Look, the MCU gave extra VFX time and more VFX budget to Infinity War & Endgame, that's why BP looked the way it did in the third act. This movie has been in post-production for what feels like years. So yes, you can bail out this movie and say "that's the go-to criticism of all movies these days" but that simply should not apply to these DC movies that haven't been rushed, aren't associated with a bloated slate (where VFX teams are stretched extremely thin), and have been in post for this long. It's entirely fair to criticize this movie for looking like crap, not even from a VFX standpoint alone, but the suits all look incredibly terrible. Something about that Batman cowl on Keaton doesn't look right. The Flash suit is just a complete dud. It's a visual eyesore from top to bottom in this trailer. The story intrigues me though, I really enjoy the elements of MoS being included here, and Calle looks great as Supergirl so I'll hold off a final verdict until I see more, but this concerns me just as much as Spider-Man: No Way Home did before the movie came out. Wherein we have completely unique visuals from respective universes (Burton/Snyder) that are being melded into this "Muschietti" universe that looks fairly bland so far.
I didn't say anything about the MCU. I said its a go to critique because its usually true re: these big films not named Avatar lol
But are you referring to design choices or the execution of said design re: VFX? I think the design work here is pretty clunky, I can't say I'm that much of a fan. But the CGI looks unfinished. Its not a bail out. Its just what it looks like to me rn. If it looks the same in theaters, then it'll go down as having shoddy CGI. End of story. I think Keaton looks fine. Not much about that bothers me. Flash's suit is clunky as hell. I don't really like it. But I never said certain critiques weren't valid. That is if the critique is actually worth something as opposed to just saying "its awful". That's a nothing critique to me. Incredibly terrible is a stretch imo, but I don't love em either.
What looks solid to me is the actual camera work and movement within it. I like some of the movement and things staying within the frame as opposed to a million cuts. The story and plot overall also intrigues me.
