The All Things Flash Thread. - Part 2

I feel bad for the fan walking in expecting to see Ben Affleck, Michael Keaton and Christian Bale interacting with one another lol

Since yesterday, I've seen so many comments and reactions anticipating when Batfleck and Batman will meet... Heh.
I haven't really read the leaks, but I don't think it will happen.

The problem with this movie is that its so much about the abnormality Barry creates. But we don’t have enough of a picture of what the normality he comes from looks like. Only that his mom died and Batfleck is Batman.
We had Homecoming and Far From Home to school ppl about MCU Spidey before No Way Home. We knew all about what he had gone through before the multiverse broke open. Flash is just about that- the multiverse breaking open. His own adventures protecting CC from gorillas, freeze and boomerangs have never been explored.

I hear you @REDophile its for SURE an unorthdox way of going about the first Flash movie. But I think with the right script it can still be done and done well. And by all accounts from what we're hearing, the script is good. I imagine the first 30 mins of so of the film is going to kind of show us the day in the life adventures of Barry, fighting crime as the Flash, his relationship with Iris etc before diving into the multiverse shenanigans.

I think WB feels like after having 9 seasons of a Flash tv and Ezra's Barry being introduced in JL and setting the groundwork, they can jump into a big multiverse adventure like this.

Everything, Eveywhere, All At Once nailed the multiverse concept with no build-up and featuring no pre-existing IP. If The Flash sucks, it's because it was poorly made. Not because we didn't get a solo or two beforehand.

Yes as you can imagine, I’m personally sick of the “it was gonna build to the one you wanted to see” excuse. :funny: The audience is not obligated to wait through multiple movies for you to “get there,” and it’s not their failing for not being interested in doing so, ffs. Make a good movie now or (potentially) lose them forever. That’s how it works.

It’s interesting to me that the Burtonverse Barry has blue lightning and they’ve given Snyderverse Barry the yellow lightning.

Way back when, Chris Terrio said that when he researched the characters and their powers for Justice League, they were playing around with the concept of blue and red electromagnetic shifts. The color has to do with the amount of energy and the frequency of a wavelength being generated.

As for the design of the cave, in this movie, Flash’s actions change the appearance and nature of Batman and the rest of the universe.

I feel like that being the case, the universe wouldn’t have issues changing the positioning of walkways.

MAN, preach! I could not agree more. Its honestly kind of why I love DC's movies on a whole for better or worse because the creatives involved all seem to have a "go for broke" mentality when making these movies. As opposed to Marvel's slow, meticulous "we'll get to the good stuff later" approach, DC's filmmakers all give 100% in the movies they're doing NOW and then if it works they figure out how to top themselves later. Of course, we can debate the varying quality and success of those films, but I personally love that "go big or go home" approach to filmmaking.

The Batman parts looked fun but I'm disappointed this is how Keaton returns. Hopefully Gunn & co. can find something for Keaton to do in an Elseworlds movie (Batman Beyond please!). I'm sure audiences will leave the screening want to see more of him.

I said it before in other threads but I'll say it again here; I foresee Elseworlds banner to just become a way for WB/DC Studios to pump out more Batman content without having to answer questions about continuity...

- The Batman saga
- Joker series
- Batman Beyond
- Gotham by Gaslight
- Arkham Asylum: A Serious House on Serious Earth

I find this is a big problem we have with comic films. Everyone is always worried about what every detail is leading to and what happens next, and it seems like so many people can’t appreciate the film that’s right in front of them.
I’ve seen so many people saying that this film doesn’t matter now because they’re rebooting the DC films.

So? Why can’t you just enjoy this film for what it is? I get that it’s exciting to speculate and to see characters cross over, but even if this is a “one of done” film, so be it. You can still thoroughly enjoy it without having to worry about what’s coming next.

That was one of the biggest, glaringly greedy things I found with the Snyder bros. For years people were clamouring for the Snyder Cut. That is something that RARELY happens, and we were lucky enough to get it. Instead of just being grateful and happy we got the Snyder Cut, it’s been nothing but “MORE MORE MOAAARR!!!”

Be glad we even got the Snyder cut!!

All of this. Just enjoy the movies as movies, people.

@kguillou if there had been other Flash movies way before than it wouldn’t be that big a deal. It’s not like Spidey Supes or Bats where we’ve seen their story on film so many times no need to rehash it. CW tv show isn’t the same thing as an MCU style solo film.
Cramming everything into one movie is kinda why the Snyderverse wasn’t so successful. Looking hot every excuse for a cameo and reference instead of deeper studies on the characters. Which is what we got with WW Aquaman and Shazam they were better received.

Usually when something like this drops, there would be more hype. Are people just checked out because we know the universe is essentially being scrapped?

I expect them to point at each other in confusion.

memes=$$$$
I really hope not. A previous film, that will remain nameless, did stuff like that and I wasn’t a fan. I don’t like bringing actors back and having nothing for them to do except recite memes and being comic relief. I hope Keaton’s role in this is more than just a wink and a nod to the audience. Hopefully he feels like a fleshed out character.

Curse of the shared universe strategy. Everything is always leading in to something else. Nothing is allowed to stand on its own two feet. It's been like this for what... over ten years now? The last time superhero movies were made as stand alone projects, it was TDKR. And even then stand-alone had almost been killed off by the rise of the MCU.

The MCU has been a cinematic juggernaut, but I feel like more and more its also been of huge detriment to storytelling and filmmaking across the board.
