The All Things Flash Thread. - Part 2

There’s rumors spreading on Twitter that DC employees are bracing for an extremely damning report on Ezra Miller that is due to come out soon. Apparently it’s going to “make the Armie Hammer stuff look like Mr Rogers”.

No surprise at all if true. And WBD will take a PR hit given they will stay associated till it's too late despite all the warning signs. Too busy cancelling other stuff where people behaved fine.

Oh crap. Where’d you hear this?

When you a DC fan and see an Ezra Miller headline

Ezra Miller participated in reshoots this summer without incident according to THR. The plan is for the film to still debut in theaters but WBD is “currently evaluating all options”.

That means they are deciding whether they take the hit and put it on streaming or risk theatrical most likely.

As for the twitter rumors, I will believe it when I see it. Something sort of smells like when we were going to get the big Ray Fisher reveal about how WB screwed him and Walter Hamada et. al held him back and were evil towards him when he was no longer under an NDA...and then he wasn't and the story was bad but not nearly as bad as was being hinted at. Ezra is all sorts of bad, but there does seem to be a weird element happening where old stories are being brought up and acted on as new stories so that there can be some piling on. Plus there are some pretty outlandish rumors out there that have yet to really be verified. (or debunked) It wouldn't surprise me in the least if the "report" that Indiewire is talking about is just an executive summary of the entire friggin saga...which would be smart of Zazlov to want to have because some of this predates his involvement. (if I remember the timeline correctly)

Note: Even if only a fraction of the stuff we have heard is true that is enough for me to not want Ezra as Flash anymore and hope they get help and leave Hollywood. I am not in any way saying they are a victim or deserve pity or there is some conspiracy. I have just been around long enough to know that often the snowball effect is manufactured in various ways and I get the sense that is kind of happening here. Again that doesn't change anything, it just means I think there is some propping up going on to make the story explode bigger than it already is.

Ezra's done regardless, he has 100% already been fired by WB. Its all about keeping them under lock and key so that this movie has a fair shot at doing well and rewarding the hundreds of OTHER people who worked on this movie. Guaranteed we will get an announcement probably a month after the movie comes out that he's been fired.

Also, I heard something the other day on Campea's show which is a very real scenario. If Ezra gets worse and further damages this movie...WB can and probably will sue them. Kevin Spacey was just sued for a huge amount to the producers of House of Cards and had pay out tens of millions of dollars for essentially sinking that show's profitability due to his behavior and allegations. WB can do the same to Ezra for breaching the morality clause in these actors' contracts. If this film sinks at the box office or their allegations become so bad that they DO have to cancel the movie, WB can damn well go after them for damages.

If Ezra isn't on the farm it should be easy enough to find them if they are actually there...

Like I said something seems off about all of this...beyond the fact that Ezra is obviously a psychopath.

So, over/under on Ezra murdering that mom and her kids…

Having read the article it sounds like the police believe Ezra is hiding details that is helping the family evade the police, but they don't suspect them of any direct foul play.

I don't think this is the one to end all things.

If WB were working with Ezra on reshoots while he was evading the law then that could explain why they're still so slow to act and cut all ties. Hard to kick him to the curb if he can just turn round and point out all this out.

Of the three options, the first two are delusional on WB's part .
At best, those are wishful thinking.

Yeah, it's always possible they could get help , but the allegations are so severe , a "tell all interview" probably won't be enough, and if anything , their attorney will probably want them to keep their mouths shut .

The third option would be financially devasting, and given Zaslov's controversial Batgirl move, it would further fit into the narrative of WB being off the rails.

So WB certainly has it's work cut out for them.

Is there any chance they can swap Batgirl and use The Flash as the tax write off instead lol? It’s so crazy to me that they dumped Batgirl which featured an entire cast and crew of passionate people that had NO controversy surrounding them, but were still going full steam ahead with this mess.

Like they could have made out scott free releasing Batgirl. But they definitely have some huge decisions to make regarding this movie and I don’t envy their position. If they cancel this movie surely they have to uncancel batgirl though right? Like they cannot possibly just delete all of Michael Keaton’s “return” performances, that would be so insane and one of the biggest missed opportunities of all time

I'm guessing they can't due to differences between contracts of simply streaming and a theatrical release.

That's why Denis was upset when HBO announced the DUNE steaming, therefore HBO had to pay out more than usual to those necessary - since their contracts had no intention for a intentionally diminished theatrical release.

I bet they release this film and instantly recast the role for future projects. Plus, given how important the film is for setting the DCEU going forward it's better to get this done with at the earliest opportunity. No studio would be crazy enough to bet any amount of money on Miller.

Eh i dont know, as messed up as it is...its quite possible to shift the whole narrative around...look at the whole Johnny Depp/Amber Heard thing, with the right kind of publicity both at times were made to look like saints and then the devil himself.
Wouldnt surprise me if they manage on this case to somehow turn it into a "poor Ezra Miller" story.

You never know in this day and age.

Either way they have no real out on this, either brace for the controversy and hope you make at least the money back, or cancel the thing and not only lose the money but also any moving forward.
Both imo should definitly end Ezra Millers involvement in DC property forever.

When we're talking about the child grooming allegations , I don't think so.
Depp was never accused of that .

There won't be a " poor Ezra" narrative , and the press certainly won't buy it.
So that ain't happening.
The only way WB can even attempt spin a " Poor Ezra" narrative is if they prove the allegations are false.

The 3 options debacle remind me of the Heaven's Gate situation, where director Michael Cimino's crazy style threatened to torpedo the production of his own movie, leaving the studio to choose out of 3 unattractive options. Probably my favorite movie-making documentary (29:53):

Releasing Batgirl and shelving Flash would make no sense as the Batgirl status quo is heavily informed by what the Flash does to the DCEU at the end. Unless, of course, like with Aquaman 2 they replace Keaton’s scenes with Affleck.

I dunno, it hasn't stopped some in this very thread from saying that a groomer needs help. :whatever:

Assuming it's true of course.
