with the trailer and tv spots emphasizing so much batman action, you'd almost think this was a batman movie. lol

As far as I'm concerned, it is! It'll be going on my shelf next to B89 and Returns!

Keaton leaving the Batman role was my first fanboy heart break at 13, or so .

I couldn't believe it, at first , and didn't like the idea of Kilmer taking over the part.

So, while I can deal with recasts now, I get why some fans get uptight about recasting actors in these roles , due to my own reactions to Keaton leaving the Batman behind back in 93'.

I was really looking forward to seeing Keaton's Batman with a Robin going back to after B89 and BR.

Even as a kid, I thought it would be interesting to see his Bruce become a father figure.

I also wanted to see Keaton act with Tommy Lee Jones ,Jim Carrey, Rene Russo, and Chris O'Donnell.

I eventually went on to except, and like Kilmer's Batman, and I enjoyed BF when it came out, but Keaton was my Batman.

So , it's nice to see him return to the role at least one more time, albeit , 30 years later, and to complete his arc.

I'm a bit younger but I can tell you I had the same exact experience at around 8 years old. I was obsessed with Keaton Batman and the idea that anybody else could play the role seemed impossible to me. I legit remember my mom reading about how Kilmer was taking over the role in the newspaper and telling me. World-shattering, haha. Like The Beatles breaking up or something.

There was no escaping the marketing frenzy of Forever though, and the fact that I was a huge Jim Carrey fan helped smooth things over. But yeah, there was a hump there that I had to get over with it.

LOTS of new footage, and the action honestly looks incredible. No sound though for whatever reason.

For all my criticism of the look of the film...that shot at the 36th second?
Michael Keaton with briefly the color palette of BTAS?
... Put that in my veins!

For me, I had no idea who Val Kilmer was. Only that he was not Michael Keaton.

I could how that could be the case.
For people my age, it was basically Top Gun which made him a big name several years earlier.

Then when Kilmer left and Clooney was cast I was like, " WTH?! I just got used to the new guy !". :smilingeyes:.

Which honestly i f***ing LOVE. Something about the notion of Keaton’s Batman going up against these super powered aliens— of which he’s clearly out of his league with — is so appealing to me.

I never, ever, thought I was gonna see Keaton again as Bruce Wayne/Batman so this came as a huge surprise. I'm more than fine if this is his last appearance as the character. It's a big bonus I wasn't expecting at all.

Which honestly i f***ing LOVE. Something about the notion of Keaton’s Batman going up against these super powered aliens— of which he’s clearly out of his league with — is so appealing to me.

Its bizarre in all the right ways! And it shows that even when he is facing off with beings that can fly and shoot friggin laser beams from their eyes he has no fear he jumps in and fights!

Lol, there’s a reason I’ve always differentiated between blog critics and real critics that work for legit respected publications. The former are just nerds like us who sat behind computers all day talking geek movies and TV and were just lucky enough to have the websites they were writing for get enough traffic to become known. The ones who write for Rolling Stone, NY Times etc are generally professional journalists with degrees who had to go through the standard hiring processes at the most competitive publications in the country and continue to be held to certain standards of journalistic integrity by their editors if they want to keep their jobs. All critics are certainly subject to bias, but only one camp is given good reason to at least attempt objectivity and not be such easy and blatant shills. The others are just fans who are thrilled to get the invites.

I'm baffled when I go on Rotten Tomatoes these days and see just who they let on there.

I've wanted a third Keaton Batman movie since I was a kid, and I still can't quite believe we're getting it. I'm sure I'll have my share of criticisms, but for now, I'm optimistic. We might never get the trilogy we wanted, but, at least now we'll have a Keaton trilogy.

I'm not expecting this movie to be some perfect work of art, and I'm picky with my cbm's, but I am really excited for this. It looks like a total blast!

to be honest, when this movie was announced, i was in the camp of not being excited for this.
it just felt like an empty cash grab.

them adding in keaton and using this as a flashpoint type story, just felt like WB studios didn't know what they were doing.
but them trying to ride the nostalgia train and then do a reboot to clean up the mess of their current continuity.

but watching the trailers has gotten me to do a nearly complete 180.
it still feels like a cash grab, and this is probably still a result of WB not really knowing what to do, but boy, does it look fun and actually trying to tell a good story.

what if this turns out to be for DC what Days of Future Past was for the Xmen movie franchise.

NWH was absolutely a gimmicky cash grab and they grabbed a ton of my cash. Not just in movie tickets but in merchandise as well and you know what? Its the cash grabbing is done well who cares. I dont mind shelling out the $$$ for stuff that i enjoy.

what if this turns out to be for DC what Days of Future Past was for the Xmen movie franchise.

DOFP is probably my favourite Marvel film. If The Flash equals that, I'll be happy. I think it will.

Sure, but there's a way to do them that doesn't feel totally hollow.
