Hopefully, I'd say we're about two-thirds of the way through the season.

CoreBrute, as for your PM suggestion, I'm still mulling over it. Do you need a response from me right away, or can you proceed until I've considered all the details?
?

I don't need a response immediately, because I am in the middle of a plot with Spider-man, Dr Octopus and possibly Scorpion. So you can take your time.

Sorry for the souble post, but I wanted to know about this world's Silverman family. Are they a traditional mafia family, with modern weaponry, or advanced and high tech weapons and expertly trained soldiers as muscle?

I haven't really gone into much detail regarding Silvermane's organization, since the only crime syndicate Spider-Man has encountered has been Tombstone's. From what has been alluded to, however, the Manfredi family is the largest part of the larger Maggia syndicate, which includes a few other families in multiple cities. They're run like a traditional Mafia-style organized crime syndicate, mainly dealing in drug running, weapons smuggling, prostitution, that sort of thing.

Most of the street-level muscle are your typical goons with guns (Matt Murdock's Devils were able to rip through them pretty easily). However, inside Silvermane's inner circle, the firepower is much more formidable. And while he doesn't have a mad scientist to create his own supervillains like Tombstone and the Tinkerer, Manfredi isn't above hiring them from outside (he's currently hired Sergei Kravenov to deal with the Chinese Triads run by Mister Negative, for example)

Wait, does Sergei have his super powers yet? I guess in this version he's taken some kind of non-mystical serum for his powers, like Osborn's super soldier formula. Or he could be a mutant like his half-brother Alyosha Kravinoff.

I really want to see Sergei in action. Any posts he's been in?

I've planned to have Nick Fury and Sharon Carter only have a brief meeting.

Sergei has only been mentioned in passing right now: the only thing that's been established is that he's working for Silvermane, on loan from the Russian Mob. He'll probably power up after a run-in with Spidey.

Screen Name: lilgreenthumb

Character you would like to play (please include the color and font you plan on using to portray the character): Domino aka Neena Thurman, Beatrice.

Powers and Brief Origin (provide at least two sentences):

The mutant Domino possessed the rather peculiar ability to control probabilities of herself and other individuals. This allows her to give herself ‘good luck’ while her enemies, ‘bad luck’. Much of the mutant’s power remains unexplained. Aside from her mutant abilities Domino is a trained marksman, hand to hand combatant and skilled in demolitions.

The mutant known as Domino is somewhat shrouded in mystery. It is known that she is an American citizen, a native to southern Florida and has long participated in covert acts. Working for the American government, criminal organizations and a handful of international benefactors. For much of Neena’s young adult life she has avoided the whole mutant problem, much more focused on filling her bank account and staying alive in this crazy world.

For much of her twenties she worked all over the globe, sometimes as a double agent. Government bodyguard by day, exquisite jewel thief by night. Being a woman of action, it surprised Beatrice herself when she fell in love with a client. A man she had been paid to protect, Milo Thurman, would become her first true love. Their relationship was filled with passion and understanding, something Domino had never even believed in and here she had it, sitting right in front of her.

Their relationship, unfortunately was short lived thanks to the fact that her fiancé, Milo Thurman was in very apparent danger. Since the man possessed the uncanny ability to predict the shift of world events and the change of power of governments, many dangerous people across the globe wanted this man dead or at least in their court. Of course it was Dom’s job to keep him alive, something she was very good at, but people are not perfect and mistakes do happen, even with the best of luck.

One grim evening the loving couple were positioned in a fancy Manhattan hotel, awaiting room service as Domino had been warned by her superiors that their had been a tip on a potential hit attempt. Little did they know it was too late. Unknown operatives, burst into the high rise building, through the windows and bashed in the front door armed to the teeth.

They showed no mercy, Dom barely made it with her life…but then again they were not after herself. When the dust settled and with more than half of the opposition laying broken on the floor, Dom’s prince charming was gone. They hadn’t killed him, there was no body, no blood. They needed him and that give Dom time to find him, and make these people pay.

