The All Things Flash Thread. - Part 2

Calle for Supergirl in Woman of Tomorrow. She looks really good.:ali:

I have a feeling the first line in the trailer is at the end of the movie and Barry decides to stay in the Burtonverse.

Visuals and CGI aside, the film looks like a lot of fun. :up:

But Keaton Batman isn’t stuck in an outside universe is he? Barry goes to the Burtonverse

Just think Keaton was going to be the new DCEU Batman with Batgirl at his side.

I never quite understand the "looks liek a videogame" rhetoric that gets thrown around. All these dang cbms have videogame-y effects to some degree. Its kind of the nature of the beast. And it also doesnt the mean the movie's gonna be bad. Just look at Black Panther, a freaking fantastic movie with lots of REALLYYY rough unfinished cgi in its third act.

I think It’s a go-to critique w these films because it usually is pretty apparent. The CGI is iffy here, but not really in a cartoony way imo, but an unfinished way. Everything else here looks good imo. The camera work has vitality. The action looks distinct. The emotional crux of it all seems hefty. I don’t like some of the design work or some of the lighting here and there, but it’s mostly pretty cool.

I wasn't being literal. The fact is that they basically shoved Burton's Batman into the "Thomas Wayne role" of a DCEU Flashpoint adaption. So in spirit he is Burton's Batman trapped in the DCEU.

And here's the thing, even though theres a lot going on here, it still VERY much looks like a movie centered on Barry/Flash. Barry's emotional journey to save his mother is going to be the core of this film, just like the Flashpoint animated film.
Not really. We’re gonna have barely anything about Barry’s life in Central City. There’s way more to Flash than just going back in time to undo his moms murder. But there’s never been a movie all about that and that’s what I thought Muschietti was doing. But no.

I have to say... Beyond Keaton still having his legendary charisma under the cowl, and even if it's clear Muschietti upgrade his set of capabilities (though I'm not a fan of that numeric and rubbery version of him doing gigantic jumps...), his Batman seems to work really well with other heroes.
The attitude and delivery in that little shot where he says to Barry "We're trying not to die", is exactly the kind of Batman I expect in a shared universe where the character cross paths with other heroes (but damn how fake those shots look, it kills me..I know, broken record...)

The idea that Keaton's Batman had two suits before the '89 original is just silly, considering he's prettymuch just started in that movie. Though, I appreciate the nods to comic history.

But in spite of Keaton Batman having killed, the idea of him actually carrying handguns just seems wrong.
And we all know the underwater suit should be white and black… or yellow lol;

Look, the MCU gave extra VFX time and more VFX budget to Infinity War & Endgame, that's why BP looked the way it did in the third act. This movie has been in post-production for what feels like years. So yes, you can bail out this movie and say "that's the go-to criticism of all movies these days" but that simply should not apply to these DC movies that haven't been rushed, aren't associated with a bloated slate (where VFX teams are stretched extremely thin), and have been in post for this long. It's entirely fair to criticize this movie for looking like crap, not even from a VFX standpoint alone, but the suits all look incredibly terrible. Something about that Batman cowl on Keaton doesn't look right. The Flash suit is just a complete dud. It's a visual eyesore from top to bottom in this trailer. The story intrigues me though, I really enjoy the elements of MoS being included here, and Calle looks great as Supergirl so I'll hold off a final verdict until I see more, but this concerns me just as much as Spider-Man: No Way Home did before the movie came out. Wherein we have completely unique visuals from respective universes (Burton/Snyder) that are being melded into this "Muschietti" universe that looks fairly bland so far.

I knew Keaton could still do it! My sole interest in this movie is Keaton - anything else will just be a bonus - and I couldn't be ****ing happier!
:wowe::wowe::wowe::wowe::wowe::wowe::wowe::wowe::wowe::wowe:

This feels like the Flashpoint Paradox animated movie, with Keaton's Batman in the Thomas Wayne role and Sasha's Supergirl in the skinny Superman role.
Definitely.

Ok I have a theory about the desert battle.
I am thinking the DCEU Barry finally comes to gripes that in order to end the multiverse chaos he has to let his mom die but the Burtonverse Barry refuses to let him and he becomes corrupted by the negative speed force and becomes Dark Flash.

I honestly wish DarKeaton Returns was detached from the Flash movie, and developed as it's own thing.
Somehow extricate his scenes as their own stand alone mini-episode, released similar to a Marvel/D+ streaming "Special Edition" featurette,
Not just drop Keaton into another U aesthetic, but made to more genuinely continue Burton's Batman legacy, and whole visual aesthetic.

It’s interesting to me that the Burtonverse Barry has blue lightning and they’ve given Snyderverse Barry the yellow lightning.

Simple explanation is they gave him yellow to be more comic accurate and the other Barry got blue to set them apart.

Slightly more nuanced take is that yellow is just meant to show he has a deeper connection with the Speed Force now.

My wild ass tinfoil hat theory is the Snyderverse Barry isn’t from the Snyderverse at all. He’s from another universe that will lead into the Gunnverse. And something bad happens with Burtonverse Barry that sets him off and leads to him creating and inhabiting the Snyderverse. And so Burtonverse Barry would basically have been the true architect and overarching antagonist of the Snyderverse. Purposely orchestrating events to try to get back home.

I think that would still mark the end of the Snyderverse, but it could be a way of saying it exists out there in the multiverse with a corrupted Barry pulling the strings. Meanwhile we move on with Gunn’s universe.
