is soon interrupted when Agent Alisande Morales storms into the room, a gun in tact. Behind her are two masked secruity guards.

"Help is not needed. You've failed to meet my call on time and now I've taken down the intruders all by myself. Keep this up Morales and you'll be outta here faster than you can say 'Go'. Is that understood?" I speak sternly, I'm serious about these things. Especially when it comes to new recruit Morales. My lips stand perfectly still, I watch Morales as she hestitantly nods.

"Good. Now I want you to lock these women away and get me Agent Danvers."

To be perfectly honest with you, J'adore, I'm not too comfortable with approving this. This is your sixth application. (Five if you don't include Pepper Potts.) Whatever happened to Scarlet Witch? Emma Frost? Jocasta? Whitney Frost? You've shown very little staying power with characters (with the exception of Jocasta, I'll give you that). But this is the Director of HAMMER. In the Ultimate Marvel RPG, we didn't even let people play Nick Fury because we felt it was too much responsibility.

I'm not going to rule either way on this one yet. I want to see what Andy has to say.

On the one hand, you're a good enough player that you would be able to pull off Sharon Carter quite nicely, and the app itself is good. And technically, there's nothing in the rules that would allow us to deny it. Plus, HAMMER has been pretty under-represented in this game, and I'd love to see them step into the forefront, maybe do some spy vs spy stuff with Fury and SHIELD.

On the other hand, Eddie does bring up a very big sticking point: with the exception of Jocasta, you're not exactly known for sticking with your characters. And given that Director 13 is a pretty important character in the game, I'm a little hesitant to give the nod to someone who may very well drop her after just a handful of posts. We've already got too many characters who are just sort of left in limbo after being picked up and then set adrift when the player gets another idea.

So here's my ruling: Yes, you are APPROVED for Sharon Carter, but on a probationary period. The character is yours, as long as you are able to consistently post with her (say, once a week). We'll relax on this once you've shown that you're back for the long haul. Sound fair?

Reading the posts, I can see how awful I must come across. I'm just a fickle person and finding a good character that I can expand with is quite hard. I know I've been away for a while and now I've come back I've wanted to start fresh, otherwise it would of just looked a bit weird if I was so far behind on my previous arcs whilst everyone else had gotten so far ahead with their's.

Nimbiro and Bahamut are both past the 30-day limit. Otto Octavius and Ghost Rider are now fair game for anyone who wishes to apply for them.

The Question's last posts as Norman Osborn and Victor Von Doom were on 7/21. Which means that, as of today, he's got two days to post before his characters become fair game.

Technically, as long as no one else applies for him, you're fine to re-apply. However, if someone else does apply within 12 hours of your application, then it's up to me and Eddie to decide who gets it.