Since the abduction of her husband, Domino has seen a dark cloud cover her existence, now a mercenary for hire Neena hopes that rubbing elbows with the scum of society will help her track Milo’s abductors down and if he is still alive, she will rescue him.

Group your character is aligned with : The almighty dollar.

Write two complete sentences using proper English grammar. One to explain what you plan to do with the character you've chosen. The other to explain why you've chosen this character. (i.e. What are your goals? Will you be doing anything different with the character than is usually seen?):

I’ve always enjoyed playing strong, female characters as there needs to be more of us in this world, so I decided to choose Domino. I plan to start her off as a villain, a freelance mercenary for hire. Might have her tangle with a couple heroes before I have her decide on an affiliation.

Do you have an Instant Messenger? Which one, and what is your screen name?:
I feel like old balls, but its been years since I have used an Instant Messenger, but if needed I can be reached at [email protected] on MSN.

Please provide a small sample post with original content in the style that you plan to write your character in (must be at least 3 paragraphs long and contain at least one line of dialogue):

“Beatrice, my dear. You make me so happy.” Milo Thurman exclaimed as he popped open a bottle of ice cold champagne. Filling the two flutes with the carbonated beverage, starring lovingly across the room to the pale skinned vixen across the room. Dom was all business for just a couple minutes longer. Checking the room thoroughly for surveillance equipment, taking a thorough glance down to the roaring city streets. Everything seemed to be in order.

Looking away from work, she smiled sweetly at the man, the only person who had ever loved her, he that she felt the same. What a relationship? It was like something out of Hollywood. Highly paid bodyguard falls for nerdy client, Domino’s smile widened a little more. Something few people saw in her, a smiling, happy woman. “You make me feel like a real person”. Sort of an odd response, hopefully Milo knew what she meant.
Walking away from the window Dom approached her lover, reaching for the champagne flute, toasting her company and taking a rather long drink. “This is my only glass, I gotta keep my head in the game…”.

Knock…Knock…

“Dinner has arrived” she stated, setting the piece of glassware down and moving with grace towards the double doors. A quick look through the peephole, confirmed the couples steak dinners had arrived…but something inside Dom was telling her this wasn’t quite right. She gestured to her male client to take a couple steps back, so she could do a proper security check, slowly opening the door.

Two hotel employees stood on the other side, with a cart covered in silver dishware, more champagne and a delicious looking mousse dessert. “Good evening gentlemen.” Speaking as monotone as possible. “Can I see your identification?” she asked sternly, watching both of the men as they flashed there ID cards and begin to unload the food to a nearby table. A subtle, sigh of relief as one of the men put his hand out for a tip, Dom went to flip the gent a couple dollars for his services, the windows behind her shattered, into a deafening, million little pieces.

“Oh hell, no!” Domino had just been fooled by the oldest trick in the book, luckily…she had a little something on her side and not just the pistol that she had just removed from its holster. A furry of fists is what the two posing as hotel employees were introduced to, she dived gracefully to her client and lover next, bringing him low to the ground behind the antique sofa. Cocking duel pistols close to her face, she nodded her head at Milo to assure him and tossed a smoke bomb towards the enemy, where the windows used to be.

“Beatrice?” Milo questioned, looking frightened now, compared to his happy-go-lucky demeanour minutes ago. “How are we going to--” A white finger brought to his lips cut him off mid sentence.

“Ssshhh” Speaking through her teeth, “They have numbers and surprise” even grinning a little at this point, holding two automatic pistols up close to the sides of her face “We have my two best friends . . . And a little luck. Stay down.” Finishing firmly and firing a couple shots into the smoke filled room. The familiar sound of a couple 200 lbs bodies hitting the ground and Dom was off, leaping into the fight and dropping these noobs like they were hot. When the smoke began to clear, in the midst of fighting these aggressors off, Dom called for Milo. Was he okay? Did they get him?

“Milo? MILO?--” not an answer, she fought her way through, breaking necks and not bothering to take any names. “Milo? Where are you dammit?” She crouched by the hiding spot, he was a gone. All that remained was a couple sacks of human flesh and their now cold and shot up steak dinners. They had got him and she had failed.

***I sourced MarvelDirectory.com for her powers and some parts of her history.

First of all, welcome to the boards. Now to take a look at what you've got here....

In all honesty, it's not a bad app, though I'd recommend only using phrases like "dropping noobs like it's hot" if you're saying it in first-person narration.

The problem, though, is that Domino has already been established in-game, as she was NPCed a bit during TrueMastermind's run as Wolverine. She's currently a member of the Reavers, a mutant mercenary team that also includes Logan, Silver Fox, Banshee, and Daken. Together, she and Logan were able to take down Deadpool, but Domino was wounded in the fight. She was last seen helping the Reavers fight off the Hulk (who had been captured and sent by HAMMER to neutralize them, aided by Sabretooth and the Weapon-X team).

However, she only really filled out a background role for most of it, so I believe her actual backstory and characterization are still open for interpretation. You're still free to play the character, just as long as you tweak what you've got to fit what's in-game, as we don't do retcons in this game.

And Victor asked for some data on her while looking for them before the first Reavers/Weapon X fight and he got a short list of it, i think Bruce Banner also mentioned her prior to the fight Hulk had with them.

Hey Andy, i had an idea for Kraven, mind if I Pm ya about it?

CoreBrute, I hate to be a dick, but please, PLEASE remove that last line from your last Sandman post. Peter figuring out the "power/responsibility" thing for himself is a huge part of his development as Spider-Man, and it makes no sense for him to get his single defining line from one of his villains.

Also, Spidey's not wearing the red-and-blues yet.

Personally I thought it would have been interesting to hear it from a villain, a nice twist on his story but I see where your coming from.

Also there are no pictures of Sandman fighting a hoody Spider-man. I know he's wearing the hoody. This is just to demonstrate how it looks.

I've edited it now.

Yeah, the pic thing honestly doesn't bother me, so you don't have to edit that. But yeah, Spidey's never even said the line at all himself, so it doesn't fit if he's hearing it for the first time from a villain who's not even his main nemesis.

To be fair, his main nemesis hasn't been defined yet. It's not the Big Man, and Venom is banned until the second season. Osborn hasn't changed yet, I don't think.

That's why it's called a revamp. Anything can happen. But I fixed it. Now post the response, and let's get back to some old fashioned beat em up fighting!

I've got some Spider-man noir scans that might work better. I'll use those. On a side note, does anyone else have any good sandman scans?

Okay. I will be a little busy here over the weekend, back to work and all but Ill take some time, possibly Sat and Sun to review some material and make the necessary edits. I may also just choose another character altogether, depending on the board history of Domino. Thanks again.

No prob. I'll let you know in advance, an awful lot of characters have been established as NPCs, so if you want to know if anything's been done with someone, either do a quick search of the IC thread or send me a PM if you have any questions.

With my last post, I think I'm really pushing the boundries of what I'm allowed to do creatively.

"Somebody Stop Me!" ;)

If anyone is disappointed by my dropping of Nick Fury, fear not! He's merely been resigned to support NPC, for my potential third character:

The All-Star Marvel RPG
Character Application

Character you would like to play: Captain America (James Buchanan Barnes, formerly James Steven Rogers)

Powers: Enhanced strength, agility, durability, longetivity (slower aging), tactically skilled mind and expert hand-to-hand combatant. The superhuman powers are heredity, so they're not as potent as generally portrayed.

Basic history of the character (Up until this point):
Taken from Batman's original app:
Batman said:
In the winter of 1945, James Rogers was born to America's greatest hero. The son of army veteran Steve Rogers and reporter Gail Richards, the infant was instantly christened as the nation's first son on account of his father's integral part in survivng the recently ended second World War. Called "Bucky" by Steve on account of his love for the Buck Rogers movie serials, the first few years of James' life were relatively pleasant. He and his mother would often attend social functions and charities with Steve, introducing James to a world no other child was ever quite familiar with - the world of real life superheroes. For a time, James adored his father, who finally retired his duties as 'Captain America' in the spring of 1957 to settle down and raise his son.

Then Vietnam came. Under intense military pressure, Rogers struggled with the decision to once again go to war and lead a batallion into the conflict between the Northern and Southern parties. Despite the decision never being quite made, word spread fast that Captain America would return, and some have since theorized that this contributed to the tragedy that would happen next. While negotiating his terms with government forces on the decision itself, Steve Rogers was assassinated by a sharpshooter's bullet. The country instantly mourned their fallen hero, but it was his family that was affected most. No one cried the hardest on that day than little James, who didn't know Rogers as "Cap"... just as his father.

Fearing a conspiracy as the battle in the war grew harsh, President Lyndon B. Johnson personally convinced Rogers' widow that she and her young son were not safe, and relocated them from Washington to Iowa under assumed aliases - They became Barnes family as a result, and quietly resumed their lives amongst their tragic circumstances. As Gail continued to age, it soon became apparent that her son would not, prompting her decision to keep the boy in private school and become a shut-in herself. By 1995, when James should have been 50 years old, he left home to finally start his life as a 21-year old college graduate. He married, then divorced, and moved to New York City within a five year period in the hopes of becoming a medical technician.

But even after all of his time in hiding, Barnes was being watched. Both by kindred spirits and a hostile threat. Isaiah Bradley, a top ranking member of the CIA, was personally overseeing a top-priority project called "Rebirth", designed to recreate the circumstances that gave birth to the original Captain America. Though it hadn't been immediately apparent, Bradley suspected and later confirmed that Rogers' son had carried his father's superhuman abilities through blood. Though his superiors wanted to use a sample of Barnes' blood to simply carry on the recreation of a super-soldier serum, Bradley saw potential in the (seemingly) young man. It wasn't until tragedy would later revisit the Rogers family that he was assured he could turn James into the successor to his father's mantle.

Gail Richards-Barnes, who was never one to leave her home, was instantly targeted by a rogue organization that had discovered the true location of the Rogers family. Before Bradley and his CIA superiors could warn Barnes of the impending attack, Gail was overpowered by a towering masked assassin calling himself Crossbones. Though he went in with the intention of a kill, the assassin allowed her to live in order to send a message to those who would discover her, choosing to instead inflict trauma that would induce the elderly woman into a comatose state. James, discovering what happened, angrily demanded answers from Bradley. The CIA agent revealed his true ties to an organization called HAMMER, and offered James a chance to face down the age-old organization that had been believed to have killed his father and attacked his mother - Hydra. After initial refusal, Barnes eventually turned around on his decision and agreed to become an operative for HAMMER until he could dismantle Hydra and prevent them from hurting his family again.

It has been three years since, and James Barnes has only recently completed an extensive training regimine. He is now a master hand-to-hand martial artist, an expert tactician, and the only man alive truly worthy of suceeding the late Steve Rogers as America's champion - The new Captain America.

Since donning the costume, James was contacted by a SHIELD Operative by the name of Clint Barton, also known as "Hawkeye," and taken to meet the elusive Nick Fury. He was asked to take part in assembling a special task force to deal with problems that SHIELD could not handle. Not long afterward, he encountered and attempted to kill the legendary terrorist known as the Red Skull, but to no avail.

Captain America found himself encountering non-government-affiliated superheroes more and more regularly, first teaming up with Iron Man and Thor to stop the rampaging Hulk, then crossing paths with the synthetic being known as the Vision, and most recently leading a team that included his previously-encountered allies as well as Spider-Man and Miss Marvel, in order to stop the alien mastermind Super Skrull from attacking Times Square.

His unofficial status as a leader in the superhero community, however, cost him a major ally, as Sharon Carter, the Director of HAMMER, attempted to round up the fellow heroes in the wake of the battle. Outraged by this heavy-handed bullying tactic, James publicly turned his back on Carter and left HAMMER.

Now technically a rogue super-human and being attacked in the press as a 'traitor', James Buchanan Barnes must prove himself worthy of his father's legacy....even if it means defying the very people who made him what he is.

Why Have You Chosen That Character?:
First and foremost, because the game really needs someone playing Captain America. Plus, Cap has always been one of those characters that I've wanted to play with but never quite got to: he's got all the unshakable idealism of someone like Superman, with the fighting skill and awesomeness of Batman. Plus playing Cap allows me to continue some of my SHIELD stuff without having to play a guy who spends most of his time holed up in his headquarters.

What Do You Plan On Doing With This Character (IE: How are you changing him or her?):
Well, apart from continuing on where Byrd left off, I'm going to start inching Cap towards becoming the leader and icon that he's more or less destined to become, even if that's not necessarily what he has in mind.

Two Complete Sentences Explaining What You Can Bring To This RPG (As A Player): I can bring what I always try to bring, which is rich characterization and plot-driven storytelling, hopefully with some kick-ass action thrown in. Not to mention a fanatical devotion to this RPG.

Please provide a small sample post in the format you wish to portray your character in (Minimum three paragraphs/one line of dialogue, maximum six paragraphs):

The compound is barely distinguishable from any other derelict building you'd find this far out in the country: a two-story former hotel on the outskirts of a barely-populated town thirty minutes from the nearest interstate. Considering how tucked away and inconspicuous it is, it's no surprise that HAMMER never detected it.

In some ways, it's even less of a surprise that Fury did find it.

From the outside, the place is just a decrepit piece of run-down suburbia. On the inside, though, it's crawling with HYDRA agents. I know as much because I'm currently fighting nearly a dozen of them.

Their bullets PANG and PAK against my shield harmlessly as I charge forward, before bringing the nearest one down with a punch that crunches his nose and front teeth. I spin low, sweeping the legs out of the next agent with a kick, before driving the edge of my shield into his temple--not enough to break his skull, but enough to incapacitate.

There are four more on the other of the room, too far to take out efficiently with hand to hand. I pull my sidearm and take them down with a single round apiece. Kneecap. Shoulder. Gun hand. Gut. All incredibly painful, but not immediately lethal. Even if these men are HYDRA, given my current status, it wouldn't do much good to have it leaked to the press that Captain America went on a killing spree in rural Illinois.

Out of the corner of my eye, I see the others withdrawing, along with their commanding officer. I hurl my shield at him, and it bounces with a CRACK off the back of his skull. He tumbles to the ground, and after quickly dispatching his bodyguards, I'm on him.

"Now then," I say, pressing the edge of my shield against his throat. "A few weeks ago, HYDRA made off with a tactical nuke during an operation in Chicago. You're the regional commander of all local HYDRA chapters, which means no operations go down within two hundred miles of here without your knowledge. Tell me where the bomb is."

"*hhnk!* Or what?" the commander says with a mocking grin. "You'll knock me out like the rest of my men? You can't kill me, can you?"

"You work for an organization that deals in mass-murder,"
I say, pulling my shield away from his throat, and instead kneeling down to place the barrel of my gun against his forehead. "And considering what HYDRA has done over the years, to the world at large and to me in particular, killing you wouldn't cost me a wink of sleep. Now then.....where's the bomb?"

The All-Star Marvel RPG
Character Application

Character you would like to play: Norman Osborn

Powers: No powers, but Norman is an expert in the chemical and bio-engineering fields. A master startegist, Osborn is a machiavellian manipulator to the nth degree.

Basic history of the character (Up until this point):
Question said:
Norman was born into the aristocratic Osborn family. His father, Amberson, squandered the family fortune. While the retained much of the property of a wealthy family, such as their luxurious (and rent controlled) pent house apartment and their mansion in the suburbs (which they rented out to vacationers nine months out of the year), they were pretty squarely middle class, with his father just scraping by as a paper salesman. He became an alcoholic, and an abusive one at that, regularly lashing out and belittling his wife and son. He never touched them, though. He was an Osborn. They're above violence.

Norman's childhood was troubled. His father's regular harassment and tirades about money once drove a distraught Norman to kill the family dog, to make sure there was one less mouth to feed. Naturally, this only incurred his father's wrath. Amberson's abuse ranged from from things as small as forbidding Norman from making a costume for or going out trick or treating on Halloween, seeing it as a waste of money, to locking him in the family estate alone for a whole night in order to toughen him up. There, he was left with only his great grandfather's collection or ornate masks for company, which he would remain frightened of until he inherited them when his father died.

He attended ESU, studying chemistry and electrical engineering. There, he met Emily, whom he married shortly after graduating. He started a chemical company, Oscorp, and planned with Emily to start a family. They had a son, Harry, but not a year later Emily died in a car accident, leaving Norman a single parent, and in grief. He vowed to give his son a happy life, and not to be the kind of father Amberson was. The result is somewhat mixed. While he has given Harry everything he could ever want, and pushes him to succeed, he is distant, cold, and obsessed with his work. he has become a shrewd and ruthless businessman, which has made him very wealthy but given him an unfavorable reputation.

Since then, Osborn has went about his business at Oscorp while acting as a foster father to Peter Parker and funding efforts to create new and stronger post-humans.

Why Have You Chosen That Character?: I played Goblin once in OU and I never got a real chance to interact with Spidey. Now, with him as an adopted son and all that stuff it should be interesting.

What Do You Plan On Doing With This Character (IE: How are you changing him or her?): I want to show how Norman's dark side and how it starts to take over and consume him as his company starts to go down the drain. When everything starts to go wrong for him, he makes a choice that will change the course of his life and the life of so many others.

Two Complete Sentences Explaining What You Can Bring To This RPG (As A Player): Decent RPer with a four year experience on these boards. Also, I can bring a legendary Spidey rogue!!!!11elventy!!!1

Please provide a small sample post in the format you wish to portray your character in (Minimum three paragraphs/one line of dialogue, maximum six paragraphs):

The mask.

I see it every time I close my eyes.

Suddenly, I'm 10 again and running through the empty mansion, alone and crying. Father and Mother left, locking me inside in an effort to "toughen me up" as Father gruffly puts it. As much as I want to not cry, I can't help it. The tears run until my face is slick and wet and I can't see where I'm going. The Persian rug hits my feet and I fall face forward, slamming into the hardwood floors with a hard thud. Wiping the tears from my face, I look up and feel my stomach go cold.

A demon stands before me, its face green and sickly with his eyes ablaze and its mouth twisted in a grotesque, maniacal smile. The smile and the laughter have haunted my dreams for 30 years.

"HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!"

"No!"

I snap awake, startled and confused. I'm in my office, the memory in the mansion is a bad dream three decades gone by.

"Mister Osborn," my secretary buzzes on the intercom.

"Yes?"

"Just making sure you're okay. I heard a noise."

I look around my desk, adjusting my tie as I scan things over. My suit is wet, sweating through it during my brief nap.

"I'm fine. Dozed off for a second and woke up with a start. I'll be fine. I need Oscorp's third quarter reports available in a half hour."

"Yes, sir."

I cut the line and swivel in my chair, facing the window and looking out at the New York skyline. The laughter in my nightmare still echoes in my head.

Approved and approved!

(Iron Man post likely coming today or tomorrow.)

While technically Q isn't past the 30-day mark, he's gotten awfully close again. And for quite a while he's only been able to bring himself to post either right before day 30 or a few days thereafter. So while it's kind of a breach of usual RPG etiquette, I don't think it's too much of an offense to allow Byrd to take over.

Of course, Byrd, you do realize that if we're going to make this exception for you, you're gonna have to deliver the goods.

That's a given. Expect my first post on October 25th. That's only 29 days after picking up the character. :cwink:
